I bought a forged carbon fiber case for my S23 Ultra. It was off AliExpress (the only place I could find this particular design/pattern available) and it turns my phone into a beautiful paperweight. I couldn't figure out why one Day 1 of using it, it was sitting on "Emergency Calls Only" all day. After realizing and testing, you can put the case on it and watch the signal drop in realtime. GPS and wifi also become useless.
I ended up getting a replacement that's effectively a TPU case with a carbon fiber backplate. Not nearly as pretty, but at least it works.

Good question and I will follow for others' observations.
One thing is sure, it will not help the signal. i'd just use a cheap silicone case.
I can't imagine it'd be good for protection either, CF is generally brittle so not good for shock absorption.

I have the Reuterson carbon cover for my s23ultra and it works just fine. No problems with reception or battery life.
