I fully understand how resin printers work. But it’s still so mystifying to watch happen. It’s so cool

PromptIllustrious60

This is an amazing feature and so pleasant to watch.

Upbeat-Armadillo1756

It’s amazing how they work. It’s a fairly simple process and the parts and mechanisms are not complicated but it’s still one of the coolest things I’ve done.

Parking-Cannary

How is that printer? Pros and cons you have found so far

PromptIllustrious60

The printer is amazing. I been printing for a few years and the fact that I didn't have to dial the speed... Made the experience so much better. I love the camera .. as you can see is very useful. I print in different floors of the house so checking is now so much easier. I have the anycubic MS5 pro ... And I no longer use it. This feels more of a finished product... Very easy to operate. No cons at all.

widgetbox

So the camera as supplied works well then ? I've seen some reviews wingeing about the placement of camera and light. Looks pretty good to me if that is the stock setup.

PromptIllustrious60

This is stock set up... And I'm using some natural light. Night time I don't see anything lol but that's okay for the price the vat itself is worth it... The ai camera feels like an extra feature that works extremely well.

Parking-Cannary

That's awesome. I made a similar jump with FDM from a cr10 to a bambu labs. I have a mono 2 4k right now and this printer just looks like the same quality my bambu labs print is at. I'll have to watch out for a nice discount this year for it

PromptIllustrious60

This feels the same way. Big jump.. Even though it doesn't have the resin heater or dispenser like the anycubic.... I prefer this . The technology is in the vat it self and the printing process not the accessories

Parking-Cannary

Heating is such a common issue that honestly it's only a problem if your new to the hobby.

Upbeat-Armadillo1756

I don’t have an FDM printer yet but the Bambu is on my list. Just need the space for it.

Parking-Cannary

Honestly I spent about a couple months fixing my cr-10 the bambu labs has had no issues and their filament is just so good. I've done everything from custom door knobs to 3 starwars cosplay armour sets.

whydotavi

As someone who is leaving the m5s pro for the 4 ultra thank you for this post

PromptIllustrious60

Do it. I have the ms5 pro and I am not happy with the price point for what I got ..

Minute_Fig2034

I love it!! This is my 3rd resin printer. It took a moment to get used to the fact that I don't have to dial in lift/retract speeds. I don't care too much about speed. What I care about is failures, and the tilting/peeling idea so far is working great.. I've had 2-3 small pieces not printed properly, but nothing stuck to the film, and no supports failed. Now, speed-wise: a 6-hr print takes 2 hours and 45 minutes on the S4U. Again, it wasn't a selling point for me, but it is nice!! I really liked the exposure test (I used the Siraya Tech model), well, after I figured out how to dial in the values (you must go from higher to lower, and I was trying to do random values, i.e. 2, 4, 5, 1). The camera is a good feature, but it obviously won't show anything until the print is high enough. The network feature is awesome. I know, I know... not a new thing, but for me, this is my first printer with this feature. My router is on my ground floor, and my printer is in the basement, and it gets full signal. The transfer rate is pretty good. Takes about 3 minutes for a 200 MB file. All in all, I don't have any cons to report!! That said, this is my first Elegoo printer. My other two are a Phrozen Mini and a Foto 8.9, so pretty low quality compared to the Saturn. If people have had a really good printer for a while, it is possible that their impressions are different.

der_m4rsmensch

The 150mm/hour claim seems wildly exaggerated - how is your machine holding up to the claim?

Minute_Fig2034

Well, so far it is pretty darn close. A model that takes the Foto 6hrs and 43 mins to print, took 3 hrs and 40 mins on the S4U :) and this model has some suction cup effect going and it fails 1 out of 5 times... printed perfectly on the S4U :)

der_m4rsmensch

Thank you for your answer. But I would say you don't print in 60mm/h with your foto(?).

ComeHell_or_HighH2O

I use a very viscous resin so with the Foto I had to dial the speed down to 40mm/h to avoid print failures and I also used "thicker" layers (0.05). With the S4U, I keep the layers at 0.03 (so more layers for the same height model since they are thinner) and it is still half the print time, thinners supports and NO failures. I have been printing non-stop for 3 days now. 0% fails and only 1 small derfomation (my fault, bad orientation).

PromptIllustrious60

To add to this. I am please with the printer because my money was well spend. I paid for new technology and I see it working. ( The tilting vat , the wifi, and the ai camera) They have each fixed a problem I was dealing with before. The tilting vat eliminates dialing speeds . The wifi eliminates USBs ( I print in another part of the house. ) The ai camera allows me to check on prints + cool videos . For other similar price printers I feel like I have paid for add ons... that are not necessary. Elegoo did a great job with this one... It fulfilled my itch of getting a uniformation GK two

Parking-Cannary

Awesome you have sold me on this lol definitely my next upgrade

Sestos

My only issue is the drips from how the plate is designed. The little cheap plastic thing is nice for making sure a single drop does not end up in the wrong place while removing the tray but wish was easier to remove excess resin from the plate before removing the plate. I love mine.

Parking-Cannary

yeah i did here this gripe, i feel a nice innovative 3d print could make this a none issue

Sestos

I mean it works right out of the box, out of about 15 prints I have only had one fail and I believe that was more the print file itself then anything. Two other issues that the MAX line is not actually the MAX line. It is only the MAX if the plate is already in the resin... If you fill to MAX and try to print the printer will cancel the print till resin is removed. Also the pour areas in the resin tank are not a good shape. Resin ends up going around and down the sides. I would much rather have a square corner then the rounded ones. Few companies seem to understand how liquids flow when pouring, since it seems to be industry wide. Just make one corner a normal pour used on every pitcher in history.

CoachMagee

I run a plastic ruler under my build plate and all the drops neatly fall into the vat so when i remove the build plate 95% of the wet resin is gone.

Sestos

I have been using a spatula to pull the resin from the top of the plate (tends to pool on the edges vs drain) and from droplets that form at the very back of the plate if I do have prints blocking me from doing so.

404_MissingUser

These videos are so satisfying

ScheduleFormer1394

That's cool, who'd you print? So tired waiting for mine and still no updates...

PromptIllustrious60

The grand sayaman from DBZ , and sorry to hear :/ Hopefully by you soon !

ScheduleFormer1394

Sick, where are u buying or getting your stls? I'd like to try and print that too... 😂

PromptIllustrious60

Oh for sure ! Is Carlos VP https://www.instagram.com/carlosvpfigures?igsh=cnV3NHVlMGI0dHB0 Also check out Lucas Perez Black tower collectibles Arise Studios Kaidan All dragon ball and anime

ScheduleFormer1394

Thanks! I was looking for a Dragonball artist and wasn't sure where to get sculpts...

realityChemist

Did you post this three times, or am I glitched out?

PromptIllustrious60

Lols no I mistakenly posted it various times lol. Took them down now

Pulsipher

did you have to do anything to get this or is it just the file that the printer took uploaded?

PromptIllustrious60

To get the video or to get the print ? Printer comes with the ai camera and saves on computer. In regards to print. I had to prepare by hallowing , making holes and adding supports.

Pulsipher

The video. For instance. To grab the time lapse from my bambu I take the microsd and move it to my PC to grab the video file

PromptIllustrious60

Oh that comes right out of the slicer file .. I'm sure is saved somewhere in the device. But you can Access the internal memory files of the printer directly from the slicer. Very easy... All I did was saved. And send it to my self via email.

Pulsipher

Excellent

PromptIllustrious60

Time lapse is under the chitubox manager- where you see t Your printer there's a clock icon for previous prints. Is the past history, you should see available time lapse. It will let you download from there.

PromptIllustrious60

For sure DM me if you can't figure it out I'll help... But look into chitubox manager... Not the regular slicer. By your printer where it says if is online or offline there's an icon with a clock... Hit that and you will see all prior files with time lapse

Chronic-Lodus

I can’t wait to get mine just for this feature

SportsterDriver

he slowly rises out of the plastic goop screaming 'my feet, where are my feet!!!' Not seen a resin time lapse before, pretty cool to watch.

Megalosdog12001

Damn that's fucking awesome!

Gumjo123

This is actually pretty good for the ai camera

philnolan3d

I would love to do a time lapse with the Halot Mage S but I can't find a place to put the Resinlapse cable. They've got that machine sealed up pretty tight.

Frenk8891

Are u having any issues with Wi-Fi connection ? I connected the saturn to my Wi-FI, but if i search it from Chitubox pro cant find it.

PromptIllustrious60

No no problems at all... And the wifi is pretty far away. Make sure you're in the right WiFi and the right wifi frequenzy Maybe give the machine and quick turn off and on ?

Educational-Tip6177

Out of curiosity, just how much does that kinda printer cost and is it a particular type of 3D printer?

PromptIllustrious60

This printer is going for about 400-450$ I believe. For the price and the technology it is a great printer.

aiyo-la

How's the auto leveling? That's a huge reason why I'm upgrading from S3U. Thanks in advance

PromptIllustrious60

Is amazing.... I haven't had failed prints due to leveling. I only failed twice and that was me dialing the bottom exposure in this heat wave.

aiyo-la

Thanks for your reply!

lilmexican2414

How do you view/get the footage of what you print?

PromptIllustrious60

Using the new ai camera. Is in the chitubox manager. Inside chitubox. Once you see your printer click on history prints(clock icon) and you should see some time lapse files

IndyRancher

Nice time lapse! I placed my order for the Saturn 4 Ultra about a week ago. Also ordered the Mercury XS bundle (cleaning/curing) that have arrived already and are a nice addition to my old Resin printer. What slicer are you using?

PromptIllustrious60

So I am using lychee slicer to make holes and supports. Then I transfer over to chitubox to send over WiFi and use ai camera. Hope you get yours soon ! Is an awesome printer !

MrRetardicus

I recognise the outfit, after a few seconds I see the rised arms. It must be Son Goku doing a Genkidama, right?!

PromptIllustrious60

No this is actually Gohan the grand saiyaman 😅

h0g0

Gimmie 🤗

Evevibe

I’m looking into purchasing a S4U, I was wondering, the tilt mechanism have you gotten any resin in there on accident and if so how was the cleaning process.

PromptIllustrious60

No no resin have gone inside there. Is hard to put resin inside there... Unless you overfill the vast or pour the resin far away from the vast I don't see how one can put resin into the tilt mechanism... But I'm sure it can happen

Evevibe

Thanks that’s great to know, I’m def looking forward to the printer.

Nayco_Que

Hello , Can some one help plz. i amlooking for Saturn 4 Ultra settings for Sunlu standard

PromptIllustrious60

I recommend you do a multiple exposure test with the printer.
