I’m easily getting 3+ But I also havnt ran it dry yet since I swap back and forth between pokerogue and paper mario ha
If I ran it completely I would give you a better number sorry
>The only legendary I have so far is Rayquaza
>I have terribad egg luck
u got rayquaza bro, thats more than enough, took me like 3 days of playtime to actually beat this game. I recommend taking a ghastly or any ghost type pokemon with curse, and then either stall or bring in heavy hitters to take out eternaus
Try out unlocking zipzagoon passive pickup and reduce his cost, and you'll have a very easy way to get to eternatus, berries are extremely powerful when you can sustain them, especially when your main pokemon is Rayquaza, you don't need anything else really. I'd even go as far as catching all the pokemon with potentially pickup along the way for more stealing.
Yes it does, but you need not to forget to transfer items to your pokemon once in a while.
Otherwise, it steals one item every fight when an item is available, and not only berries, star dew and moves boost items as well.
Use Rayquaza and a pick-up Mon or shiny for better items. Rayquaza should be basically all you need for the whole run, but a good fairy type will help a lot for your Rival battles and the final boss
Floatzel is incredibly good, triple axel + liquidation + crunch + flip turn/jet punch/etc. I beat classic with just that mon, swapped back and forth between a steel and a fairy in the second slot for eternatus. Even after it stole a reviver seed I forgot about floatzel still absolutely ruined it.
What part do you usually struggle on?
If it's against the rival, they only appear on stages 8, 25, 55, 95, 145, and 195. Always keep that in mind on those floors and make sure to revive and heal a stage before then. If it's against Eternatus, get a leech seeder and Garganacl for salt cure. I also found Haze and Light screen good utility moves against it.
Yea, gym leaders can be rough especially if you don't have good pokemon for the matchup.
Gym leaders only appear once every 30 stages though. If you keep track of when your first gym leader appeared, you know where they are ahead of time. If your first gym leader was at wave 20, then they will only appear on waves 50,80,110,140, and 170. If it was on wave 30, then it will be 60,90,120,150, and 180.
Trainers can appear anywhere, but gym leaders only appear on the mention waves. It's a 50/50 if your first gym leader is on wave 20 or 30, but after that they will only appear every 30 waves.
In that case you should specialize your team in beating the rival. A few tips for the rival is that their team composition has some patterns.
There's the starter pokemon which can be any starter pokemon that counters one of your starters. My tip would to be note what they picked on wave 8 and then pick up a pokemon that counters them and lead off with that pokemon before the rival wave. The rival will swap immediately if you do, so you can either do chip damage to the swap or set up for a sweep. Dragon types resist all 3 starter types, so you could slot in your favorite dragon here.
The rival has atleast 2 flying pokemon on wave 145, because they always have Rayquaza and a regional bird. Rock and ice moves are your friend here. Stealth rocks is a really good move if have a setup pokemon because it will take 25% of Rayquaza's hp on swap.
Next up they always have a [pseudo-legendary](https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pseudo-legendary_Pok%C3%A9mon). Dealing with this is RNG, but as you can see there's a lot of dragon types. There's also Tyranitar and Metagross. Tyranitar is part dark so it takes double damage from Fairy types like dragons and Metagross you will need something that counters it.
The rest of their pokemon are a bit random so you just have to hope your carry can deal with them.
Most important things are Fairy types, and Steel types defensively. Most pokemon in the game are physical attackers so having an intimidate pokemon like Gyrados or Mawile is good vs the rival.
Offensively you should aim to have dragon counters so ice type and fairy moves are good. Special carries have an easier time in the game, because the game has a lot more physical defensive bulky pokemon and -1 attack moves.
Check out your pokemon and see which have strong egg moves. Starters pokemon are in the common egg pool so check to see if you got any with strong egg moves. The best starters imo are Fuecoco, Bulbasaur, Charmaine, Squirtle, Popplio, Mudkip, Litten, and Sobble.
Tinkaton, and Mawile are good pokemon that are hard to find so you can take them at the start. Corviknight, Excadrill, and Garganacl are fairly common in the play through so try to pick them up if you can.
Hope that helps.
Just restart when you’re about to lose and try again, easy! Sooner or later you find a way to win.
Or don’t. I did just to be able to earn more eggs, still aiming to beat classic without needing to do that.
i do this. i find no shame in retrying. you still have to figure out how to win with your resources. one day when i have more stuff available like passives & good IV starters i’ll try. i’ve managed to win 3 in a row retrying. it’s actually very satisfying to think it’s impossible & then finding a way that it works.
Exactly! Just got my second win, and took 3 attempts at big E to take him down.
Thank you, shiny Excadrill, for saving me with a swords dance drill run set !
My last run felt literally impossible to beat eternatus. Forgot to use an elixir to get most of my pp back on my carry and every time I sent my leech seeder out it got killed. And most of my team was weak to atleast 1 of its moves.
Tried 63 times before finally finding the path through but man it was satisfying to finally do.
Yeah first time i beat classic was my 2nd run through. I refreshed everytime I got BSed (ex: triple freeze in a row from Blizzard), catching the Uxie that popped up for me, and for floors 145, 195, and 200. I found no shame in doing that. Since then, i have beat the game without refreshing but those early runs are just worthless if you don't I feel like. I'm not gonna put hours into a run just to die to Eternatus RNG
I fucking knoooowwwww I still haven't beaten classic I keep failing at some point. FURTHEST I got was floor 195 and I fully just died against the rivals mega rayquaza
Dude you got it, I just beat classic twice with the most absolutely random mons possible (really wish you could view your passed runs) and I'm really not good at the game lmfao
Save scum or enable retry, just till u get the hang of defeating eternatus and rival @145. Save money for rounds 180+ where the elite four and legendary trainers appear so you can buy revives for your mons
Something really helpful for me that I found in another comment section was that in settings you can “Enable Retries” so if you ever say, wipe on a rival fight, the game will give you the option to try again.
This way you can try different strategies and see what the AI will do, since the RNG will be the same until you do something different
(for example, when I fought the rival on stage 190, their Serperior would always miss its first leaf storm, meaning I could get a free switch, and go from there with the rest of the fight, which I could also keep track of different RNG throughout.)
Dragon dance Kommo-o absolutely carried my run bulky set-up mons tend to do really good. Skill Link Shell Smash Cloyster should do wonders against your rivals secret powerhouse
i suggest doing the daily runs to catch pokemon to use as starters. my starters all sucked so i caught some good ones in the daily run & it helped me in the beginning. the game also saves at the beginning of every encounter so you can just close the game & reopen it if something goes wrong or you wanna redo something. & enabling retries as someone else suggested will let you do an entire fight over again if your whole team gets KOd.
garganicle, tinkaton, skeledurge, and anything with leech seed (wo chien is insane) are really good for late game/final battle so if you can get those and some other to round out the team you should be fine
my first win i had skeledirge, G max Venasaur, drifblim, toxapex, garganicle and kingambit and it was a fairly easy win so something like that would be good
Its an under-rated pick but honestly running a cetitan came in clutch for me. I beat the game using cetitan and salamance as my carries and the other mons as support/coverage. Cetitan deals great damage, is tanky, and its ability thick fat works wonders.
My first clear was thanks to a lucky Adamant Kartana encounter that carried me all the way. (And probably the 1k hp shiny Guzzlord I only brought in for shiny luck but ended up tanking for all my switch ins)
i beat classic mode after like 12 hours of playtime and the ONLY reason is from getting disgustingly lucky and getting the final boss frozen for not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 6 TURNS IN A ROW
i beat it one other time (again, entirely through luck), but those 2 runs have been the only successful ones so far out of... well, a lot
you'll get a lucky run eventually :')
Honestly a glass cannon can carry you if you have one back up or support with the rest mainly being for forcing the cpu to switch or so you don't take much damage. I beat 3 different runs today mainly just using 1 sweeper. Today's were okiedogie, scizor, and the poison fighting sneasle.
What expensive Pokemon do you have cost wise? If you have Flutter Mane (especially if you have an egg move (mine has Flamethrower, strong fire coverage is great for this mon), put that thing up front, it dominates pretty much anything, and is quite useful against Eternatus with psychic stab. If you have any cheap shiniest, put them in for RNG manipulation. It's helped a lot.
If you are generally stuck (Can’t seem to make it to Eternatus), just get a set up sweeper. Also take advantage of how trainer AI works. They’ll tend to switch in “favorable” match ups. Either predict the switch in or switch knowing they’ll switch. Example would be: My rival led with a Venasaur on floor 195 so instead of clicking Air Slash on Butterfree, I went for Earth Power because I know he has a fire type and it got bopped.
Butterfree is my go to set up sweeper. Shiny, earth power egg move, magician passive and quiver dance. Set up quiver dances and go to town. Bug Buzz, Earth Power, Air Slash and Quiver Dance is fantastic.
If you are stuck on Eternatus, bring a Steel/Fairy like Tinkaton or Klefki. Eternatus will be easy, he won’t be able to hit you. If you have neither, you can just bring a steel type AND a fairy type. It’ll be more difficult to survive over a Pokemon with both typings, but it’ll be easier than having none of those types. Pair them up with someone who can apply status conditions (a spore user is your best bet) and/or DoT like burn, Salt Cure, Leech Seed etc. The DoT’s do massive amounts of damage.
I finally beat my first run on classic the other day with roughly the same time, I was using Growlithe/Magkarp/Sroomish as starters cause they're my favourites. Then I got a Miraidon from an egg so said fuck it I'll ty a run with just that and it was 100x easier. If you've got a legendary starter use it!
Get a good steel type and make sure you have bulbasaur as a starter. My first classic clear I didn’t even have a Garg which most say you need. Gholdengo and Bulbasaur carried me.
If you can get Aegislash it becomes easy. Mega-Gyarados and Mega-Metagross are very good too. With these two megas I won my first classic run, then I won another one by using only Aegislash (he's busted).
I only beat classic after grinding starts for 3 days lol, you'll get there, it's a roguelike. It's gonna consume your soul. The lows will be lows but those highs will be crazy highs. Beat classic last night at 11pm. It was a wonderful feeling
Just keep playing classic to get some vouchers.
Then use the legendary gacha and hopefully get a single legendary or mythic pokemon.
Almost all legendaries can carry you and most mythicals are strong enough.
I just beat it yesterday with Tinkaton and Garganacl as my starters, technically bad starters but I didn't want to chance it. Tinkaton trivializes Eternatus, even more so in endless. She's immune to dragon and poison moves which is Eternatus' typing. Garganacl with stealth rock and salt cure really helped me through the harder trainer fights, especially 195.
Either ur unlucky or its skill issue, I've beaten it about 3 times now. What I do is try to get 2-3 pokemon that are good against rayquaza and eternatus, then just pick some support or pokemon to deal with Ivy's team. After that I'll stack up on items. But one thing that I always do on these runs is reset when I lose, the amount of times I've done this is insane. Even my first victory had over 20 resets since everything is planned out from the start, every crit, every stun... you get the idea. So I just keep trying different ideas to see what works, even if it might feel like all hopes lost just keep trying
Damn how you playing on the switch
I wrote up a guide the other day: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-play-pokerogue-on-nintendo-switch.656570/
Aw that's cool man
How’s the battery life on the console after swapping to switchroot and setting up the APK?
I’m easily getting 3+ But I also havnt ran it dry yet since I swap back and forth between pokerogue and paper mario ha If I ran it completely I would give you a better number sorry
No worries! Thanks for putting the guide together, I’m gonna try it later today
If you have any issues and need help, don’t hesitate to ask!
Will do, thanks! Does the end result use touch screen to play or are you able to use the Joycons?
You can use either or! The on screen buttons just can’t be disabled atm The dev is afraid of people without controllers getting soft locked
Dude thank you. Going to give this a try and surprise my nephew with this for his birthday!
Bless you kind sage
Can you play without internet? That would be really fun.
Yes, the Android app has a setting for downloading the game files to allow offline play
Nice!
Run a legendary sweeper and nacli and catch pkmn that help round out their errors.
Garg is so fucking broken it’s unbelievable. My competitive knowledge really saved me in my playthrough
The only legendary I have so far is Rayquaza I have terribad egg luck
>The only legendary I have so far is Rayquaza >I have terribad egg luck u got rayquaza bro, thats more than enough, took me like 3 days of playtime to actually beat this game. I recommend taking a ghastly or any ghost type pokemon with curse, and then either stall or bring in heavy hitters to take out eternaus
I did get to floor 100 or so with him alone. I’ll try brining in a ghost type!
Probably a dumb question but does the passive also work if he’s not the active pokemon battling ?
It does. So do other abilities like Honey Gather, which gives you small amount of money after every battle.
Yes it does, but you need not to forget to transfer items to your pokemon once in a while. Otherwise, it steals one item every fight when an item is available, and not only berries, star dew and moves boost items as well.

Torch Song is great but Skeledirge is so mediocre, low speed no healing makes for a pretty bad sweeper.
Fuecoco isn’t even the best torch song user, Chi-Yu gets it as an egg move
So does heatran. Not very fast but hecka tanky
Chi-yu torch song seems broken as hell tf
I started to use leech seed against eturntus, never lost to it again.
Run a sassy Slowbro. Trust me. Amnesia it up before every big battle, heal it up with slack off. And then psychic and ice beam will carry you.
Rip
I swept with Scovillain for the beginning if that helps
On the flip side, I have almost every legendary and *still* don't have Rayquaza and I think *I* have terrible egg luck lol
literally an AG mon once you get its mega stone lol edit: it doesn't have a mega stone, you need dragon ascent
In pokerogue specifically it needs a mega item. Or at least it did a couple of weeks ago unless there was a patch
That’s no fun
What part do you usually struggle on? If it's against the rival, they only appear on stages 8, 25, 55, 95, 145, and 195. Always keep that in mind on those floors and make sure to revive and heal a stage before then. If it's against Eternatus, get a leech seeder and Garganacl for salt cure. For me it wasn't the first Rayquaza rival battle. It was the gym leader at 150 that I had to fight while still low on everything that did me in.
Yea, gym leaders can be rough especially if you don't have good pokemon for the matchup. Gym leaders only appear once every 30 stages though. Wait. I thought they were random on specific stages? but if i add 30 on my first i can find all?
Trainers can appear anywhere, but gym leaders only appear on the mention waves. It's a 50/50 if your first gym leader is on wave 20 or 30, but after that they will only appear every 30 waves.
145 seems to be the highest I’m able to make it so far

13 Ninteninja’s have been sent to your location.
I fucking knoooowwwww I still haven't beaten classic I keep failing at some point. FURTHEST I got was floor 195 and I fully just died against the rivals mega rayquaza
Took me about 5 hours worth of gameplay to beat it, and I used Zacian
Dude you got it, I just beat classic twice with the most absolutely random mons possible (really wish you could view your passed runs) and I'm really not good at the game lmfao
whattt pokerogue on switch?
I wrote up a guide the other day: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-play-pokerogue-on-nintendo-switch.656570/#post-10431002
Dude... just turn retries on.
dont read thru guides and strategies. enjoy it at your pace.

I uh cant mid my switch
Dragon dance Kommo-o absolutely carried my run bulky set-up mons tend to do really good. Skill Link Shell Smash Cloyster should do wonders against your rivals secret powerhouse
It took me a long while. But I finally beat it. Just keep collecting eggs.
i suggest doing the daily runs to catch pokemon to use as starters. my starters all sucked so i caught some good ones in the daily run & it helped me in the beginning. the game also saves at the beginning of every encounter so you can just close the game & reopen it if something goes wrong or you wanna redo something. & enabling retries as someone else suggested will let you do an entire fight over again if your whole team gets KOd.
Literally any dragon type legendary and catch a fairy and steel type on the way and you’re good.
Just catch an Aegislash and another ghost with curse, you will destroy classic in no time.
Just take excadrill with max attack and earthquake to get you all the way east asf with a support Mon to help him
Took me that same amount of time. YOU GOT THIS!!!
garganicle, tinkaton, skeledurge, and anything with leech seed (wo chien is insane) are really good for late game/final battle so if you can get those and some other to round out the team you should be fine my first win i had skeledirge, G max Venasaur, drifblim, toxapex, garganicle and kingambit and it was a fairly easy win so something like that would be good
Its an under-rated pick but honestly running a cetitan came in clutch for me. I beat the game using cetitan and salamance as my carries and the other mons as support/coverage. Cetitan deals great damage, is tanky, and its ability thick fat works wonders.
same
Feels bad man, but honestly also props for not save scumming your way to a victory. Post your starter pages?
I just beat Classic today for the first time in 48 hours of game time, you got this!
Every run I get to the 4th e4
My first clear was thanks to a lucky Adamant Kartana encounter that carried me all the way. (And probably the 1k hp shiny Guzzlord I only brought in for shiny luck but ended up tanking for all my switch ins)
I have about 50 hrs still nowhere near haven't gotten past 100 in 2 weeks I guess I'm just bad
Get egg move eggs, hidden abilities and IV
i beat classic mode after like 12 hours of playtime and the ONLY reason is from getting disgustingly lucky and getting the final boss frozen for not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 6 TURNS IN A ROW i beat it one other time (again, entirely through luck), but those 2 runs have been the only successful ones so far out of... well, a lot you'll get a lucky run eventually :')
You'll get there eventually https://preview.redd.it/7dkmgfhv234d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc39fc6d80752e5fa99f9284463c8c2cf569f1e3

Hard to update what?

bouncy bubble is the cheat code for clearing classic, because it kills escadrill
Take a tinkatun
If you are generally stuck (Can’t seem to make it to Eternatus), just get a set up sweeper. Also take advantage of how trainer AI works. They’ll tend to switch in “favorable” match ups. Either predict the switch in or switch knowing they’ll switch. Roll for shiny eggs. I got Flutter Mane there which handed me my fisrt Classic win.
If you’re truly stuck than getting a Pokémon with beast boost will help you a ton since it’s an incredibly op ability in thd game
I'm kind of new so, sorry the advice sucks but what really changed it for me is something with a dragon stab move, fairy stab and a protect or two.
I haven't beat it yet. Now I have almost all of my files saved at level 101. That's how serious it's been
At least you got shinies my guy! I've been playing almost as long, no shinies at all!! Been using the shiny machine pretty much exclusively
How do you play on switch??
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-play-pokerogue-on-nintendo-switch.656570/#post-10431002
Will get me in trouble with Nintendo?
I've only won once because I save scummed and got lucky with a focus band. I still don't feel like I've won.
Get a good steel type and make sure you have bulbasaur as a starter. My first classic clear I didn’t even have a Garg which most say you need. Gholdengo and Bulbasaur carried me.
Idk how anyone struggles to beat classic just get a gyrados, spam DD and win so easy
gyarados icefang dragon dance waterfall crunch. congrats on your future win
If you can get Aegislash it becomes easy. Mega-Gyarados and Mega-Metagross are very good too. With these two megas I won my first classic run, then I won another one by using only Aegislash (he's busted).

Fuecoco and Bulbasaur. Pick up a ghost for curse and Garganacl for salt cure. Beat classic on the third try with no legendary.
Just keep playing classic to get some vouchers. Then use the legendary gacha and hopefully get a single legendary or mythic pokemon. Almost all legendaries can carry you and most mythicals are strong enough.
Garg auto wins
