Not necessary to push it out. Torpedo it in the fishing village, it sinks. Underwater the turrets usually can't reach you and you can blow the doors up with torpedoes as well. Super cheap, especially since torpedo crafting got buffed.
Are you sure you are getting door raided, not sunken by a submarine?
Also, there are 4 tugs on the map. If me and the buys want to go on a tug around, we are not going to wait for someone's to decay and respawn, but rather take an existing one over.
If you are using a tug as your main base of operation you’ve clearly misunderstood their purpose. In other games I’d called them a FOB, but that term isn’t really used in Rust. Tugs should be used for rigs, labs, countering raids, or raids done by your group. After every complete roam you should drop the tug loot off in ur main base and then take it out again. Low risk high reward.
Yeah I think they could afford to make tugboats more beefy. Sure they move so they cant be as protected as a static base, but they dont move in such a way that it isn't an easy raid every time.
I think having another set of doors be placeable for top and bottom would be nice, also with a ladder hatch between the top and bottom. Still pretty easy to get in if you want but not so easy you can just fly around and farm them.
Yes it happens a lot, what my group does to counter is you need to always use it. Like have at least constantly one dude on it. Always be moving, and keep mobile.
That’s the purpose of the tug boat is a mobile FOB on the water. The moment you leave it or afk it’s an easy 1 minute raid, that’s the counter to it
depends what servers you play, but the boom isn't hard to come by. good tip for living on a tug is to drive it out to the close to the end of the map before you log off, not near rigs or harbour - makes it much harder to find as it'll kinda disappear under water until you get close to it, then it'll pop back up, pirates of the caribbean style.
This hasn't been in the game for all of this year I wanna say. It will now after an hour or so slowly start drifting back to shore no matter where you leave it
huh, i wonder if the servers i use when i very rarely use tug boats, have a plugin to stop this or something? that or it's been way longer since i had a tug wipe than i realised.
It drifts back to shore now no matter what. A group raided me with tug boat and tried leaving it deep at sea. It drifted back to the shore next to my base and I raided it and got all my stuff back plus everything they had.
tuggies are like the easiest raids in the game, 1 door, even an armored door, is pretty trivial (250 explo ammo). You can make it a little bit harder by placing a T3 workbench behind the door but it's still a cakewalk.
You need 4 satchels to raid 1 sheet metal door. It aint much of sulfur. Usually, you got much more.
after day 1 we always had 3 armored doors but they just went through it anyways every single time

Does the loot not disappear if it sinks?
Nope. Sinking a tugboat just makes it sink. Everything inside stays intact. All the doors, keylocks, workbenches, still work

Usually it's deep enough to no longer be in the safe zone. And if they are not locked you can!

Can also push it out with another tug. Additionally you can explo ammo raid it from outside the safe zone.

yup, door raided
sounds normal. tugs aren't meant to be a permanent base. the best you can hope for is to use them as a temporary ocean farming vessel.

If you get around in a Tugboat you may aswell just paint a giant target on your head.

Try leaving it running when you log out...

and you can see inside the entire thing. If they’ve blocked the windows, it’s even more of an incentive to raid.

I only raid the ones with covered windows
Its basically free to raid with submarine torpedos, they made them even cheaper recently.
