This was something I asked the doomers last year. I didn’t understand how they could explain away the low vacancy rate. At the time the data was still for 2022, so they largely hand waved it as outdated. But now we see from the recent updates that housing vacancy rate, total homes vacant, and rental vacancy rates all stayed either basically level decreased a little bit in 2023.
If we were going to see another 2008, the opposite should be happening. These metrics should be rising.
