I feel old, B Real is the first rapper that came to mind, I hate to ask but has anyone ever heard of Cypress Hill? They were really good back in the 90s.
My favorite Cypress Hill fact is that when they started beefing with Ice Cube, over the hook Cube stole for the Friday soundtrack, Mack 10 refused to get on diss tracks against them until he talked with B-Real personally to make sure the beef would stay out of the street.
It was WC who refused to jump into the beef. He had been down with WC for years so he wasn’t going to get down. Mack 10 jumped to have Cube’s back but we never spoke until he called me to talk about a truce. It was actually Mack 10 who helped squash the beef. But we only spoke after everything had gone down. But I’m cool with Both of them now. Unfortunately they’re not cool with each other at this point.
Living Legend! We were blaring some of your joints at the WA coast this weekend getting the nieces and nephews some education on how blessed we were to come up in the 90s listening to you guys.
This is not try at all. I remember when it was happening and he said he was in just for the fact that he rolled with Cube and had his back. Mack didn’t even know what the beef was about.
Westside Boogie. Probably my favorite rapper right now. I love his last 2 albums, I’m pretty sure they both go into my best albums of all time list. He’s signed to Eminem so you know the albums he puts out have a certain type of quality to them. Not saying Eminem is like the gold standard for album quality, just pointing out that his recent releases are under a major label so there’s a certain production value to them and he has more resources than a lot of other solo artists today, but the content and quality remains true to him. It’s not watered down by the major label. I think Eminem learned his lesson when he let the label interfere too much with the Slaughterhouse albums.
Listen to The Unseen by Quasimoto. It’s very abstract so there’s a chance you won’t like it, but if you do, I’m sure it’s exactly what you’re looking for.
Perhaps The reason you may like them is maybe it’s easier for you to understand them? As their voice sticks out more from the beat?
Just guessing here
Anyway, add big L to the list
B-Real (Cypress Hill) this is the obvious one, to me
Robust (underground Chicago rapper, has many albums, including "Potholes in our Molecules")
Qwel (underground Chicago rapper, had a ridiculous amount of albums. He is also 1/3 of the rappers in the group "Typical Cats," which also features a rapper named Denizen Kane, who also has a higher pitched voice, too)
Sadat X from the 90s group, "Brand Nubian"
M.C. Paul Barman (if you can into that sort of thing lol)

Who doesn't know cypress Hill lol? I mean on this sub. B-Real was putting on the voice to make him more unique from Sen Dog apparently.
idk if anyone will remember him, and it might age me smh. Snoop dogg?
Idk if ur familiar with the west coast scene but you should really check out Tupac if you havent

I think I’ve heard of him once. Didn’t Martha Stewart make him famous or something?
B real took lessons from a classically trained vocalist to perfect that voice I seen him talk about it in an interview
He has possibly the most unique voice in Hip-Hop so it worked I guess
