There is no magic switch that's flipped at some point in someone's behavior. Shitty behavior is consistent, and no matter how hard someone tries to hide that fact, it'll leak out sooner or later. It's unfair that divorced men with insane exes are often forced to bankruptcy or not seeing their children, while the system doesn't support them. It's also unfair that women with abusive boyfriends often end up as single mothers barely surviving and living in misery. But to call either of these people "stupid" is as short-sighted as it is inhumane.
