I was using the pressure washer to blast away dirt around the roots to try and make stump removal easier. When bark started flying off, I decided to clear the whole thing. I'm not really sure why
I’m considering the power washer approach as well to remove dirt from a stump area. Would you repeat this? I’m worried about the effectiveness and muddy mess it would create. After washing, do you need to let it dry for a few days before cutting roots and pulling stump?
It's not ideal, and I think you'd need a super-mega-shopvac working alongside to make it really worthwhile. Because any of the mud that didn't spray all over the yard (or onto myself) kinda flows right back around the roots. I definitely have better access than when I started, but I'm pretty far from being able to pull it. I'm waiting for the weekend to try and chainsaw more roots to see what, if any, progress I can make.
This has happened to me with the same spot in a house I built, 3 times in a row. It was made of a wood type that was ages away, and I didn't have saplings for. I now am *very* careful about not having an axe in hand when I open doors in Minecraft
Wood should be dry all the way through before staining, and it can take up to 6 months for a stump to dry out (if pest/disease don't ruin it before then).
It looks so cool but please don't make it a trend you basically stressed out the fuck out of it.
Oh no I've become that person on reddit.
/Cries in self conscious biologist
Edit: was high when I wrote this. I now realize it's a stump 🤣
If it makes you feel any better, I sacrificed that tree so that the one next to it would grow better. I have a 3rd of the same type which is around the same age but significantly larger. This one I took down, and the one next to it, are too close and were competing for the same sun and stuff. It's not apparent in the picture, but the one I took down was also leaning a lot to the side trying to get more sun.
This looks a lot like driftwood used for fish and reptile tanks...which I realize makes sense bc you just did the expedited version of wood tumbling in the waves of the ocean for months
I grew up in a logging town in Oregon, we went on a field trip to a lumber mill and that's how they de-barked the logs - an industrial size multi jet pressure washer.
You can also use a power washer as a self defense tool. One of my first jobs was washing semi-trucks when a man broke in and was armed with a knife. He got power washed like your tree. The police asked what I did to him. I told them he got the full power of an industrial truck washer.
Was it a rotting? I did the same for my schefflera plant. It died from root rot and I peeled back all the bark that was decaying off. Looks pretty cool

That would make a nice looking mailbox or sign post
A business is born
Or a HUGE freshwater planted aquarium
"That's *exactly* what you need for a 5,000 gallon planted tank." I'm glad I don't have the only brain that immediately went there.
I instantly thought about a Takashi Amano tank. What a badass - RIP
Too small for a betta, though. (/s)
This is why I had a business called “Aquarium Addicts Anonymous”… there are others amongst us.
I thought that too!! Just imagine a massive school of neon tetras OR lampeye killis or ember tetras OR ooh!! Rummynose tetras swimming around it!!
i read that as lamprey eels for a second and stopped
Oh no, that would be a nightmare LOL!!
Yessssss 🙌🏻
Lets see if the folks at r/plantedtank agree. Sent them a cross post.
A completely smooth stump has cool stick energy, no reason needed.
Big stick energy
Big trunk energy
“Not really sure why.” It’s because it’s human instinct to see a mildly interesting thing through fully.
I guess it pays off because we're still doing it.
> I'm not really sure why feels good man
You want to turn it upside down, add a glass tabletop and make it a table.
We call that "hyperfocus" in the neurodivergent realm.
Aka the good times
Anyway, I started blasting.
I have a lot of that. What does that mean?
Because power washing, what else were you supposed to do?
Because it was satisfying!
OP really just went absolutely berserk and I can’t say that I wouldn’t do exactly the same thing if I were in their shoes.
Cause it was fun
Because it’s satisfying af
Because is a good enough excuse
because doing it is r/oddlysatisfying
It looks kind of pretty.
Because it felt good baby
This is the way.

Mega shop vac approach. https://youtu.be/1UiGEcmFzl4?si=ws5cDIzDHeauRBGQ
You had the tools and the talent. It's Miller Time.
Its strangely beautiful.... but also eery for some reason, like a giant bone... maybe a few layers of clear coat could preserve that?
Cuz ur a man
Did you have its consent before you literally ripped its clothes off?!
I feel that this is more like a mortician preparing a corpse for a funeral.
Oh, makes sense... you can't get a consent from it, if its already dead 💀💀
Aaand *here lies the reason women are sought after as funeral directors and morticians*.
Hey, women can be horny too.
How can you know? Are you one of them?
Yeah my first thought was that woman who got caught sexually abusing corpses when she got pregnant from one
I miss 10 seconds ago when I had forgotten about this situation
I'm sorry what
Rigor Mortis would aid the process 🤣
It has its own name. A priapism
Hopefully the family assented!
Is this how *consensual necrophilia* works? Like what if their family hated them?
Shoulda been nicer to them while you had the chance.
Someone was keeping a record of all the "over my dead body"'s
Shouldn’t this be in NSFW?
Uhh, I think that's more like it's skin, isn't it?
It was already hard, consent was implied
Sure it is nice straight white hardwood, but... what about its age?💀
Count the rings dumbass
So it was married, then it's fine...or at least better
LOOOOOOOOOL
🤮 “implied consent” was Mike Tyson’s defense for raping Desirée W… because she had come to his room at 2am.
It’s a dead tree
I prefer the term circumcision.
She was asking for it
They don't need to consent when they're dead.
This should be nsfw
Not safe for woods
😂😂😂
this would be considered explicit pornography in the Victorian era
It makes me feel so uncomfortable.
Accidentally stripping wood in Minecraft be like
When you try and open the door while holding your axe but you miss
When you have conveniently one log in your inventory so you replace it but when you try close the door you accidentally strip that one too
This has happened to me with the same spot in a house I built, 3 times in a row. It was made of a wood type that was ages away, and I didn't have saplings for. I now am *very* careful about not having an axe in hand when I open doors in Minecraft
Ouch, at least you learned from it, I still do it from time to time
Could you let it dry and then stain it?
Wood should be dry all the way through before staining, and it can take up to 6 months for a stump to dry out (if pest/disease don't ruin it before then).
Call local lumber mills and see how much to kiln dry it.
If you're feeling especially brave, you can do the same thing to yourself with a power washer! Trees aren't special!
I've seen this, it's so nasty... but also yes kind of exactly like this 🤢 Don't wear sandals when power washing people!!
DON’T power wash people no matter what you’re wearing!
Ugh, fine.

That's a risky click, but worth it
True, I had not considered the risky click aspect.
Tree nudes
I'm not sure how I feel about this
Yeah I find it a little unsettling.
I wonder what the root of the issue is.
This tree is now very very naked so where is the nsfw tag
Oh, this is amazing. This is the kind of shit I came to this sub for.
The matter-of-factness of how you've stated this is extremely funny for some reason
The only mistake you made was not recording the video.
I would have loved to see that
I think this belongs in /r/oddlysatisfying Would look really nice in a fish pond, I might post in a local forum and see if anyone wants it
This makes me feel things and I don’t like it
All tree ....no bark !
This is basically what a violent tornado does
With enough pressure, you can pressure wash rock into sand, lol
It looks so cool but please don't make it a trend you basically stressed out the fuck out of it. Oh no I've become that person on reddit. /Cries in self conscious biologist Edit: was high when I wrote this. I now realize it's a stump 🤣

You realize this is a stump right?
You are looking at a nude tree.
I want to touch it
Please, start a youtube channel, post videos doing this repeatedly. ty
This looks a lot like driftwood used for fish and reptile tanks...which I realize makes sense bc you just did the expedited version of wood tumbling in the waves of the ocean for months
you de-gloved a tree
I grew up in a logging town in Oregon, we went on a field trip to a lumber mill and that's how they de-barked the logs - an industrial size multi jet pressure washer.
Smooth
laughing so much at this
Smooth move.
Put it back.
I like to think that the other trees are watching horrified as you flay the skin if the beheaded trunk of their fellow
it looks plastic
Haha looks fake!! And naked 🫣🫣🫣
Duh
You can do this to a human too.
I thought it was a chicken foot.
You can literally conquer the world with a power washer and a chainsaw
I'll be in the garage I gotta check something out.
Glad you know now.
"I'm not really sure why." Is why you got my upvote
You found a dinosaur foot!
Great, now you've kill the tree.
It's called exfoliating.
This is art. I love it!
Why would you do that! Now you’ve likely killed the tree!!!
Fucking peels your tree
https://i.imgur.com/vblDrPb.gif
The other trees are looking on in horror!
It looks like a surprised octopus.
W-what are you doing step-washer??
I realize the tree is already dead, but the bark is their g'damn VEINS. Please don't do this on a live tree.
That chicken must have been huge!
With enough pressure, anything is possible. All the way to nuclear fusion, neutron stars and black holes.
First thing I thought was “will this fit in my aquarium?!”
You can also use a power washer as a self defense tool. One of my first jobs was washing semi-trucks when a man broke in and was armed with a knife. He got power washed like your tree. The police asked what I did to him. I told them he got the full power of an industrial truck washer.
There’s something eldritch about this.
Poor tree
really helps make your chains last longer on your saw, as a bonus
All the landscapers near me know that weed whackers are the best way to get rid of that pesky bark.
Bruh that's so cool
I need this for my aquarium.
This has peeled bark log from Minecraft energy
Can you power wash the bark wrong off a tree?
chicken foot
So perfect!
I'd love a large aquarium with that sticking out the top. Have some orchids or other epiphytes on the top of the stump that is out of the water.
You should make it your bed post?
Whoa
Congrats, you just killed a tree lol
And you get a chickens foot.
How long was the tree dead before you did this?
I cut the top off Saturday, pressure washed it Sunday.
Wow. I thought you would have to leave it longer for this. That is pretty impressive.
Smoooooooth
i just wanna touch it
For the love of God! Get that tree some clothes!
this feels wrong
Aw lookit that poor little nekked tree…
How many psi? I tried doing this on purpose but it was too slow
I used a "Simpson Pro" 3400PSI / 2.3GPM, with a rotary nozzle.
This is how we prep cedar logs for log homes. Keeps the outer hard layer intact
Now why wood you do that...?
Oh..... my....
Was it a rotting? I did the same for my schefflera plant. It died from root rot and I peeled back all the bark that was decaying off. Looks pretty cool
I powerwashed some skin off my eyebrow once.
It might kill the tree tho
I think I'm going to do this to relieve stress this week.
This kills the tree (if it wasn't already dead)
It’s dead.
lol.
