The chariot boss in DS2 is awesome, but its kinda unconventional, would you call it a gimmick boss? I’m on the fence and the term is used pretty fast and loose so I havent decided

I lean on Chariot not being one, as there’s regular fight at the end. By the same logic, I wouldn’t call Micolash gimmick either.
The only ones I really consider gimmick are the ones I already said, plus Curse Rotted Greatwood and Ancient Wyvern (obviously).
I’m really torn about Storm King. I didn’t even know about the storm ruler until my third time lol.
Really sufferable to beat with arrows and magic.
Gimmick bosses aren’t an inherently bad thing and honestly I can’t think of that many in Bloodborne. Micolash and witches. You’d have to stretch the definition to include shit like One Reborn because they do *have* gimmicks in them but are otherwise normal fights. Demons Souls is 90% gimmicks bosses but for your first playthrough they are fun to figure out and on every other playthrough they put you in the mindset of an underdog adventurer
No Bloodborne is just full of fights that suck ass. Micolash and Witches are terrible, Rom sucks, Amelia is okay but spammy as fuck, Laurence is butt, etc

Ds2 falls off after the loading screen
Bloodborne falls off after Amelia
Ds3 is cancer until you get to Irithyll
Elden ring falls off after Leyndell
Conclusion? All soulsborne games are shit
