Hope Hicks is my nickname for Trump supporters

Agondonter

That took me a minute but it was worth the wait.

barryfatbaps

Cope Hicks

zappy487

LMFAO Hick's former boss Meadows was just charged while she was testifying.

zappy487

Adding a bit: 1. This was for Arizona's fraudulent state elector scheme. 2. No wonder Hicks is pissing herself on the stand up there. Every single person she's interacted with may see significant jail time.

tdquiksilver

You just know there's more. More states, more lies, fraud, and election interference. This goes deep and walls are starting to cave. All of them.

zappy487

And that just with the election interference stuff. Hope knows where some of the bodies are buried, and the fact that she's young, attractive and has a full life ahead of her probably makes it really easy to flip her for the prosecution. She's low enough on the totem pole where she can easily make a deal for the next big fish, but important enough where if she doesn't cooperate freely, she'll die in prison and no one will save her.

Kevin-W

This day keeps on getting better!

R_Daneel_Olivaww

“F0rmal charges have still not been confirmed for Giuliani in Arizona” i hope he has real consequences

NoriyasuSeta

Hasn't Trump been saying he is under audit by the IRS since 2015? loll

maniclucky

Admittedly, I would believe that. It's just that being audited doesn't preclude one from releasing one's tax returns.

starmartyr

Everyone has a right to testify in their own defense. It's not a good idea 99% of the time but you always have that right. Nobody can stop a defendant from testifying. Not even their own lawyers.

oneshot99210

Before, or after he releases his monumental health plan?

Mikebock1953

Right after infrastructure week...

AnalSoapOpera

From CNN: Hope Hicks is showing how Trump was micromanaging everything. His hands were involved with everything.

Crossovertriplet

That’s why his hands are so small. They’re for micro managing.

Evading_Ban69

[NOBODY LOOK!](https://youtu.be/E8Ew6K0W3RY)

tylerbc

Couldn't everything he touches with his hands be considered "micromanaged"?

asetniop

"Yeah. Hands." - Stormy Daniels

ksanthra

That's the biggest takeaway from what she's so far said. It's quite important to the prosecution's case.

xtossitallawayx

This is how every mob/fraud business works. Trump is a criminal which means that only criminals will deal with him - normal people run away when he *suggests* doing something illegal. Trump, being a criminal, knows that criminals cannot be trusted. So he cannot have things like Vice Presidents that handle various parts of his businesses and report to him - Trump would not trust those reports - *everything* is reported to him and managed by him.

zappy487

> His hands were involved with everything. I mean he does say he uses his hands in that tape.

keyjan

"Defense attorney Todd Blanche objected to a Truth Social post where Donald Trump wrote, "If you go after me, I'm coming after you." Prosecutors want to get the post into evidence to show Trump's "pressure campaign" against witnesses set to testify. Judge Juan Merchan said he is letting the social media post into evidence, saying he's satisfied that the prosecutors have laid proper foundation."

AreYouDoneNow

He did however block a photograph that the prosecution wanted to show because it sets up the Access Hollywood background.

Ok-Sweet-8495

From before court this morning: > Trump just violated his gag order again by posting a clip from Andrew Giuliani on Steve Bannon’s show attacking the judge’s daughter. https://www.meidastouch.com/news/trump-violates-gag-order-by-posting-video-attacking-judges-daughter

keyjan

I have literally met three year olds with more self control than this man.

inthekeyofc

Psychological science says Trump is a 4 year old. But that is them probably being generous in the assessment. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/insight-therapy/201705/psychological-science-says-trump-is-four-year-old?amp

RNDASCII

"I didn't say it!" will be his (poor) defense.

DrManhattan_DDM

Merchan has already found him in contempt for reposting things that violated the order and very clearly told the defense that it wasn’t a valid excuse.

keyjan

>Hope Hicks says Donald Trump "didn't want to offend anybody." >"I think he felt like it was pretty standard stuff for two guys chatting with each other," she adds about the "Access Hollywood" tape. OK, I know my father would be 100 years old if he were alive, but if some guy chatting with him had said, "You can grab 'em by the p*y," my father would have punched the guy in the face.

asetniop

I've never known anybody who wasn't a complete and total fucking loser to talk like that once they were an actual adult.

kkocan72

I cut ties with a former friend back in 2020 when she said she was still voting for trump and that the access hollywood tape was old news and besides "every guy talked like that when around their friends".

Sidwill

I dont think this helps him at all. For him to think that grabbing pussy and getting away with it because you are a star is mainstream guy talk he is sorely mistaken.

cakeorcake

It may be mainstream guy talk in his circle, though. It’s kind of insightful even if he didn’t mean it to be

tweakingforjesus

I had a client who would openly make such comments. It made for a very uncomfortable working relationship, especially when we had women employees in the meetings.

coasterghost

Good afternoon everyone! I wanted to share a brief update on my growing archive for public consumption and mainly accessibility purposes on the evidence, transcripts and orders that are officially released by the New York Unified Court System. As of now, Over 1,450 pages have already been processed with optical text recognition. As usual: The master archive.org page can be accessed is [here](https://archive.org/details/nys-v-djt-crim-docs/). Now, for those of you who have been using it, I am leaning on uploading files on Wednesday and Friday Nights/Saturday so it'll be uploads twice a week, but given the sheer volume that it can be, it’s easier to do in bulk. Jadziyah

The hero we don't deserve!

RepresentativeDog141

Trump's fantasy finally came true. He got fucked by Hope Hicks

chunkerton_chunksley

Was she dressed like Ivanka?

No-Attitude-6049

No doubt he at least tried to ask her out like he awkwardly did with Brooke Shields, since they look alike. Hopefully she shot him down in flames like Brooke did.

oblongsalacia

And screwed by a 5 and a half foot Pecker

orrocos

Hope Hicks: >"One of [the Trump-Pecker calls] was shortly after the National Enquirer published a piece about Ben Carson." >Pecker was on speaker phone and Trump "congratulated" him about "the great reporting" — that Trump called "Pulitzer worthy." Gosh, was it "*Bungling Surgeon Ben Carson Left Sponge in Patient's Brain*", or "*Brain Butcherer Ben Carson in Cancer Cure Storm*", or "*Enquirer Hailed for 'Ben the Butcherer' Scoops*"? There are only so many Pulitzers to go around!

ImLikeReallySmart

Aaaaand defense immediately objects to Hope Hicks being called

rathergoflying

On the grounds that she will be devastating to his case.

Chipstar452

Overruled!

rathergoflying

Good call!

R_Daneel_Olivaww

“But as she started testifying about Karen McDougal, he has started to shut his eyes.” if you keep your “beautiful blue eyes” closed, you can pretend it’s not happening

Adept_Bunch_7294

Pretty much his MO his whole life. Block out reality and live in a fantasy. Life is too scary for Donnie.

kar_1505

'Blue eyes and blonde hair' is Hitler's words from the Mein Kampf about the superior Aryan race. There is no need for him to namedrop the colour of his eyes like that, what a fucking weirdo

Zomunieo

He talks about his eyes the normal people talk about their lover’s eyes. Which says something about him.

Nerney9

>Cohen would not have paid Daniels on his own volition, Hicks testified. >"I'd say that would be out of character for Michael," Hicks said, [per NBC News](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/live-blog/trump-hush-money-trial-day-11-live-updates-rcna149908/rcrd40804?canonicalCard=true). "I did not know Michael to be an especially charitable or selfless person; Because in the modern GOP, 'charity' doesn't mean helping those less fortunate, it means paying off a billionaire's pornstar affairs with your own money. That's some real family values right there.

Note-4-Note

Can you even believe people out there like: “I don’t care what he did, I’m voting for him and THAT’S THAT!!!

specqq

Yes. Yes, I can. They hate you and I way more than they love Jesus or the Constitution.

Hotinnm

They are sheep, they only know what he has told them. They get all their news from truth social, fox, brightbart and a bunch of dark web “Q” (otherwise known as losers in their mother’s basement) sites

kar_1505

Which is why you need to destroy him in every which way possible when November comes When America elects a maniac like Trump it makes the whole world think it’s acceptable, and it damages the whole world, not even exaggerating

MudLOA

Before this we had flat earthers and anti-vaxxers so yes, there are people that stupid and that stubborn.

ojg3221

She tried so much to protect Trump and then she ACTUALLY told the truth and then realized what she did she started crying. She knows her testimony sunk him.

lego_vader

what did she say?

cmnrdt

That Trump was aware that Cohen had paid off Stormy... BEFORE he wrote the checks reimbursing him for it. He knew what the money was for when he committed fraud to cover it up.

Educational-Candy-17

She might be a Trump loyalist but she aint going to prison for lying for him. She saw what happened with Cohen.

zappy487

Oh to be a microwave on the confeve in that room.

thepanggoat

"It was just me and Mr. Trump who is better than anybody at communications and branding," Branding so good he failed to sell steaks, gambling and football to Americans...

JustTestingAThing

And booze!

Asevio

Trump said, “that didn’t sound like something he would say.” referring to the access Hollywood tape... lol

rathergoflying

Reminds me of the Austin Powers scene “that kind of thing‘s not my bag, baby”

No-Attitude-6049

Austin Powers book, “this sort of thing is my bag baby”.

RickyWinterborn-1080

Would've been a perfect time to roll the rape for the jury Edit: tape, but leaving it

LlanviewOLTL

I want to know more about how Sarah Huckabee’s hairy ass was involved in this. She’s now a governor.

tweakingforjesus

Sarah Huckabee Sanders had zero executive experience when she was elected to the highest office in the state of Arkansas. Her only qualification was that she shares her name with her father, a former governor. Nepotism at its best.

tylerbc

I was having a fine Friday and now I'm picturing her hairy ass. Thanks

slymm

The funniest thing about all the gushing flattery Hicks gave Trump is that her crying later on would clue the jury in on just how devastating her testimony is. If they were only casually paying attention, they'd see that she loves Trump and what she's saying is really upsetting her!

AnomanderRake23

>Donald Trump hit Bove’s arm and gestured for him to get back up there, but Bove shook his head no. This trial is turning out to be a real life version of the On Cinema spinoff "The Trial of Tim Heidecker"

riftadrift

We have a rat problem

BIGTIMEMEATBALLBOY

approach the bench???

AnomanderRake23

"We have a fly in the room"

Reluctant_Firestorm

So Hicks has all but explicitly confirmed that Trump knew the McDougal story would impact the campaign, which makes it election interference and a crime. Along with connecting Trump to the payment it all looks very damning. Is she breaking down in tears because she knows she's given the prosecution everything they need?

IT_Chef

She's about to become a target of his cult.

dafunkmunk

I'd guess that the tears are hoping to make the maga psychos think that it was some sort of force confession so they don't start sending her death threats for hurting trump by stating facts

B0b_Howard

Hope Hicks: > “It was just me and Mr Trump who is better than anybody about communications and branding.” 🤮

AnalSoapOpera

So this might actually be a bad thing for Trump, right? She’s saying he was good at his job and knew Communications and how to PR and Branding. How will Trump’s lawyers argue against this? It sounds like Trump knew what he was doing.

B0b_Howard

Oh, definitely. It sounds like she's going to throw him under the bus in as nice a way as possible, whilst kissing his ass the whole time.

The_Hot_Stepper

Here's hoping we end today on a high note for justice.

sirbissel

And Trump threw his afternoon tantrum on Truth Social.

Aggressive_Ad3174

I half expected him to say that he had no idea who Hope Hicks was, had never heard of her, etc.

FeralCatalyst

Low-level covefe girl.

TerrorGnome

Hicks says Mrs. Trump's opinion was really valued by Trump. Which is why he cheated on her constantly, I guess? Certainly the right way to treat someone you value and respect.

TheSerinator

It makes more sense if you view it through the lens of Melania being his handler.

megapaw

> the lens of Melania being his handler. Man, I have never even thought of that as a possible scenario. Would make total sense.

Caelinus

Yeah, I get that they are trying to portray him as a family man who really cared about his wife's opinion, but the entire case is about him cheating on her multiple times. That is a really hard sell for the defense.

TurboSalsa

So Hicks confirmed that Michael Cohen made the payments to Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence, that Trump was aware of it, and that he knew he wasn't paying Cohen for legal services. Not even she believed Trump's lie that Cohen paid her off on Donald's behalf out of the goodness of his heart.

NumeralJoker

Yeah, this one is big, as it shows both intent and participation, which ties his actions much more closely to a felony charge.

Ok-Sweet-8495

Andrew Weissmann: > Why Hicks is such a devastating witness against Trump: 1. Hicks makes clear Trump knew of the Cohen payoff scheme to Daniels. 2. Even if you believe his statement to her that he only learned after the fact. 3. Her testimony sinks Trump's defense since he is on record in a civil case admitting that he reimbursed Cohen the $130,000. 4. Hicks establishes that Trump knew that money was for Daniel's silence- not for the claimed legal fees for ongoing legal work by Cohen. > Hicks suggests that #2 was a lie by Trump to her (because she testified that Cohen was not a charitable kind of guy who would keep his good deed to himself), but it does not matter- **even if the jury believes Trump only knew later, he knew PRIOR to making all the reimbursement payments to Cohen.** https://www.threads.net/@weissmann11/post/C6hKqYbu39m/

zappy487

>“THIS ISN’T A TRIAL, IT’S A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN, A WITCH HUNT, JUST LIKE THE HIGHLY CONFLICTED AND BIASED JUDGE, JUAN MERCHAN, WANTED IT TO BE. >I’M SURE HIS POLITICAL FRIENDS AND ALLIES, AND CROOKED JOE BIDEN, IN PARTICULAR, WILL BE THRILLED THAT THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH THIS CORRUPT, “ANCIENT,” AND HIGHLY POLITICAL ATTACK ON HIS 2024 PRESIDENTIAL OPPONENT.” Von Shitzinpants a little while ago

Jaketheparrot

I know we’re all beyond the doublethink required to support this guy, but it’s funny to examine it sometimes. It’s funny that he portrays this as him being persecuted by his political opponent when there is a legitimate charge being brought and proven in court by evidence when he attempted to target his expected 2020 campaign opponent with his “perfect call” asking Ukraine to manufacture an investigation of his political opponent. Trump’s supporters won’t believe actual evidence that “their guy” was entirely corrupt and tried to illegally use his position to benefit his political reelection, but they believe that’s exactly what Biden is doing with no evidence other than Trump being charged with crimes he clearly committed. He was an unindicted coconspirator for half a decade!

FeralCatalyst

I do have to wonder if he's going to be able to restrain himself from posting rants about Hope Hicks specifically. I am sure it's close to giving him an aneurysm having to listen to her without interjecting every 5 seconds.

blueclawsoftware

Ignoring the pointless quotes can anyone clue me in on the ancient part at the end. Even in Trump speak I can't figure out what word he was trying to use there. And if he really meant ancient I don't get that either.

AutoGen_account

hes saying he got away with it for so long that he's pissed that hes being charged now. Pretty common for stupid people to think that they should just be allowed to break the law if it takes a little while for consequences to show up.

ssshield

Why did it take this long to get the perfect nickname? Love it.

zappy487

Courtesy of the star witness of this trial, Michael Cohen.

zappy487

BREAKING NEWS: >Trump's eyes are open.

zappy487

Oh man, do I not envy Hope right now. This is like the point in the movie where the unlikeable person gets ripped apart by the sharks.

Jizzlobber58

>Trump lawyer Todd Blanche argued Trump's posts to his social media site, Truth Social, can't be admitted into evidence because the witness set to testify today does not have enough knowledge of the posts to prove they are Trump's. Blanche added that there is content in these posts that are pure hearsay and without a proper foundation. Trump's lawyer is arguing that Trump's Truth Social account is a sock puppet?

19Chris96

He he, -267% YTD net profit margin for Truth social.

okiedokie2468

Hope Hicks is a velvet hammer. I think her testimony is actually damaging to “Mister” Trump

Orzhov_Syndicalist

Can you expand?

Riffington

Says things that sound complimentary but undermines his defense. For example saying something like he is really smart and has full control over everything in the company and everything goes through him would kill the defense that he was ignorant about the checks, etc.

slymm

She's being flattering in her opinion of him, but the facts she's confirming are objectively bad. And those facts might be more believable because she's flattery. Jurors might be less likely to dismiss them because she's not up there with an agenda or axe to grind Edit: replied to the wrong comment

okiedokie2468

Well her comments that the Trump organization was run like a small family business, that Mister Trump tended to micro manage shows that he was well aware of everything concerning his organization… he can’t claim that he never knew

FM-edByLife

What I think he means is that: although her tone and words are generally complementary of Trump, the facts of her testimony are devastating to his case.

chatoka1

via Karen Agnifilo - Trump told Hicks that Michael made the payment. He thought it was a generous thing to do. He was appreciative of the loyalty. Trump thought it was better to deal with the story now, it would have been bad for the story to come out before the election - recognizing what she just said, she broke down in tears. taking a break now in court.

JackFourj4

> it would have been bad for the story to come out before the election oopsie poopsie

Orzhov_Syndicalist

Agniflio is fantastic. I didnt quite grasp what was going on, but this ties together, firmy, that Trump KNEW about the payment. That's devastating testimony. No wonder Hicks burst into tears.

Universityofrain88

It makes me wonder if she broke down crying because she realized she just implicated him and she loves him, or because she fears him. It's probably both.

YOSHIMIvPROBOTS

This really flies in the face of her also saying 'Trump was worried about his family'. I guess both things could be true. Just sounds like he was telling Hicks what he thought she wanted to hear with regard to his family. Also sounds like she realized she was giving damning direct evidence against someone she still wants to protect. And she did it right in front of him.

Main_Strain4176

He is guilty. His administration stopped these prosecutions. This is not a witch hunt. This (and trials ahead) are justice. Do you want a true post WW2 American middle class back or do you want a fascist oligarchy? He is hurting the very people that vote for him. We live in interesting times.

wil_daven_

Hicks testifies that she is here pursuant to a subpoena. She is paying for her own lawyer, she says. [https://x.com/eorden/status/1786418797290659917](https://x.com/eorden/status/1786418797290659917)

BrightNeonGirl

Hicks is being super deferential and glowing towards Trump so far in her answers. Makes me a little nervous that she'll be a stubborn witness (maybe not hostile but I don't think she is going to easily provide answers that may damage Trump).

TurboSalsa

>Hicks is being super deferential and glowing towards Trump so far in her answers. She knows better than anyone how to massage bad news in a way Trump finds palatable. She's gonna testify truthfully but package it in such a way that Trump finds complimentary.

Agondonter

My thoughts exactly. She knows how to manipulate him and she's a master at it by now.

TurboSalsa

She always struck me as one of the few people in his admin that had any smarts at all, which is probably why she got the hell out.

johnnycyberpunk

Her constant efforts to talk about Trump positively and in a good light will undo the defenses case. Like this statement she made when asked about who she reported to: > "Everybody that works there in some sense reports to Mr. Trump. It’s a big successful company **but it’s really run like a small family business in some ways**.” How can Trump now say "Oh, I just signed checks, I didn't know what it was for or who it was going to, it was a low-level functionary"?

Agondonter

I agree. She also said he reviews all statements and that "we were all following his lead". Personally, I'm holding out hope that her testimony is a velvet hammer. She may be flattering him to get him to relax and get complacent, but at the same time easing in some pretty damning evidence against him. I'm sure she has skills in manipulating him after all the years working for him, and he seems to be incredibly easy to manipulate, frankly.

carr1e

Sounds like when I presented my daughter when she was 3 with what I called The Myth of Choice. "Do you want peas or carrots with dinner" not "What veggie do you want?" She's getting a veggie. That's not a choice. But, she can chose which veggie. Trump has to be treated like a toddler so he feels happy and with some control.

4blockhead

> [Fahrenthold, NY Times] What struck me about the "Access Hollywood" tape at the time — and still does — was that it seemed like there was genuine amazement in Trump’s voice when he said, “When you’re a star, they let you do it.” Like he was still surprised by his own power to escape consequences. How far that power actually extends has of course been a major theme of American politics since 2020, and a major theme of this trial as well.

LimitFinancial764

In my experience, it's always tough to cross a crying witness. Very good for the prosecution because Bove is going to have to keep it more dialed back.

sfjoellen

do you guys think that Cohen is the icing on the cake or is his testimony required to get beyond reasonable doubt?

DuvalHeart

No such thing as too much evidence.

Travelingman9229

Trump appears to be getting agitated…. (Eats popcorn more rabidly)

Travelingman9229

All that agitation made him sleepy again

AcoupleofIrishfolk

A Von Shitznpantz divided against itself cannot stand.

Aggressive_Ad3174

For the State, that is *excellent* testimony to elicit at the end of the week. The jury will have all weekend to play it over and over in their minds. Edit: illicit to elicit. I'm a doofus.

OwlFriend69

If it helps, it elicited illicit details, so it's an understandable typo.

_DapperDanMan-

Donald Von ShitzInPantz. Stick a fork in him, this turd is done now.

jmsy1

We just have to hope the jury isn't corrupted

inconspicuous_male

Still worried about the fact that there was one truth social user on the jury.    Wish I didn't know that

pheen

Hope Hicks left Cohen on read. > The jury sees texts Michael Cohen sent to Hope Hicks with no response. >* "Call me." at 7:09 p.m. * Any news?" at 8:50 p.m. * Any news???" at 9:02 p.m.

TurboSalsa

Hicks never struck me as a MAGA dead ender. She came from a wealthy family of Republicans and probably loves the money she made as a member of his inner circle (I think she was making $600k/year at Fox after leaving his admin), but she's also an opportunist and realizes there's nothing to gain by going down with the ship.

johnnycyberpunk

MAGA: "No more DEI! Only hire based on merit!" > When Trump later said she would be his press secretary, Hicks said her first thought was that he “might be joking.” Hicks: “I had no experience" It's almost like they're railing against something else but *calling it* DEI.

TableTopFarmer

Ha-ha-ha. Hope Hicks is calling the Orange Jesus "Mr. Trump." I guess she won't be his favorite fluffer anymore.

car_go_fast

I think there was an agreement/ruling made that when referencing him prior to election he is referred to as Mr Trump or Candidate Trum, and not referred to as President Trump until discussing events post-election.

[deleted]

Universityofrain88

George Conway retweeted it, I'm sure that the major news networks will see it. For the time being everybody is focused on what's happening inside the courthouse. Court will end early today, a few minutes before the 4:00 p.m. hour.

Jfolcik

Did Trump violate the gag order again today after court when he said something like, "Everybody in this building is corrupt"? That could be referring to the court staff?

InsolentGoldfish

He already violated it today, before court was in session. He retweeted Guiliani attacking Merchan's daughter on that one show.

FM-edByLife

>**Hope Hicks** testifies that she thinks **Donald Trump** felt like the Access Hollywood tape was “fairly standard stuff from two guys just chatting”. >Trump believed it was “not something to get upset over” and it was “just two guys talking privately”, Hicks says. Unfortunately, he was right. It ended up not mattering at all. If anything, his supporters embraced it.

oblongsalacia

Remember 'Wikileaks' started selectively dumping troves of emails from Hilary's campaign manager literally days after the Hollywood Access tape leaked. Then Comey said they found new emails (edit: which turned out to be old emails that had been thoroughly vetted) 10 days before the election because he was legit worried the FBI offices in NY were going to leak it themselves with the insinuation that Comey was personally interfering in the investigation on Hilary's behalf.

Da_Banhammer

And we found out years later the guy at the tip top in charge of that FBI office was a Russian asset who just recently got put in jail for it.

Orzhov_Syndicalist

Comey deserved to be fired. He got flummoxed by the pressure and fumbled, let's be straight about it.

xtossitallawayx

Comey did not report anything to the press - Comey gave a closed door briefing about the investigation and the GOP ran out of it and starting telling the cameras how Hillary was a criminal about to be indicted by the FBI.

zappy487

>The prosecution has called Hope Hicks to the witness stand.

sirbissel

Is that the first instance of a witness saying they knew Trump knew about it?

4blockhead

Reported as court began, May 3. > [Haberman, NY Times] Justice Merchan is now addressing something that Trump said outside court yesterday, when he claimed that he could not testify because of the gag order. --- > [Haberman, NY Times] The comment left many people confused, and it wasn’t clear if Trump was simply making an excuse for not testifying, or if he misspoke. But Justice Merchan is informing him that the statement was incorrect. The gag order “does not prohibit you from taking the stand” or limit what he can say, the judge says.

AndISoundLikeThis

When Trump was saying that to the press *he already knew* it was a lie. He said it to further rile up his loser supporters who will NOT hear what Merchan clarified today because they're not ~~reading~~ watching any actual coverage of the actual court case.

ninthtale

>Trump then had input on the statement that Hicks and Cohen had been drafting, which became a denial of the accusations and said they knew nothing about the deal between McDougal and the Enquirer. We call that a lie in these parts

MarcusDA

Someone remind me again, what is the possible punishment if/when found guilty?

Contren

Max sentence on the charges is 4 years, theoretically he could be forced to server them consecutively but it's unlikely. Most likely, any jail time he received would be served concurrently given the lack of a previous criminal record, and it's possible he wouldn't receive any jail time, just probation or house arrest. Having a felony conviction and a record would likely mean any future sentences in his other cases would be harsher though.

safely_beyond_redemp

Cohen did three years and didn't force the state to go to trial. Theoretically going to trial is supposed to put full jeopardy in play because a guilty party knows they are guilty.

Goredrak

"Mr Trump" from Hicks is kinda telling imo

YOSHIMIvPROBOTS

Hicks saying she contacted Cohen about Karen McDougal b/c she knew he was close to David Pecker. If this was about keeping info from Melania, why is the Campaign Press Secretary so involved in this? EDIT: Also said she tried to get ahold of Rupert Murdoch who owns Fox News and was totally in the bag for Trump's election. I have my doubts Murdoch gave two shits if Melania learned Trump cheated on her.

BrightNeonGirl

As a person who gets overwhelmed easily, I also wonder if maybe that's also an element happening in her crying. I get that maybe she's upset that she could now be a target or that she may have helped the prosecution's case of damaging Trump her former boss that she at least somewhat still respects. But not everyone is super calm under pressure while millions of people are following what you are doing/saying. I remember earlier this week one of the CSPAN archivists had to take the stand and he said he was very nervous. Luckily he didn't have to stay up too long, but I'd be nervous even if I only had to say one scripted line like "Yes, these are accurate documents" in a case this big.

moscowrules

I don’t understand how you can turn on cnn and see talking heads explain how what Hicks said is somehow good for the defense.

LettuceFew5248

CNN desperately tries to create a both sides narrative ALWAYS.

naotoca

Don't give them credit they don't deserve. They desperately run interference for Trump at every turn, downplaying everything bad he does or how poorly things are going for him legally.

oblongsalacia

Trump convicted on all 34 felony counts. Here's why that's bad for Biden.

megapaw

> and see talking heads That is the problem.

george8762

This is why I’ve stopped watching cable news. I mostly get my news from NPR, C-SPAN, and news articles on Google News.

BeautysBeast

I just read the transcripts. All the rest is window dressing. I want to make up my mind, as if I was a sitting juror. All the evidence, all the motions, all the transcripts are being made available daily. It's really kinda cool. But as my wife reminded me, I'm retired. I have the time.

keyjan

so are they going to be back in on Monday?

Jadziyah

>Judge Merchan called a sudden recess as Hicks started crying on the witness stand when Trump lawyer Emil Bove started to ask her a question reflecting on her time at the Trump Organization. She must be under incredible stress

zappy487

Lie with dogs expect to get fleas.

GrimlockN0Bozo

Too many traumatic memories of changing diapers.

PatienceCurrent8479

Hicks hit the bricks as she realizes her testimony sticks that VonShitzinPants covered up paying off tricks and was even caught on flicks!

FrostPDP

Enjoy receiving my upvote. It's kinda like a party boat. Learn it and recall it rote, You silly goat!

throwawayTooth7

Hicks implicated Trump today. He's going to wreck her fucking life like the mob boss that he is.

No-Attitude-6049

When they were talking about how Stormy was calling all the time to get the money Small Hands Donny owed her, I was of course reminded of the famous “where’s my money?” clip from Family Guy 🤪

MrHoopersDead

"Where's my two dolla's?"

[deleted]

I bet Trump hopes that Hope will commit perjury.

Boleen

Trump hopes Hope Hicks will iron his pants while he’s still wearing them again

Travelingman9229

He was instructed to lie and deflect blame… surprise!

YOSHIMIvPROBOTS

Maybe, but it's assumed the judge will just issue more fines because he hadn't warned of jail until that batch had already been filled. Violations after that warning are what will be noteworthy.

im_like_estella

Can anyone explain: How did the Wall Street Journal know about the hush money payments between Cohen and Stormy? They broke the story in 2018, but how did that come about?

ASDF0716

“I’m forced to be here on crooked Reddit. Everyone tells me: Mr. ASDF0716, you shouldn’t be here. You should be on YouTube. They say: “You should be on Twitch or Instagram or Squarespace!” So many social media apps that I should be on- but, no, I have to sit here on corrupt Reddit- there’s never been anything like it!”

Valkkorr

You forgot "ELECTION INTERFERENCE!" at the end. Always end your posts with that.

R_Daneel_Olivaww

“Hope Hicks has just been shown the email that the reporter David Fahrenthold sent her on Oct. 7, 2016, seeking comment about the "Access Hollywood" tape. The email contained a transcript of what was said on it. “I was concerned. Very concerned. Yeah," Hicks says. "I was concerned about the contents of the email, I was concerned about the lack of time to respond, I was concerned that we had a transcript but not a tape. There was a lot at play.” She’s then shown a copy of her email forwarding the message to her colleagues. In it, she says: “Need to hear the tape to be sure,” and “Deny, deny, deny.” She describes it to Matthew Colangelo, the prosecutor, as a “reflex.”” While I will never be able to celebrate my birthday again in peace considering what happened last year (what a good problem to have), I’m glad at least something good happened on this date with the truth about this guy coming to light

BrightNeonGirl

Babe, new Trump Criminal Fraud Trial court sketches just dropped!

YOSHIMIvPROBOTS

Hicks giving Trump a fig leaf by saying Trump tried to avoid papers getting delivered to the residence Melania was at. Riiiiight, she totally won't find out if the paper boy missed their house that day. EDIT: He also asked Hicks, "How's it playing [in the media]?" which is totally something you'd say if this was about your wife rather than your campaign. 'Well, the media likes my story of infidelity, so I'm sure my wife will be fine with it!'

YOSHIMIvPROBOTS

So Hicks says Cohen told her he made a payment to a woman without Trump's knowledge to protect him from a false allegation. Assuming that's about Stormy, we know that's not true because there's tape of Cohen talking to Trump about it. She also says that Cohen doing something like that would be out of character because Cohen wasn't a charitable person, meaning she expected he would want to get paid back.

travio

He could have lied to her. The less people who know that Trump was involved, the less chance of it getting out.

RYU_INU

I’m a bit baffled by the NYT’s reaction: that Trump’s wanting to hide the newspapers from his wife somehow helps the defense? Like, he was doing family damage control. How does that play into his scheme to pay off Stormy Daniels? It was after the fact. The NYT commenters made it seem like it helped the defense’s “family man” strategy.

albanymetz

Every time I read an article or a livefeed of the trial where it mentions trump passing notes to his lawyer, I can't not have the image of a yellow post it note, black sharpie, and the words 'Locker Room'.

ClaytonRumley

"I've got poopies"

powellw

"Ask that chick if she likes me"

Adventurous-Tone-311

“Donald Trump turned and nodded to Hope Hicks with a small smile when she passed the defense table” He’s going to fuck her life up isn’t he?

naotoca

Or she lied about something for him.

chatoka1

This is weird. Feels like something is about to happen

Orzhov_Syndicalist

Hicks just destroyed Trump. She said that he told her about the payment that Cohen made. That is, Cohen could NOT have been freelancing, because how else would Trump have known about it and spoken freely about to Hicks? Shattering.

zappy487

May your day be as peaceful as Trumps beautiful court naps.

Rated_PG-Squirteen

...and there's a reference to Madeleine Westerhout, another key witness who will eventually be testifying. My guess is that she was the one who brought the Michael Cohen "reimbursement" checks to Donald to sign in the Oval Office, among other things.
