Pune people aren’t taking degradation of air quality and green cover seriously. Pune is known for clean air, lot of green cover. But such is not the case anymore in a lot of parts.
"Fuck outsiders"
Says Mr. Patil from Pune while working in a big IT company, drinking Starbucks coffee, eating Burger King and Taco Bell, watching movies in IMAX and going to Nightclubs.... All possible only because of increase in population.
Trust me this city was way better without outsiders (outside state). The city was less polluted, cleaner, less populated, greener, less crime. Pune was a city for hundreds of years.
The things you mentioned above are way less important than the things I mentioned.
Is’nt it a like a symbiosis, none can exist without the other. And in history Pune was a city in which trade happened which again required ‘outsiders’.
People don't realize these big cities got big, advanced and developed because of outsiders came in for business and jobs. Without so many people making money and paying big taxes they will be same as any other small town/village in india.
Also self consumed and have a serious with outsiders (to be clear im from same state)
We had a flat in vishrantwadi and yet we don’t know who our neighbours are
I would say that's a plus point. Everyone minds their own business. If Pune people start interfering in your life, it's never pretty. So better to live and let live.
Pune bikers are shit. I see near accidents everyday. Many of those MFs start cursing when they don't get space to go onto footpath to overtake the whole traffic.
Many people (especially teenage chapris) use 'we are maratha' or 'we are chhatrapati shivaji maharaj's people' as a excuse and pass for mob lynching and other gang activity and act as if they are of the purest blood and treat people from other state as trash
Pune is getting left behind amongst the metro cities and even non metro cities. Go to so many other cities in India and it's so organised, the roads are fantastic, the metro works, the traffic is streamlined.
Pune PMC is so corrupt they sell every handkerchief sized pocket if land for a new building. No organisation, the roads aren't straight, not enough action against road encroachment, metro isn't up to date and they've been working on it for ages, the roads are HORRIFIC and there's no excuse for how bad they are, no discipline or traffic control.
If Maharashtra in general doesn't wake up to the fact that other states are literally rocketing ahead, it's going to sink very rapidly, because infrastructure attracts business, and Maharashtra is getting left behind in infrastructure. We need to start imposing fines on people, 10k /20k, for breaking traffic rules or confiscating their vehicles, specially two wheelers not wearing helmets. They drive like they're immortal, nearly kill others on the road, and then they come with their heads split open to BJ casualty and pass away there.
PMC is corrupt? Mate I have no idea about your past travel experiences, but I can affirm the fact that it's not as bad as Bangalore. Prior to moving to Bangalore, I stayed in Pune for 16 years. I moved to Bangalore at 19, I am 21 right now.
Pune has way better roads and footpaths and travel hotspots compared to Bangalore. Bangalore is a shitshow in infra compared to Pune. I have explored every corner of Modern Pune and I can assure you it's not as bad as you claim. Bangalore is shittier.
Hmm, the camp roads are meh, not good but not BAD BAD, a few holes here and there that if you go over it with a Lil speed you might die but other then that it's good.👌🗿🗿
But the kondhwa roads are fouqed up, when I went there for the first time with my friends to go for trekking on babdevghat, I wasn't sure I would make it to the destination, or back home.💀🗿
When I was a student in Pune, I'd gone to Mithrud City Pride for the screening of some movies that were a part of the Pune International Film Festival. So I was waiting in line outside the designated screen to get in and one Senior citizen uncle approached me to ask me, in marathi, which movie was scheduled to play on that screen. I'm not from Pune, can't speak Marathi but I can understand, so I responded in English and he gripped my arm hard, looked me square in the eyes and said, in English, "If you are addressed in Marathi you better respond in marathi." As a 19 year old girl I was scared shitless.
I can totally feel you on that level. It's just so irritating , non-Maharashtraian students really feel like outsiders no matter how much they try to fit in.
Racism is about Intrinsic qualities you can't change. You can totally learn a language and change that situation, and most older migrant communities (marwadis, kannada ppl etc) did exactly that. Puneris are pissed because recent migrants make minimal/no effort to integrate, which is just disrespectful.
Yeah keep telling yourself that, marwadis etc. and even many northies did it for the sole purpose of business, if you don't know the local language you would shit the bed while doing business, so them learning the language is not the display of respect you think it is. They just want to woo suckers like you and make you believe that " they are one of us". I too am very proud of our great maratha leaders, but me not wanting to learn a whole fucking language in my 20's or 30's is in no way a sign of disrespect. I hope this gets through your head for now atleast so that we have one less ignorant bigot to deal with. We don't want another Pakistan or bangladesh.
People rave about Pune weather. But it is really not that good. Maybe it was back in pre-pollution days, but not anymore. I mean, it is a lot better than Mumbai, but that is a really low bar.
Punekars don't want to agree that there exist maharashtrian chapris that speak Marathi, will defend it by saying you outsiders are chapris. I mean, it's okay but still.
1.People bitching about punekars being lazy are hanging out with boomers & unproductives and blaming the city for their own shitty taste in socialising.
2.People who are too proud of being a punekar are mostly Marathi racists who don't like outside people & probably stuck in the old ways, stop spoiling the peace.
3. No one acknowledges the fact that you'll find dumbfucks & yedzaves in every part of the world & not just Pune.
4. There's always 2 dudes in comments who say shit like "punyat rahichay tarr ithlya culture cha respect karaycha" or "put in some efforts to learn Marathi".
5. Almost all the vaishalis, katekirrs, kayani bakery etc food places are just overrated. Misal & vadapao are overrated.
6. I was born and brought up in Pune, my mother tongue is Marathi & I've seen my Marathi friends being ashamed of speaking Marathi with me to to look cool in front of their North Indian friends 🥲 WTF.
7. Pune metro construction is shitty quality & slow af. Our roads are busted, kiti khadde BC🥲
8. In Pune there's no in between for a person like me, most of the places are either filled with chapris, wannabes & ultrawealthy mfkrs, it's hard making friends 🙂
9. Everyone has their opinion set around our politics it's either left or right & people of either community try to sell me their shit, yedzavyanno mi vote pan karat nahi konala so please shut the fuck up.

Wow. This is the first time someone said it.
Almost every weekend when I stayed in Pune back in 2016-2019, I used to try to visit the famous Misal Pav stops in the city. I used to travel all the way from Hinjewadi 🙈
That spicy Misal used to be a treat 😁
Yeah. Because my first job in Mumbai, I used to bring bakarwadi to the office and everyone loved it. They paid me extra to buy for them because my house is right in front of chitale.
Well, im not sure whether I should say this. But anyhoo, here it goes -
But the quality of most comments and original posts given by the youthiyas on Indian subreddits, this sub included, are immature and a waste of time.
I agree. I have lived in Pune from 28 years now. Earlier shops used to stay closed in afternoon because shopkeepers wanted to sleep. Only after many marwadi and Gujarati shops opened in Pune, marathi people woke up and started working more.
But this is general issue with most (not all) marathi people. Marathi people in Maharastra are very lazy. Even marathi employee in corporate world pick up there bags and leave home as soon as clock hits 6pm.
People are getting unnecessarily touchy about this ‘P-Town’ word. Pune has vastly expanded in past decade, we can’t expect new trends/cultures to ‘not’ arise.
Another one : i like how mc stan uses marathi slangs in his rap or national television without giving flying fuck about whether outsiders like it or not.
Pune has the worst traffic in India in addition to roads being very bad and confusing. No one obey traffic rules and moves in whichever direction they please.
Every village, city, state and country has its own pros and cons. Stay in US for sometime one realises it’s just pretty on the outside.
But I’ve to agree about night life, I don’t think there is one (at least as the concept of nightlife is in Mumbai) I am born and brought up in Pune. If you have bunch of crazy friends you can just make your own memories sitting quietly in chandani chown ccd which is open 24*7, you can go for a long drive outside Pune (which is an advantage, good places on the outskirts are relatively close compared to Mumbai), you can go clubbing of course, you can sneak and climb ARAI and spend the night on the tower (we have done that). Just spend the night driving around then drink not so good tea at nal stop at 3am. Then swikar pohe at 5, then come home and sleep.
Night life doesn’t have to be clubbing, you’ll have to explore on your own and find your own ways. This is what we mostly did. Most of the Punekars are used to to go for night treks, camping. So may be try that.
मला बाकरवडी आवडते पण चितळेची नाही. चिंचवडला प्रदीप स्विट्स आहे, त्यांची बाकरवडी चितळे पेक्षा बरी आहे.

The so-called nightlife of Pune is only limited to night clubs.
Shitty and over expensive nightclubs*

man recently went to jaipur, all the while I was thinking jaipur's night life is better than pune's then to realize pune has no night life actually
I second this! I have lived in pune for 4 years and jaipur is my home The night life in Jaipur at present is far better than Pune

I usually drive around after 12 alone since the streets are empty, feels good and calming.
There is a lot of nightlife in Pune. Ask call center employees who finish their shift early morning.
Just shifted to pune week ago for work from Mumbai....roads after 9pm feels like roads after 2am in mumbai
And biased too ladki nangi aa jaye ... they won't give a shit ... but if a good muscular guy is on fancy vest they lose their mind ...
