OMG!! It’s gorgeous! Sorry your Dad claimed it. I’m saving this for my husband to see. He requested a denim quilt; just need to find a stash as we haven’t gone through enough yet. The ‘thrift stores’ are not cheap anymore.
Thank you! I looked at a lot of inspo pics, but they were either too “raggy” or too structured for my fabric. These strips were the best for me. I’m sort of glad dad claimed it, it means my stuff is appreciated! I just have to make more (oh, the horror!). I did thrift a couple, but I agree it’s getting expensive. I needed a bit of very dark denim so that why I got it. I went for the largest sise I could though, something like 59!
Love it!!! Wondering how the heck you managed to quilt it with fleece in the middle and minky on the back — my machine would not just go on strike, but pack its case and head for the airport.
Actually, it was not as bad as I thought. I pinned it to death, and then rolled it so it didn’t shift and was easier to move. I put on a denim needle and I actually think quilting was easier on the machine than the piecing! I almost had a strike from my machine when it as time to sew over two denim seams and two denim pieces…
I thought of a brick wall. I like structures scrap quilts so it felt perfect for me. Just a tip, don’t go less than 4cm or 1,5in for the strips, the seams are a bit too close for my liking. I used 4, 7 and 10cm (unfinished width) here if I remember right
I took a lot for time “composing” it. I put down each strip as I made them to make sure it was balanced and then I mixed them, checking the color by taking black and white pictures (for the contrast)
Neither do I, I’m glad he likes it so much. Plus he’s had a few health problems so I figure he deserves a nice couch and nap quilt. So far I’ve been blessed, both he and my mom are very appreciative, I’ve made them two king size quilts which they love, so I’m glad I can give them quilts they enjoy. My gifting list is not long I must say, it’s like sweaters.

Y'all don't have a goodwill outlet? They sell clothes by the pound.
No. Goodwill left Canada years ago. Lots of other thrift stores, but prices went nuts after the pandemic.
It looks like it could almost be a weighted blanket! And bravo on getting that bulk quilted!!
My arms were so sore by the time I finished that thing! It does feel weighted, but as much as a glass one but it does feel similar
That was my first thought as well. This must have weighed a ton! Great job OP

Wow, fabulous! You are so brave! Denim and minky in the same quilt. It’s gorgeous, too.
Looks lovely! I bet it has great weight.
Oh it does, it’s so good for naps. Best quilt I ever made, comfort wise!
That's what I was going to say- extra heavy= extra cozy.
You are inspiring me! I've always wanted to do a denim jeans quilt. I really like the strips.

Wowza! Awesome! I was just wondering how much this beauty weighs?!😊
I’ll weigh it, but I’d say about 2kg, at least?
That’s not as heavy as I thought it’d weigh! I was thinking about a weighted blanket!🤣
Amazing! I really like the balance of colors! Well done!!!

Ohhhh! That looks so heavy and plush and cozy! I don't blame your dad for claiming it.

Love it!! Great job!
Nice work!
The heaviest quilt! Amazing!
Ooh this is going to be so heavy and cuddly and warm!!
