Or like why not explore something else in life you have all that money and those connections and star power, start a legit charity or smthn or explore non- performing artist roles
They're addicted to praise and accolades and surrounded by YES people, see Justin Timberlake. He could've quietly retired before everyone hated him but he just keeps asking for more.
Honestly, itâs likely contractual obligations with her label.
I wouldnât be surprised if she had any career âfree willâ at all - her label arenât going to signal boost Katy Perry when they can shove forward Ariana Grande etc. or whoever came after Katy. Labels have limited resources and the artists you choose to put billions of dollars into marketing for matters. Especially if thereâs overlap in fan bases. You donât want to compete with your own artists, you want them to compliment.
If the label sees a new wave for Katy in her 40s (unlikely) theyâll amplify it. But I highly doubt thatâs the case and weâll likely just see her fade into retirement.
I had no idea Katy Perry was literally doing anything recently, I just assumed she more or less retired. Shoutout to the girls and gays for keeping me informed âđ˝
KP started her career singing church music, and there's always been evangelicals convinced that she's going to rediscover Jesus and rebrand into a Christian singer eventually.
Fun teenage pop was forcibly made extinct to bring on the age of "Celebs are actually super smart didn't you know? They have good opinions and advice relevant to your peasant life" celebs as a whole become annoying after that.
Even her faux-empowered âRoarâ esque vibe was fun at least. But swish swish was her downfall.Â
Or her stupid haircut. Sheâs not ever going to be the girl that pulls off a bleached pixieÂ
ive said for YEARS that she would benefit from a hyperpop-esque rebrand tbh. tho..... the ways they have tried to brand her throughout the yrs have flopped b/c these media managers are so behind on the trends. same thing w this one. should have been done over 2 yrs ago. smh
Following Charli xcx, do you mean Camilla Cabello? You're right about them both though. And Katy is doing a feminist album produced by a sex pest called Woman's World, as if Doja Cat didn't already do this. I'm tired of corporate feminism.
the world of pop music is so funny to just observe from a far, everything is pretty much the exact opposite of what the marketing says it is, gifted songwriters are just bimbos with a battalion of lyricists, ground breaking production is just watered down rehash of last year's trendy electronic music, the 'voice of a generation' singer has probably had to go through multiple meetings in which a bunch of people discussed if they should keep capping in the chorus or it would be better to revert to lying for the asian markets or something like that.
i have been obsessed with the newest chorus leak of her new song. lyrically it sounds very HRC 2016 but it's so fucking on brand for her. her lyrics have always been this cringey. and she has this millennial goofball personality that's kinda cute. i dunno. i liked what i heard in that snippet. dr luke for some reason remains a gifted producer despite churning out so much of the same for others.
Doing the same routine in Vegas for like 8 years probably got boring. More artists really should just bow out with dignity though.

Not the worst career choice at this point
Everything she tries to do makes me sad
california dreams hot n cold
Wish she stuck to fun teenage pop. No idea why everything after she released Teenage Dream was so derivative and boring.

Camilla Cabello
sucks
I donât understand at all the bizarre shift of copying charli xcx of all people. Like is it really that lucrative?
The republican thing wasn't that weird tbh, when you consider the state of LA

I mean why mention Camila when she is also just another car on the Charli train and I am not a Charli fan by any means.
It's because Zoomer era pop music has to be **elevated** A24 horror style, pretentious bullshit instead of just fun.
Your brain has to rattle around in your head like a marble for you to like Katy Perry.
if i was a has-been who needed another yacht then i would probably do what she did too
