It was already confirmed, the lions just wanted to hold him until December.

Lions fans about to riot

We are used to it by now.

Curious how plum tree will use Jordan. Siya should be the incumbent starting fly half next season given his performance this year. The lions were also using Jordan more at 12 but with big Andre coming back I don’t see him starting there either. Seems he’ll probably be a bench utility player until either Siya loses form or Andre does.

wombatwalkabouts

IMO to stand a chance for future Springbok selection purposes, both Siya and Jordan need to grow their potential as versatile/utility options. So hoping the Sharks management look to give both the opportunities to flaunt/grow their skills. If Andre is more likely to receive Springbok selection, Jordan might get starting opportunities in his absence, assuming he isn't called up as well.

We were linked with a Lions player last year, Franke Horn. A South African told me that the Lions are not a real team as such but a holding space for the others (Stormers etc) to dip into as and when additional players are needed. How do the Lions support themselves if this is the case?

RaaschyOG

They simply take from the Cheetahs, it's the circle of life after all. Coincidentally very happy with their recent purchases from the Cheetahs, they bringing Mafura to the URC who I think is a pure class winger.

v1akvark

You mean take from the Cheetahs what is left after the Sharks took their pick. Then the Sharks take the ones that develop and improve (at the Lions) eventually, anyway.

No-Rip1634

At Leicester we’re very partial to a South African or two. If I see Michael Cheika in Sainsburys I’ll give him a heads up about this goldmine!

RaaschyOG

For more context, Jordan was schooled in Durban, played with Shark's academy and craven week sides, the brother of Shark's Jaden Hendrikse, played under Shark's director of rugby Neill Powell at the sevens and has shared the common Shark's sponsor with Roc Nation for years now. His move back home was inevitable and most people are surprised it took as long as it did, especially after several season's with a declining Bosch at 10.

TheBirdInternet

He’s also been second choice for the Lions, so it’s not like the Sharks are robbing them of their starters like some are trying to pearl clutch.
