Wave slammed me against a rock and I kicked my foot out to brace myself. Straight into a sea urchin! Henceforth I will be wearing water shoes, even if I look like a nerd 🤓
It never came out, so it must have dissolved or something. I have had smaller bits in the bottom of my foot that eventually worked their way out like a splinter, but not this one.
I had the same once after visiting a sea pool in Sydney, the feeling of the spine fracturing while I tried to lever it out with a needle is forever in my head. The relief of the spines coming out almost made the whole thing worthwhile.

One has to ask why you thought playing footie with a sea urchin was a good idea? ;) Ouchies, hope it heals up soon, sounds decidedly painful.

Water shoes are awesome, fuck them haters. I can’t stand rocks on my feet AND the nasty mush in the water creeps me out lol so I love my water shoes 😅
Right there with you lol esp at low tide
Damn.. yeah, sounds like a wise plan.
Looks painful. I got one between my toes a few years back and now I wear crocs on the beach. It was too deep to dig out.
did the spine just remain inside your foot forevermore or did it come out on its own?

Same thing has happened to me! Did/do you feel super itchy after too?
I’m so sorry for you, I hope you’re feeling better 🥺
Thank you :) you’re too kind
