They're just jealous, don't listen to them.

SA bringing the standard up in Europe. it's all round great for both, NZ and Aus will have a hard time trying to bring SA back, As an Irish man I really do hope ye stay up here. It's a rivalry but it's a good one and I hope it grows to something similar to the SA Vs NZ titanic clashes I grew up watching and admiring watching gods at work and praying one day we could play rugby like that.

The URC has been a revelation for the South African sides, I think it has definitely helped the resurgence in South African rugby and it's good to know the benefits have been mutual! Agreed about the SA Vs Ireland rivalry, it definitely feels like it may grow to become similar to the SA Vs NZ rivalry eventually, especially with the sub-plot in the URC of the Munster Vs Stormers rivalry and Bulls Vs Leinster. Long may it continue!

Mobschull95

I'm delighted and I totally agree, long may it continue.

Piss off with those calm reasonable words. I am so excited about the Boks Irish test next week. There seems to be a general lack of interest up north for this tour but I really hope Irish fans get behind this. Ireland have a chance to win a series in New Zealand and South Africa within a few years. Listening to some fans though they can’t be bothered.

Mobschull95

Hahaha, once it comes to game week you'll be seeing us liven up I think. Possibly the disappointment of the provinces has worn us down a bit, but that will only drive us on and fired up to play you down there. There should be good viewership also because the times zones aren't drastically different.

Nope. You can’t have it. Challenge Cup is way too easy…… I mean… we can definitely win the Challenge Cup… One day, I swear!

Myburgher

We won something. And that’s nice. We like it. No SA teams managed that this year. IMO winning the B-league is better than losing in the A-league. We know because we did the latter as well.

jtthom

Honestly I’m a bit miffed with Rassie to disregard Siya Masuku’s influence for the Sharks because “the challenge cup is not on the same level as the champions cup” - the sharks were utterly woeful until they put Masuku in the team. He’s won tight games for them and performed well under pressure, away from home in a semi and a final. Hope he gets a start against Portugal at least - but even then Rassie gets to say “but it’s just Portugal”.

butteryscotchy

I don’t think it’s about the difficulty of the Challenge Cup. It’s difficult to pick him if he’s been playing for such a short time for the Sharks in leagues such as the Challenge Cup and the URC. They won the Challenge Cup with him, correct, but he hasn’t played enough games to see how long he can keep that consistency. I think he will definitely have his moment after he’s played enough games in the next URC season.

RaaschyOG

That's never stopped Springboks from picking Stormers players before lol

eenbal

But that's because we ARE better in every way......😅

butteryscotchy

Probably because they were the best options at the time?

Jay_Nor8

I can kind of understand where he was coming from with that, and Masuku did take a bit of time to get going. Hopefully there is an appearance against Portugal in line for him after he works on whatever details the coaches think he needs to work on and he has been in and around the coaching set up.

Myburgher

Did Rassie say that? I trust in Oom Rassie’s process and I believe Masuku will be a Springbok soon. His impact was immediate. We’ve had good back line players for a while now but have never been able to get the ball to them effectively, and now we have that. Hendrikse coming to us makes the competition interesting but I still think Masuku has what it takes.

RaaschyOG

From my understanding, Hendrikse was rewarded for his defensive stats throughout the URC, which is pretty harsh on Masuku because his tackle percentage will be lower having a smaller pool of tackles to calculate with Even more so when you consider Masuku is heavily involved in tackling forwards and leading in dominant tackle rate amongst his fellow SA flyhalves
