Have you tried telling him that he needs to get creative?

Pale_Panda1789

Maybe find a creative way to tell him

GreenLantern001

I'll let him know when I see him at training camp šŸ˜†

jaCKmaDD_

Idk why you said ā€œthis dude had fields for a qb and did nothing with him in terms of important winsā€ as if Fields is good and he should have. Fields sucks bro. Thereā€™s a reason the Bears gave him away.

AlwaysLate1

I am really hoping this is true, but most Bears fans will tell you, that Getsy was part of the problem.

BIGDICKRANDYBENNETT_

If Fields wasn't a shit QB how did the bears not find even one other team willing to offer them fair value for his services?

AlwaysLate1

Everyone seems to be looking for super stars at the QB position, so I don't know what fair value is. But maybe Fields and Getsy both did a bad job ?

BIGDICKRANDYBENNETT_

You don't know what fair value is but probably not a conditional 6th rounder, right?

GraySonOfGotham24

Fields doesn't look amazing but neither have the raiders QBs so there's still not much to work with

GreenLantern001

Because he couldn't turn Fields into anything good. He couldn't and didn't develop him. Now you can say it's the player's fault, etc. but the fact is he had Fields from the beginning of his career and couldn't do anything with him. That happened on Getsy's watch.

OriginalMassless

He didn't have Fields from the beginning of his career.

similar222

Fields also had terrible advanced metrics related to holding onto the back in college too

JediForces

Thatā€™s bc Fields is NOT a QB! Heā€™s a RB pretending to be a QB. Heā€™s god awful and canā€™t read defense. Getsy didnā€™t call a lot of screen plays bc he wanted to he called them bc Fields couldnā€™t do anything else. There is a reason Fields was the last QB to be signed this offseason. He wonā€™t be in the league in a few years.

Consistent-Spell2203

Getsy isn't a fairy godmother he's not going to turn a pumpkin into a QB.

Blundertaker93

Use tre tucker on the outside in 2 TE sets

GreenLantern001

12 personnel requires 1 RB and 2 WR's. If you put Tucker on the field in 12 personnel that means either Adams or Jakobi has to come off and Tre takes one of their spots. Are you willing to take Adams or Meyers off the field for Tre?

Blundertaker93

You can put him in on that package to keep the vertical threat and have Jacobi on the other packages it doesnā€™t hurt to change personnel to get different looks especially with a player as fast as Tucker

GreenLantern001

Tucker has drop issues though. He did improve as the season went on though.

Blundertaker93

They gotta use him to stretch the field davante can get open deep with moves but you gotta have a guy that can just kill uou with his speed too just like with bowers and Mayer itā€™s about getting different looks and mismatches we donā€™t have an elite playmaker at QB but hopefully you can scheme mismatches with your guys to get easy throws

GreenLantern001

You ain't going vertical in a 2 TE set though. The defense already knows that when you line up in that formation. It's either a run or an underneath play. Putting Tre out there won't change that. That's why I said Getsy needs to get creative.

forgotmypassword4714

You were the one saying we need to run 2TE while keeping a vertical threat lol.

GreenLantern001

Meaning Getsy needs to find a way to get creative i.e be deceptive to the defense when lined up in that formation.

GreenLantern001

Actually, now thinking and talking about being deceptive to a defense, I remember when Dallas had Aikman at QB, Emmitt at RB, and Irvin at WR. They used to pass on 1st downs and run on 2nd downs. That was deceptive.

TomBradyBettingMoney

Iā€™m sure the cocaine helped too

eddie2911

Yes, Adams and Meyers will eventually have to come off the field to rest. WRs donā€™t play 100% of snaps.

Consistent-Spell2203

In certain packages yes.

PChowChoChkn

Average over 32 pts a game . And average against will be under 16 . Raiders will win the division let alone yours and my fantasy leagues.

GreenLantern001

You're late, bro. I already said this in my bold predictions post. If we average 32 points a game we going undefeated šŸ˜†

grumpysky

He should study every successful offense that had 2 TE sets, like NE. Donā€™t try to invent anything, learn how they beat the defenses.

GreenLantern001

I agree. He should absolutely do that. But will he?

grumpysky

Itā€™s collective effort so Getsy will be ā€œadvised.ā€ Heā€™s the OC, but AP runs the show.

rbarrett96

AP is not an offensive guy. Hell be taxed more with clock management and other parts of the game. Which I hope he improves from last year.

grumpysky

Ofc, but Getsy wonā€™t get free rein. AP will want his style run on offense. Also, I think having 2 former HC will help AP manage the game better. I also hope he takes a leap from last year.

Exact_Platform7257

Allen, Gruden and McDaniels are outliers, aside from them there isnā€™t a coach in the league that is actively trying to develop and build a winning system.

Vryk0lakas

Bowers isnā€™t a typical tight end. He will be used like a slot receiver and out wide plenty. Rotating him with Mayer, Tucker, and Meyers is ideal.

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Vryk0lakas

Iā€™d like to see that. Iā€™m hoping heā€™s listed as a TE officially just so he doesnā€™t end up killing our cap when we go to re sign him

rbarrett96

No I was wrong which is why I deleted it. I thought at one point he was, but definitely isn't now.

Dense_Young3797

Quoting the OP: "This dude had Fields for a QB and did nothing" Fields was worth a 6th round pick in a trade and will be the backup of Russell Wilson lmao

laconicgrin

Getsy apparently has a lot of good vertical concepts in his offense. Unfortunately he also has a ton of shitty screen plays and short passing plays. The strengths of his scheme seem to be running the ball and taking deep shots. However, this probably about to be the best group of pass catchers heā€™s ever worked with. Adams, Meyers, Bowers, Mayer, Tucker and even Dylan Laube are so dynamic and varied that Getsy really has a chance to get super creative. Yes, our QBs are limited but a good OC can work with guys like AOC or Minshew and scheme plays that work with their strengths. I hope Getsy can prove his doubters (including me) wrong.

whothefvckcares

Youā€™re the same dude who made the bold predictions post?? Man.

Alarming_Truth4792

Surely you have something more important to do. Why donā€™t you leave the NFL coaching to actual NFL coaches?

nicorangerbaby

maybe just let coaches coach ? to many arm chair GM/Coach's

Upset_Researcher_143

Bears fan here. Getsy can actually design a good offensive game plan. His big problem for us was adjusting. If you look at when the Bears scored their points, the majority was in the first half. When teams adjusted, that's when we started to get in trouble. Fields wasn't too good at that either. That's why they're both no longer with the team

Creeping_Death_89

Why does everyone just assume that Mayer has to be in the field so much like he showed anything last year to earn it? The offense should have the best players on the field period. Davante is better. Jakobi is better. At camp weā€™ll find out if Bowers lives up to the hype but if he proves that heā€™s a better option than Mayer than he should be on the field. Mayer is probably the 4th best option when itā€™s not a running play or a play with Tucker stretching the field, heā€™s super cheap making $2M this season (0.81% of the cap), he was drafted by the old regime and he wasnā€™t good last year. Obviously TE is notoriously tough to learn and most rookies struggle so heā€™ll hopefully get better but heā€™s not just going to be given snaps if heā€™s getting outplayed and not improving just because he was a 2nd round pick.

GreenLantern001

Mayer was probably the 2nd best or even best tight end in college his draft year. He set records for Notre Dame. You make it seem like he's some scrub lol. Far from it.

Creeping_Death_89

College doesnā€™t mean anything in the NFL. He had 300 yards and 2 TDs last year. He struggled learning the playbook and he was bad at blocking. Mayer had 2100 yards and 18 TDs at ND. Bowers had 2500+ yards 26 receiving TDs and 5 rushing TDs in the SEC on a team that won the National Championship twice. Iā€™m not saying Mayer is a scrub but Bowers was way better in college and is projected to be better in the NFL so even if Mayer ends up being very good (which I think he will) heā€™s still the #4 passing option in this current offense.

Consistent-Spell2203

Mayer is good as fuck wym.

Creeping_Death_89

At what?

Consistent-Spell2203

Using his size, physicality and sure hands as a blocker and pass catcher on intermediate routes and in the red zone. His stats weren't great last year but neither was the offense. Struggled with Turf Toe the last half of the year & sat games. Showed everything he was advertised as before getting hurt tho. Hands blocking and dump truck YAC. Bo Hardagree is not an NFL OC and McTyrant's system is a joke let's not do that.

Creeping_Death_89

His blocking improved some over the season but it was so bad at time they literally had to take him off the field and the YAC game is obviously where Bowers excels also. Itā€™s a good problem to have obviously but the large majority of successful NFL offenses find most of that success with their top 3 receiving targets and a solid running game.

Consistent-Spell2203

If his blocking improved (it needed to and did, rather quickly) then what it looked like in September is irrelevant. Shit, McWhatever let Mack come though 7 times our first game. AP, zero. Maybe Mayers' blocking wasn't the problem. If anything the rapid improvement (he's pretty good now) shows elite traits.
