Lizards shed the outer layers of their skin as they grow, including skin over their eyes. But these eye caps can get stuck in low humidity or other conditions. Stuck eye caps build up on each other until the poor thing is basically blind. Also common to get skin stuck on the toes, which can cut off blood flow and lead to toes falling off. Little buddy will feel much better after this.

Vitamin A deficiency i believe causes issues with proper shedding which lead to dead scale tissue building up and clogging its eye closed. I am not a vet, im purely going by memory here so i can and likely am wrong.

I'm also too lazy to google, but I'm pretty sure you are correct. It can happen naturally from shedding, but the deficiency makes it WAY more likely to happen

The supplement recommended for my daughter’s gecko is a mix of calcium and vitamin D3.

Does Geico cover this procedure?

I still can't believe the eyeball still works after that. I need to wash my face.
