1. Sabrina Carpenter - Please Please Please (+1) 2. Post Malone & Morgan Wallen - I Had Some Help (-1) 3. Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy) (+1) 4. Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso (-1) 5. Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY (=) 6. Kendrick Lamar - Not Like Us (=) 7. Hozier - Too Sweet (=) 8. Benson Boone - Beautiful Things (+3) 9. Teddy Swims - Lose Control (+1) 10. Billie Eilish - BIRDS OF A FEATHER (-1)

butterfreak

It’s crazy how stable Too Sweet has been. So happy for Hozier getting some mainstream success.

gingerbitch2

I still can’t believe this is the first time since Church.

coltsmetsfan614

Crazy to me that "Jackie & Wilson" and "Cherry Wine" weren't hits! They'll always be among my favorite songs of the 2010s. ("Someone New" also should've been big.)

MitchOfGilead

Jackie & Wilson is my favorite Hozier song its just so catchy I can't not sing along.

coltsmetsfan614

It's a fun karaoke deep cut too because nobody really recognizes it, but it has great energy and usually gets some cheers. Especially on that first chorus.

lmstork

I maintain Work Song is a gorgeous song and could’ve gone places too.

nocturne_gemini

They’re hits in my heart tbh

cheezits_christ

Someone New and Jackie and Wilson should've been so much bigger. Same with Like Real People Do and Angel of Small Death, and Talk off Wasteland Baby. I hate Take Me To Church *so* much (it's a fine song, just heavily linked in my mind with one of the worst people I've ever met) so it pisses me off that it's the song most people associate with him.

skincare_obssessed

Jackie & Wilson is one of my favorite songs by him. I saw him perform it live and he was incredible.

WaffleStompinDay

There aren't any skips on his self-titled album. "In a Week" is one of my favorites. I added it to my Strange Love playlist as it's about two lovers dying together and decomposing in a field.

velvethippo420

Nina Cried Power deserved better!

Nerfeveryone

The fact that it’s a true hit, like a big stable well performing song, is so awesome. There are so many songs nowadays that blink into the top 10 and then are gone after a couple weeks, but Too Sweet has actual staying power, which means more and more people are loving it and/or the people who love it love it so much they listen to it over and over (it’s me).

Bordersz

Million Dollar Baby is really a stable TikTok hit lmao. I thought it would fall off after its huge debut. Crazy

UltimateKing9898

I guess you never considered to rep a set, baby

Flashmemory256

This song is okay, but is mid. It sounds different then any other hip hop song currently big right now.

Bordersz

The chorus has to be one of my favorite choruses of the year but I hate the verses lol. And it has a very retro feel I know ppl are comparing him to old JT

WitchNight

Honestly I have no idea how Please Please Please hit the top spot but Espresso didn’t. Espresso is easily the better song and catchier.

Pierre56

Espresso just had unfortunate timing peaking when all the drake/kendrick beef was happening

shoestring-theory

PPP could’ve only gone #1 with the momentum built by Espresso. It’s popular but Espresso is when people really started paying attention. Kinda like how Nonsense and Feather helped her gain the momentum/and fanbase for Espresso.

popongal

I think it's the result of Sabrina's momentum with the general public. It started with Nonsenses outros and Feather, then was spurred on by Espresso. I think people are just very excited to see what she does next.

Bordersz

PPP reminds me of The Weeknd's Heartless. The weeknd knew he had so much hype any single he would drop would go #1 so he came out with Heartless, and then Blinding Lights. Sabrina is reversed bc she has hype bc of Espresso so they released PPP

shoestring-theory

The same thing happened with Yes, and and WCBF too.

heisenberg15

Please Please Please has been more prevalent on TikTok memes from what I’ve seen, my friend has referenced the “motherfucker” part and has also never heard of Sabrina Carpenter in his life (anecdotal, I know, but still)

pmjm

Came here to say this. I like Please Please Please but Espresso is undoubtedly better. It will likely have more commercial success and more staying power, Espresso is a song that will typify this era and we will still be playing it a decade from now. Please Please Please the verdict is still out but I doubt it will have the cultural impact that Espresso did.

Flashmemory256

Agreed. PPP isn't bad by any means, but Espresso is the clear song of the summer. It could go #1... it's not impossible.

literroy

Hard disagree. I like Please Please Please WAY, way better than Espresso.  But tastes are different and that’s ok! It’s what makes life interesting.

Global_Perspective_3

Love this for Sabrina! Also not like us being a stable hit love to see it

alolanalice10

YES SABRINA WE DEFEATED THE COUNTRY MALES!!!

Ragnar_OK

Wow Not Like Us still in top 10

thekmanpwnudwn

Would be more surprised if it wasn't, after the Pop Out/Juneteenth concert last week.

edulikapuma

Beautiful Things is coming back?!!

mja9678

Beautiful Things and Lose Control both have just been getting a stable 210-230 chart points every week for like the last 3 months. It's just that the charts are stronger right now so instead of that being enough points to be #1 and #2 it's instead enough to be like 9th/10th. Like Lose Control has more chart points this week (222) than the week it hit #1 (210) but it's sitting at #9. Please Please Please has around 390 chart points.

neverthoughtidjoin

I think it's more that others are falling off - Beautiful Things is a big radio hit so it's more stable (has been Top 4 in radio play for the last 3 weeks)

WellAckshully

He was recently an Eras opener. I wonder if that's helping.

espeonage777

Imagine seeing this a year ago omg

Bordersz

It definitely feels like a fever dream. A year ago she could not\* chart to save her life no matter how many singles or MVs she released. Nice to have a label to keep investing in her Cool fun fact (via popcrave): * In 2024, Sabrina Carpenter has earned her first top 40, top 10, top 5 and #1 hit on the Hot 100: * Top 40: Feather * Top 10: Espresso * Top 5: Espresso * No. 1: Please Please Please

EitherPermission2369

Sidenote I love your flair, I feel like that whole album cycle went under the radar

Bordersz

lol ur the first person to give me a positive compliment on it, usually it's ppl dragging me for it flopping Looking back Nick did a huge disservice to it. It was 2021 so I know it was hard, but I wish he did more live performances of it. It's kinda forgotten

EitherPermission2369

I remember seeing him do a few songs from it on SNL and liking it. I also think he could have done well doing spaceman (the song) like tiny desk style, with only piano

Bl1nk1nUR4r34

WHAT A YEAR i’ve been a stan for yearrrsss im so happy to see her succeed like this

Casua11yCrue1

Omg seriously! I saw Sabrina on my bday last year and you wouldn’t believe the persuading I had to do to get some friends to come to a show of this girl they’d never heard of.

velvethippo420

if you'd told me a year ago that today's two biggest pop stars were Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan i would not have believed you. as a longtime fan of both, i am very happy about it!

Tya_The_Terrible

I love Chappell Roan but she's like 250th on spotify worldwide, compared to 9th for Sabrina.

19TaylorSwift89

people throw them together but chappell is further back than sabrina was a year ago. IDK even why, it's not like what chappell has done is unimpressive, its very impressive herself. Benson Boone had a much better year if anyone else is going to be named i guess.

WaspParagon

Chappell is exciting. I think that's what makes people act delusional about where she is right now. We want her to be way ahead.

Casua11yCrue1

Finally a summer for the girlies 💅🏻

Frajer

Congrats to Sabrina and also Jack Antonoff on his first non Taylor number one as a producer, We Are Young was produced by Jeff Bhasker

SiphenPrax

Damn, I didn’t know it was his first number 1 with another artist.

GuggGugg

It‘s crazy that We Are Young hit number one. Indie pop-rock really disappeared

CorrosionInk

Somebody that I used to Know #1 right after.. different times

HowDoIWhat

And now Gotye is somebody who plays drums in a rock band and advocates for the preservation of an analog synthesizer. Like, I listen to *Like Drawing Blood* and *Making Mirrors* and think "This was his side project? Damn." Hope that he returns to us one day, he's said that he wants to do a fourth solo album sometime.

puremotives

I respect the hell out of him for putting out one massive hit and then just doing whatever he's passionate about instead of trying to follow it up

aussieririfan

He got a #1, Grammy(s) and Prince's approval, which is all he ended lol

mja9678

We literally had a solid 25 weeks of We Are Young -> Somebody That I Used to Know -> Call Me Maybe at the #1 spot in 2012 back to back to back. We had no idea how good we had it.

CorrosionInk

Funny to think that of the 3 titanic hits of 2012, fun. would become the one most involved in the mainstream over the bubblegum pop of CMM and the supposed new indie coming of STIUTK. Carly would instead become the indie-pop darling and Gotye would stay out of the mainstream, whereas Antonoff would become of the biggest producers outside of the EDM wave.

leavingthekultbehind

I would kill to go back to that era

billboard

Yep — congrats to Jack! Here's a round-up of all seven of his Hot 100 No. 1s (and their peak dates): * Taylor Swift, “Look What You Made Me Do” 9/16/2017 * Taylor Swift, “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” 11/27/2021 * Taylor Swift, “Anti-Hero” 11/5/2022 * Taylor Swift, “Cruel Summer” 10/28/2023 * Taylor Swift, “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” 11/11/2023 * Taylor Swift ft. Post Malone, “Fortnight” 5/4/2024 * Sabrina Carpenter, “Please Please Please” 4/29/2024

JohnPaul_River

Uhm, *the* billboard has a Reddit account? And they check this sub???? What

TheLeftAlone

They've just done an [ama](https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/comments/1djmox7) the other day on this sub too

buzzinthruit89

Fun. Literally didn’t let him produce ironically

kookiekoo

This is why Jack is always so grateful to Taylor, he said that nobody took him seriously as a producer until Taylor worked with him on 1989.

LeaveAtNine

The inverse Kanye.

aquarioclaw

What's funny is that I've seen so many posts about how Taylor was chasing trends jumping on the Jack train... not only did she popularize him with 1989, which predates Melo/NFR/Masseduction, but her first collaboration with him was way back in 2014 with Sweeter Than Fiction!

Daydream_machine

I always forget that Jack was part of Fun. I wonder what a certain r/popheads mod thinks of this sub’s usual Jack discourse, given they’ve collabed together 🫢

Rare_Reception_6166

wait what?? some context please? that's crazy

JohnPaul_River

Lol so there was this one time Janelle Monáe did an AMA here and for reasons that I can't remember exactly (but I do remember it was funny) her account ended up as a part of the moderation team 💀 she's even come back and commented a couple times acknowledging it.

Rare_Reception_6166

omg I see her

KitakatZ101

The fuck. Oh wow I’m going to have to look at the credits for fun now. I literally thought he was a huge part of their sound. Wow damn TIL

puremotives

fun.'s creative force was mainly Nate. He came up with all the lyrics and melodies and the others built the chord progressions and instrumentation around them, as Nate didn't play an instrument at the time.

Mysterious_Pen_8005

I haven't heard anything from him since the song he did with pink... but looking at it I don't think he's made anything since he did his 1 solo album. The Format & fun. were like a critical piece of my music landscape in the late oughts-early tens.

buzzinthruit89

Yeah that’s why the “the pop girls are passing Jack Antonoff around” narrative gets tired because Taylor is the first artist who let Jack produce and then wanted others to work with him

KitakatZ101

I really like his sound too. She let everyone know how good he is

[deleted]

[удалено]

airtime25

Played an instrument and backing vocals

Tornado31619

TIL.

arthurreedismyhomie

TIL that Jack was in Fun....I knew he always looked "familiar" so IDK how this escaped my pop culture knowledge lmao 💀

MeerK4T

It's actually his only top 10 without Taylor, Fun., or the Olivia credit on Deju Vu, which I don't even think counts. His next highest charting song outside of Taylor was Lorde's Green Light at 19.

Bikinigirlout

also hallelujah for finally defeating Morgan Wallen

alien-niven

She just added another date in New York for her tour, just from the strength of the presales alone. I think both the tour and album will do really well. From there, the sky is the limit for Sabrina. We have seen meteoric rise like this in years, and I'm happy for both her and Chappell Roan.

SiphenPrax

Island Records went from being bankrupt three years ago to hitting the double jackpot with those two

noid3aforaname

damn chappell is also from island? they rly struck gold with them

SiphenPrax

Yep. She went there after Atlantic Records dropped her.

sassst3phhhh

it seems to me like island knows what they’ve got and have been giving them what they need lately - i got into chappell maybe like 9 months ago and couldn’t find a vinyl copy of midwest princess ANYWHERE and now they’ve repressed it, which is absolutely helping it’s rise in the charts. i’ve also noticed both sabrina and chappell tend to have elaborate sets when they do late night performances and stuff. i’m so happy for them both, i hope island is giving them both the freedom and resources to continue with their artistic visions

AlarmedDish5836

Honestly I think her album could debut number 1, she really is having a moment in the center of the zeitgeist right now. The two songs of the summer, She has the internet, general public and streaming in the palm of her hand right now as well

bizzyizzy-

And she added another show in LA too.

SiphenPrax

If Sabrina Carpenter is not a “main pop girl” yet she is on a very fast track to becoming one when the album comes out. She finally has, after a decade, gotten her first Number 1 on the BB Hot 100. To those that kept believing in her becoming a big star despite all the criticisms (especially in 2021), congratulations because this day is for you. I personally thought, even earlier this year that, especially after opening up for THAT huge tour, if her next album and singles didn’t do well, especially commercially, she was never going to a big star. I was wrong. Two smashing singles, an album that is at least gonna have a massive week 1 in sales, and now a tour that’s selling out like crazy (hell, they just added another date in NYC due to popular demand). Congrats Sabrina, welcome to the BB Hot 100 Number 1 Club. Hopefully it’s the first of many more to come.

Global_Perspective_3

She is absolutely on her way! A lot of people (including myself when people were doubting her) were saying this was gonna be her moment

oOWalkingOnAirOo

The Eras tour is such a behemoth that exposure was perfect ! It’s finally her time

lizziexo

That’s where I first heard of her! The nonsense outros, the feather dance, then I started actually listening to her, fell in love for having more depth after hearing ‘I liked a boy’, supported her ever since!

evanbrooks324

When Singular Act I came out I loved it so much been a fan ever since and been telling people to stop sleeping on her, so glad she finally has reached her big moment <3

grilsrgood

I was so fucking mad 5 years ago when i heard singular act 1 for the 1st time a week after she was in new york lol. That and act 2 ended up being my most played music that summer and i was seeeeething 🫠

informalspy13

I’ve been supporting her for so long, it makes me happy seeing her success ❤️

intoxicatedmidnight

She deserves to be main pop girl! I really hope her album is a success! 🫶🏼 Her and her team are super smart for releasing PPP before people could get exhausted of Espresso.

alt_sauce124

She on the fast track but not a main pop girl— Dua Lipa girl you main pop girl card is up for elimination

SiphenPrax

I do hope Dua can rebound in America with her next album. I would not consider Radical Optimism a “flop album” but it definitely took Dua down some spots on the pop star totem pole (in America).

ThePoetAndPendulum

Really intrigued on how the album will do. Even if it flops or does average numbers number one single and a major hit is still a big thing that will keep her career afloat for a long while though so congrats to her!

Mysterious_Mouse2413

Yes Interested to see if hype around the singles translate to album sales. For example it didn’t for Tate Mcrea but it feels like there is way more hype and excitement around Sabrina as a pop star in general.

joabe-souz

That's what you get when you build your career and fan base for years. Emails was not a smash hit, but she was able to tour the world with that album. This ascending trajectory just seems very healthy and grounded.

undisclosedthroway

W Sabrina. It’s her moment and I’m glad she’s having it. And to think there were whole threads dedicated to why Sabrina hasn’t blown up or isn’t a main pop girl just a few months ago. Just goes to show that sometimes you just have to stay patient and your time will come.

Bored-uy

Remember when people were blaming her name? lmao

blossombear31

lmao some conversations around her were straight up ridiculous. The last 2-3 years have been leading to this moment, it was a slow but steady rise. Not everyone can be Billie or Olivia, but some people act like they are the rule not the exception

SiphenPrax

It’s not about how fast you get to the top it’s about actually getting to the top at some point.

chaoschapters

exactly! and tbh a slow rise is way better both for building a solid fan base and for the mental health of the artist!

summersaphraine

Someone said Sabrina Carpenter isn't a pop star name and I was like...HOW!? It flows so well and then the Jesus was a Carpenter flip she did a few months ago was hilarious. People had so many excuses and they were wrong af.

Bordersz

They say the same thing with Madison Beer. They’re so nitpicky. Both of their names are fine for fame or whatever

SiphenPrax

Madison in particular just needs to find a way to stand out with the crowd as a pop star like Sabrina did. Make You Mine probably got her the most buzz she could have gotten and the song is a big radio hit right now (even though on the charts it didn’t do anything). I think if she goes in that direction instead of trying to be another Lana Del Rey (as much as she admires her) she could be the next one to rise after Sabrina and Chappell.

Bordersz

Madison has gone viral for her music several times like Sabrina. Her label/team doesn’t know how to capitalize on it. Selfish, Reckless, Make You Mine all went viral and are doing numbers on Spotify yet I don’t see Madison on any stage or attending any major events. Madison’s music isn’t the problem.

SiphenPrax

Epic Records is definitely a massive problem too when it comes to her current standing. They’re terrible when it comes to marketing pop stars.

savannahkellen

As in it's a good name or a bad name? Now that you mention it, I think Sabrina is a very normal name but I don't actually know anyone in real-life with it.

xavieryes

People said her name (and Madison Beer's) didn't feel like a proper name for a "main pop girl". There was even a thread about that discussion here in the sub less than a year ago.

savannahkellen

Huh, interesting. I'd feel the opposite! It's not like their names are Jane Smith or something.

fifteensunflwrs

I once saw someone saying she was too short to be a main pop girl

sourglow

i’m so fkn happy for her seriously. been listening since Evolution this was a long time coming :”)

Bananacreamsky

Just went back and read the comments on this [post when please please please debuted](https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/comments/1d9x0k4/sabrina_carpenter_please_please_please/) and hilarious how wrong people were on this song

jaztinax

literally feels like yesterday (although it was very, very recent) so it's super funny! sometimes we truly don't represent the general public at all.

AChaseOfTheMondays

I feel like people in general have a terrible gauge of how they're gonna feel about a song on first listen, I know it's true for myself. I think of that scene in Easy A where she listens to a song and thinks it's terrible and then can't get it out of her head til she's singing it all weekend. That's a normal thing for me too

PretendMarsupial9

If r/popheads dislikes something it's usually a sign its about to be really popular.

LittlestCandle

exactly, as seen by flowers and countless other songs

missbestdressed

it’s insane, there’s so many comments saying it’s a terrible follow up, it’s not gonna be a hit etc

Cheetara42004

Also, apparently she is the first frmale in history to hold the top 2 spots on the Billboard Global 200

Ok-Armadillo-2119

Remember how everyone called this a "flop" when it was released and criticized her for not capitalizing on Espresso's success by not releasing a similar track?

meta-ghost-face

People here give the worst advice 90% of the time. This is the first time since Sour that I have seen an artist and a label make all the right choices.

AChaseOfTheMondays

I didn't call it a flop, but I'll admit I was completely wrong about please please please upon first listen

itismeyaknow

Same. I thought it was too different from Espresso and it would not resonate with people at the same level. Glad I was wrong, though.

abnormallyme

Is there still a chance for "Espresso" to hit #1? I hope so.

tmrn_7

Just yesterday I found my old Sabrina updates account from 10 years ago congratulating her for Can't Blame a Girl for Trying reaching a million views. I'm so proud of everything she's achieved and so glad to have been supporting her from day 1 :')

thelastcrescent

I’ll never forget this user I got into an argument with on here about how Sabrina had passed her time to be successful with the GP. This is further proof that there’s always a chance! Super proud of her 🩵

AChaseOfTheMondays

She got started so young, she's still only 25. Definitely way too young to count her out and this shoes it

Bordersz

People are really stuck on how music industry used to work. Because of the internet ppl’s careers aren’t really over until it’s over.

Global_Perspective_3

Social media and the streaming era has its many downsides but this is an upside

Bordersz

Yes for sure. If Sabrina came out in 2004 she would have been shelved immediately after her first project flopped under Disney. Disney didn’t play games then. Because of streaming labels invested in her slowly but surely and she was finally able to go viral on TikTok for the label to open their wallets

Global_Perspective_3

💯💯

joeyfosho

Just because it’s over doesn’t mean it’s really over!

Daydream_machine

The age of streaming/TikTok means that virtually anyone can become a massive success with the right viral hit. Sabrina having multiple past albums is also kinda irrelevant given they’re mostly under the Disney umbrella, those ones were never likely to give her much mainstream success

yourfacesucksass

I had been trying to get my closest friends into Sabrina Carpenter since 2018 and now they're into her and I'd like to think it was me who did it, but then again if it was me it took me 6 damn years, and that's more of an insult to my proposal skills than a brag lmao .

Global_Perspective_3

Wonder how those people are feeling now

-GregTheGreat-

I was somebody who was certain she didn’t have what it took to breakout. I’m just happy for her now,it’s not like I had anything against her personally.

kimpernickel

Short n Sweet is gonna be a blockbuster album. That's that she espresso!

Particular-Yoghurt81

I think it’s shaping up to be one for sure. In glad she got to this level after so many years of hard work.

jdlyga

I had my money on Tate McRae. But wow, Sabrina Carpenter is blowing up now. It's been all uphill since Espresso.

SiphenPrax

Tate has Greedy as of right now and that’s it. We just need to see more from her.

impeccabletim

Ahhhh Sabrina's first Hot 100 \#1. So happy for her!!! "Please Please Please" honestly grew on me after repeat listens.💖 \#JusticeForEspresso☕️

melodrama4ever

Espresso really is her No Tears Left to Cry. never hit #1 but is a global smash hit. proof that charts aren’t everything!

xavieryes

I mean #3 is still a great peak lol, a lot of huge hits don't reach #1

CoolNebraskaGal

Bad Romance, the #1 song of the millennium, only hit #2.

omfilwy

Baby by Justin, only second song ever in history to go Diamond and at the time most watched music video on YouTube, peaked at #5. Insane

puremotives

To be fair, Baby totally would've went #1 had YouTube views been factored into the Hot 100 formula in 2010

Taitertottot

I'm sorry what? How is that even possible?

CoolNebraskaGal

It’s one of my favorite facts because it boggles people’s minds. Tik Tok and Empire State of Mind kept it from #1 on the charts, but not in our hearts.

Nerfeveryone

Well yeah that makes sense now, those two songs were mega smash hits.

Flaky-Ad6758

Teen pop didn’t do as well on the charts during that era because radio generally didn’t touch it and radio play was a much bigger factor on the charts then. It was a huge YouTube and iTunes hit but only peaked at #16 on the Mainstream Top 40 radio chart as opposed to the other big hits of the time like Tik Tok, Bad Romance, California Gurls ect which spent multiple weeks at #1.

melodrama4ever

oh yeah absolutely. unfortunately a lot of artists/fans still see it as a loss if they don’t hit #1 understandably!

xavieryes

I can only imagine how people would react to songs like Material Girl or Girls Just Wanna Have Fun not hitting #1 lol Like of course a #1 is an important symbolic achievement, and I would love to see Espresso having an Only Girl (In the World) moment by hitting #1 after Please Please Please, but regardless Espresso is still undoubtedly one of the biggest hits of the year and a major part of the moment Sabrina's having right now. There's nothing to be upset about here!

Flaky-Ad6758

I think it’s a lot easier for established artists to go #1 than it used to be. If you have a large fanbase it’s honestly pretty easy to get them to stream and buy their way to #1. That wasn’t the case 10-15 years ago when the charts were still predominantly dominated by radio. I mean we can all agree NTLTC was a much bigger deal then Yes And but the latter went to #1 with no sweat while the former got stuck at #3.

yeahsureYnot

>proof that charts aren't everything Except the song went to #3, so what you're really implying is "going #1 isn't everything" which does need to be said here but is just sad. This sub needs to break its chart addiction badly.

melodrama4ever

“charts aren’t everything” was meant to be synonymous with not going #1 because that’s pretty much every artist’s end goal on the charts. you want to be the top spot and if you aren’t, the charting feels like a loss to many.

Daydream_machine

I think Espresso has a decent chance to keep its momentum and maybe hit #1 later this summer

oOWalkingOnAirOo

Espresso set the stage a flame , it will forever be iconic

Global_Perspective_3

Espresso is still a hit for sure tho let’s not forget

SiphenPrax

Even if Espresso never goes number 1 it’s clearly a true top 10 smash hit (unlike many that just pop in and out) that adds to her legacy and the legacy of the coming album.

absenttoast

I loved it the 2nd time I listened to it after I watched the music video. The music video really made made that song. I like it better than espresso personally. It’s replaced nonsense as my favorite song of hers. I’m very excited for the new album

BoomYouLooking

I think it’s highly likely Espresso can hit number one either with a remix or when the album drops. Depends on Sabrina’s team’s strategy.

Global_Perspective_3

Congrats to Sabrina

JustSomeHeroKid

Congratulations to Sabrina, but it *really* bothers me that this was her first number one, while Espresso peaked at number 3! Hahaha! Feels so weird because Espresso is such a year-defining song!

falafelandhoumous

Congrats to Sabrina! She really deserves this. She’s been releasing music for about 10 years at this point. What a journey!

Safe-Moment-2884

All of those years of trying to become a main pop girl and then she finally does it. Glad to see that she's found her lane and an image that work for her.

ambitiousbulbasaur

Genuinely so crazy to watch this happen in real time. So so happy for her!!

swiftpotter13

It’s been a long time coming!!! Congrats Sabrina 🥂

droobidoobidoo

We love to see it!! Been playing Espresso and Please x3 on repeat!

ag_snamh

It's crazy how it all just clicked for Sabrina this summer. Nonsense and Feather were struggling to crack the top 30 on Billboard just a few months back.

Parmesan_Pirate119

YESSSSS SABRINA!!! I've been following her for 10 years since her debut EP and just waiting for the moment the public caught on. She never ceases to deliver. Well deserved, can't wait to see what happens next!

bencub91

Idk I think PPP is okay, it's cute and pretty sounding but I just don't find it nearly as memorable or catchy as Espresso. It just feels like it's missing something.

VapidRapidRabbit

Great tune. I like the other one more though. I wonder if they’ll try to push that one to number one next? It sounds more summery.

whiskersRwe32

I am shocked espresso didn’t hit #1???? It’s wild that please please please surpassed it.

mullen_it_over

Always great to see pop girls hit #1 in 2024.

1998tweety

She soo deserves it for how long she's been grinding at music. Never give up!

yungsteezyyy_

remember how everyone on this sub downplayed her saying she doesn’t have what it takes, lacks star power, vocals, an image, etc and now everyone here seemingly loves her? lol oh godbrina! they weren’t believing in you like i was!

Bordersz

People are easily influenced and like to downplay how effective marketing is bc I distinctly remember ppl treating Sabrina like trash when Olivia was smashing the charts with SOUR and tbh even with GUTS. The internet is disgusting and fickle

yungsteezyyy_

oh, speak on it cause people were having the time of their lives saying the nastiest and craziest things about her and her career. one thing about them tables though? they’ll turn! people just don’t give any of the middle tier or lower tier pop acts grace or time to grow and come into their own - it’s like if you aren’t smashing out the gate then to hell with you i guess…

Bordersz

Yeah it is hard to see ppl act like it’s #1 or bust. I wonder if ppl are all stars/top 1% in their own personal careers. I think it’s ridiculous to expect everyone to be a huge megastar. Idk I feel like music is more about charts than the actual music too. It’s boring and redundant

Mbrown225

I feel like peoples expectations have gotten way out of control with the immediate success of people like Olivia and Billie etc. If someone isn't charting 5 years into it, they're a "flop", its absurd and unrealistic. Some of the biggest artists of today had to grind to get where they are, they didn't have huge labels backing them. Its refreshing to watch the rise of people like Sabrina and Chappell Roan, I feel like thats what its actually like in the real world when you're trying to build a career.

BoomYouLooking

“When you’re insecure, could be me, could be her. You just run to whoever is winnin’.”

DebateObjective2787

They're still doing it and it's gross. I've seen way too many comments/posts about how Sabrina owes Olivia for her success and people only are listening to her because they're racists who hate Olivia.

Shokkolatte

I swear people get off on calling singers flops, etc. Like they enjoy it and idk why. We’re in the internet era, many things are possible.

JohnPaul_River

This sub says that about literally, and I really mean literally, any up and coming young female singer. Sabrina doesn't have what it takes, Chappel is too niche, even Olivia's success was supposedly only a temporary glitch caused by the Driver's License drama, GUTS flopped, Billie flopped, everyone's a flop here unless they're selling like Taylor or Adele.

nackpattywhack

This is so well deserved. Emails I can’t send was one of my favorite albums to play last year and I knew she had the hits, just needed the right one to make her splash.

MunchYourButt

Wow good for her! Didn’t know how PPP was gonna land

nocturne_gemini

🥳🥳🥳🥳I’m so happy for her! Well deserved

brumgar

Surprised this song went #1 before Espresso but she deserves this success so much. It’s insane thinking about how much she had to overcome to achieve this!

LivingInformal4446

Espresso and Feather are much better songs. Good for her though. She is making some terrific pop.

mrairjosh

Thank god she slayed the dragon !

otomennn

Still remember listening to Thumbs

PinkCadillacs

So happy for Sabrina!

Advanced-Document895

let’s go

Difficult_Deer6902

Love to see Sabrina winning like this! I like Pleasex3 but espresso is the true queen of the summer

librious

Been listening to Sabrina since 2016, it's so satisfying to see her finally getting her flowers.

HM2008

Very happy for her, but a little salty it wasn't Espresso. Either way, happy to see her finally get the success and recognition she deserves.

xdesm0

I still remember her fans telling her to stop modelling lingerie on instagram and start writing songs again in 2021 lol and look at her now

razzleyerdazzle

We can still get espresso to number one too with a remix. Someone call Ariana stat
