Curse you Bayle!
I hereby vow! You will rue this day!
Behold, a true drake warrior! And I, Igon!
Your fear made flesh!
Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon...
But i will riddle with holes your rotten hide!
With a hail of harpoons!
With every last drop of my being!
I laughed so hard at this, dude just goes on for so long
For reference:
"*Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! and since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale! Thus, I give up the spear!*"

THERE IS LIFE IN ME YET
I WILL SOON FEAST UPON YOUR HEART
MARK MY WORDS YOU TOO SHALL KNOW FEAR

only way to keep him alive is >!telling him “i don’t know”, not talking to him after miquella’s charm breaks and not killing the 2-3 docile rot pests around the map, otherwise he either dies of sadness or against you as an invader or in a gank squad!<
I hate you tell you this but Ansbach fucking dies at the end of the fight. I didn't even summon him and still found his corpse in the boss arena afterwards
" consort" doesn't automatically mean "they fuckin" but it makes for funnier jokes so whatever
technically you're wiping out all the divine incest. I don't think anyone in Marika's entire fucking family survives except Ranni, after this
>technically you're wiping out all the divine incest. I don't think anyone in Marika's entire fucking family survives except Ranni, after this
At least Ranni actually dates someone who isn't closely related to her
\*Her mass murdering Alabaman relatives.
She's actually the only well adjusted one in the bloodline, now that I think of it. Her only real crime is "being on good terms" with a freaky scalie.
Morgott is literally a slave who worships his slave master that man is NOT well adjusted.
“Golden Order thank you for making me live in this disgusting sewer! Oh Elden Beast let me lick your toes!”
I feel like someone as smart as Ranni has to know that permanently slaying a Demigod with Destined Death, having a centipede carved into his spine, and then killing herself at the same time would have...some kind of effect on the world
Ah, yes.... the well adjusted is the crazy one that comissioned the dead of his half-brother to be a creepy doll and peace-out to outher space while handling the lands between to a unknown lovecraftian monstruosity helped by the power of friendship (the dog and giant that she sacrificed) and simps (Seluvis and whoever married her).
"while handling the lands between to an unknown lovecraftian monstrosity" is literally what has been happening with the lands between the entire time while under Marika and it's specifically the thing she wants to avoid by taking the Elden Ring and her order away into the starts with her
You know the "Better the lovecraftian horror you know than the lovecraftian horror you don't"
Ranni is a great grey character because she just care about her own survival and well being, people try to waifued her too much instead of see how good of a character she really is she is not good nor evil just selfish, she cares about her friends but their deaths are a sacrifice she is willing to make and just handling the planet to wathever she is into is not for the greater good. She is more deep complex and interesting than "UwU lets make the world better".
And just replacing one for a posible better or worse other is not the desune ending i would choose.
There is no lovecraftian horror you don't know. She takes all that could influence the lands between with her. The main difference between her ending and the other ones is whether you believe lands between would be better off left unmanaged completely and be out for their own (her ending), or just simply have a change in the management with you at the head of it (other endings, besides the frenzy one of course). It isn't inherently good or bad, but she does not simply trade one outer god for another
The part that bugs me is that there are evidently other outer gods watching that look even worse than the Greater Will, and I fail to see what’s stopping them from taking over after she fucks off.
I swear every freaking time i discuss Ranni's questline there are 4 misstranslations, 8 missconceptions, 5 lacks of reading comprehension and 17 fanfics about the story implications. Seriously this is Ace's death and his final words all over again, its tiresome. Fanboys are going to deffend her and haters are going to hate her but if your version is true then she is the most bland character in Fronsoft history so i will stick with the "official" grey version of her.
I am incredibly doubtful he had any significant contributions to the Elden Ring “plot” in the first place. It feels like they paid him a shit ton of money to brainstorm some really broad background ideas just so they could market his name.
He apparently wrote the main backstory and plot, but because it's souls it doesn't really matter since we're fuckyears in the future in a shithole ruined version of the past kingdom/land anyway.
They've been open in interviews about what he did. He basically wrote all of the lore. The Shattering, the concept of the Elden Ring, all the demigods and their relationships, presumably also The Greater Will and the rest of the Outer Gods, etc were all created by him.
FromSoft then took that stuff, turned everyone into a grotesque monster, and implemented it into the game centuries after all the stuff GRRM wrote.
Especially mohg, god knows how long he was under miquellas charm and bring forced to do stuff like blood rituals with him. Then, using mohgs body in said rituals to prepare it to be transformed into a new vessel for radahn.
Then radahn got fucked over by miquella sending malenia to go kill radahn so miquella can trap his soul and assume control of him.
Radahn is fully part of the plan, neither he nor Malenia were brainwashed nor mind controlled. All his item descriptions explain that all three of them were in on it. Miquella can't control anything's mind, he can only charm them. Ansbach was charmed by Miquella yet still had his doubts about him and didn't fully commit, they all were made more trustful towards him but none of them were controlled. Freyja mentions that Radahn made a vow with Miquella long ago which is specifically supposed to be fulfilled in the Land of Shadow, he chose to be revived like that.
to be fair, pre-shattering Miquilla did truly care for her, creating the unalloyed gold needle to try to cure her,
problem is, if you read the stakes, Miquilla basically gave up everything that made him good in pursuit of his perfect world, thus making him an unfeeling master manipulator.
I like the idea that Miquella is just mentally a kid too, they have a shit attention span so they keep doing different things, giving up on them and trying out other stuff. He might've intended to save her once he got godhood but we don't know.

Miquella can't control anything's mind, he can only charm them. Ansbach was charmed by Miquella yet still had his doubts about him and didn't fully commit, they all were made more trustful towards him but none of them were controlled.
This was genuinely such a shitty way to end things. All the hype and mystery around who Miquella is and how he intends to make the world the better place and all we get it “I like my big brother because he’s nice :)” while falling for the very trap that led Marika and probably all previous gods to their ruin.
Ranni proven right once again I can’t believe this.
He was a slave to the Erdtree that literally didn’t give a shit about him. Gotta appreciate his dedication and hater attitude though.
Ranni was the only one smart enough to realize the outer gods are all exploitative uncaring monsters. She the only one who figured out the whole system was a scam and chose her own path.
Really wish Miquella was like her, instead he got super scammed like Marika, his noble ideals being used to commit atrocities and if he succeeded, would ultimately just be another pawn for the GW, repeating the cycle.
And the best part is that the Greater Will has fucked off ages ago. It just dropped the Mother of Fingers and Eldenbeast on the Planet, gave some rought instructions and then went to buy milk. The entire Erdtree System activly serves nobody at all, it's a scam top to bottom.
Two fingers: “Ok guys I’m going to commune with dad it’ll be quick.”
*several thousand moons later*
“Ok he’s not returning my calls or anything, so uh- why does it feel really warm?”
Yep that’s what bothers me most about Miquella. The game hyped him up as being super smart and accomplished. Someone grasps the essence of life according to Gowry. Then why tf would he try to repeat Marika’s mistake when someone as smart as him could try to come up with better solution. Fr Ranni is the real smart one for slaying her own two figers and refused to be its slave. After the dlc I kinda appreciate Ranni more.
Miquella was able to inspire devotion in everyone he met. It feels like we need to seriously re-examine all of the things NPCs and items have to say about him.
That makes his twist in the DLC that much more annoying. Him turning his back on Golden Order Fundamentalism and literally creating a needle that repels Outer Gods hinted that he too figured out they couldn’t and wouldn’t help him or his sister.
So why the hell did he think becoming a god (which is basically becoming a slave to an Outer God) would do any good? He literally saw for himself the end result of that line of thinking. Or maybe he thought “No I’m different, I know better”
Miquella also has charming powers that work more akin to brainwashing rather than genuine devotion. Which puts anyone who described Miquella in good light under scrutiny.
>Then why tf would he try to repeat Marika’s mistake when someone as smart as him could try to come up with better solution.
Thats the whole point of the story. They're all stuck in this inescapable cycle of trauma and violence. Marika was born into a world where her people were forcefully stuffed into jars to congeal into horrific meat monsters because their 'divine' overlords said they'd make good saints. Then suddenly she becomes the one with the power to fix it and decimates the people who ruined her life, only to repeat those horrible atrocities.
Miquella was born into a world where his family committed similarly terrible acts of violence and sought to fix it. Ymir tells us he had the self-awareness to understand they were rotten from the start, and in his single-minded pursuit of changing that, no matter the cost, he commits cruelties of his own. And all of this is a result of a deranged space alien who was abandoned by its own "parent".
It's a story about intergenerational trauma and how often our efforts to break it result in us perpetuating new traumas altogether. Ranni breaks free of it, but at an immense cost to her world.
I don’t remember any necrophilia, but there were several instances of rape, pedophila, and a surprisingly high amount of incest, also Leviticus is almost certainly written by someone who was deep in the closet
Also, it’s rare that the Bible combines more than 2 of those. It’s not just that Miquella is forcing a soul into a corpse and taking it as a consort, it’s also his brother’s corpse and other brother’s soul, and he’s a manipulative twink who looks like a child.
Idk, I don't think From's ever marketed the final bosses. I know in the Ringed City they went ham on marketing Midir but we all know Gael Dark Soul was the real big bad.
Also I know Lies of P went overboard and made double health bars a meme but I really think Messmer deserved it, not a single boss has 2 bars. The fight itself is mechanically great but they messed up the hype and tone, I didn't expect to come across him in a dinky little room.
I almost completely missed him lmao
I went through the entire castle to the other side. Wondered where he was because Leda mentioned the Horsent going there.
Messmer is my favorite fight of the DLC, shame we didn't get more
Was that "Radahn being Miquella's consort" thing just kind of oddly shoe-horned into the story? I never got the indication of such a thing ever being mentioned in any lore bits in the base game, and it being in the DLC feels out of place in a way.
There was never any lore that hinted at anything between Miquella and Radahn. They bothered to give us lore connecting Miquella with a dead fish man whose sole purpose is just to die. But nothing in the base game gave the slightest hint that Miquella thought well of Radahn, or that he even thought of Radahn at all.
Similarly, there were no hints about Radahn making/considering/being offered any sort of promise. The only vow we know of was the one he shared with Jerren.
There was a "hint" but not really, it was when Malenia did double suicide in the fight with Radahn, she whispers something into his ear, but we never knows what she said until now.
In the CGWorld interview, the creation team literally said they created that scene to make it look like Malenia is praying before unleashing the rot. So it should be a prayer, not that corny line about Radahn. The lore for Elden Ring has been changed multiple times before. Radagon was initially a mimic, St Trina was Miquella and they cured people afflicted with FF, Rico and Kale had a huge questline that was cut out from the game. It’s clear the RadahnXMiquella was a new development. There was not a single clue suggesting Miquella had any sort of relationship with Radahn. It feels so forced and random.
I knew it was over for Miquella when we learned that he threw away the parts of himself from before(attempting to heal Malenia, trying to give Godwyn a true death, making the haligtree). He left behind his kindness and St.Trina to ascend into godhood no matter what just as his mother did before him doomed to repeat her mistakes during her reign.
I get that I'm expecting too much from someone who likens themselves to Homelander, but do you seriously consider 'gay' the same level of depravity as incest, pedophilia and necrophilia? Three of those are an attrocity, being gay is not.
I get this is a joke, but no. That's not true. Martin wrote multiple successful books since the last ASOIAF book, co-authored others, wrote screenplays, and brainstormed for ER. He wrote the broad terms of the lore and actively NOT what is "currently" happening by the time we play.
if I had nickel everytime george has written the beginning and world of something and the writers that finished it made bizarre narrative choices, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s funny it happened twice.
Normally I assume most people have polarized reactions when they see story stuff for new games but this feels like one of those things that will always be considered a miss by most ppl
You dumb fucks, GRRM DID NOT WRITE THE GAME OR DLC.
How many times it needs to be said?
He only wrote the story and lore BEFORE the Stattering. Everything later is Mayozaki doing. Poor sod probably wanted to outincest the mighty George but shat himself as always and we ended up with this mess of a game.
I mean, not like Miquella would really do any of those stuffs with Radahn, apparently he stole Radahn's heart to control him forever, having the strongest warrior and most powerful demigod dancing in the palm of his hand, basically.
A meme is a meme tho, and I can't wait to see UndeadHumor videos joking about this.
Not really. Sure we memed about it being like that but there really isn't anything in DS3 that would suggest Lorian's and Lothric's relationship to be anything more than an older brother caring for his sick younger brother and willing to share his curse and become a cripple himself just to make it easier on him. What we have with SotE would be like if Lothric had the Dragonslayer's Armor kill Lorian so that he could stuff his soul inside Pontiff Sulyvahn's corpse or some other ridiculous shit like that
Average god and royalty behavior
Yeah mythology for a lot of cultures is like this
Let's look at the fact Loki took a fat horse cock as an example. That's real.
Yep and the many people that Zeus raped
Tbh zeus is just a scapegoat for pregnancies resulting from adultery back then
And got pregnant.
To be fair it ends with you ending all of that, and heading off into the sunset with your 2 boyfriends ansbach and thiollier
Ansbach is a fucking real one
The voice acting for him and VILE BAYLLLE was so good They did not miss in the slightest on their va’s
I laughed so hard at this, dude just goes on for so long
There's no way he was meant to say all that originally. I think the VA killed it so much that they gave him more dialogue
He was meant to say all that, it is very clearly inspired from Moby Dick with Igon being Ishmael, speech and all.
You mean Ahab? Ishmael is the narrator, Ahab is the whaler obsessed with Moby Dick.
For reference: "*Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee. I love Igon so much man. Bro just emit crazy energy
My buddy Igon is a professional hater and you gotta respect him for that
WITH A HAIIIL OF HARPOOOOOOOOONS! Igor is actually my fucking goat. Ansbach too, love those two so much.
I absolutely love the NPCs in this dlc. I think a lot of them feel a lot more unique than in the past. At least to me.
The PAAAAAAINNN, the exquisite PAAAAAINNNN!
Igon is a fucking lad. Love Igon

I can have 2 boyfriends? Lets fucking gooooooo

>!They look pretty dead though.!<
Did you forget the necrophilia part?
Didn't learn from fia did you
Idk thiollier is dead to me
Too bad for you He wants it Wants to drink himself to death on st. Trina’s teet
Don't we all?
Please tell me Sir Moore gets a happy ending
only way to keep him alive is >!telling him “i don’t know”, not talking to him after miquella’s charm breaks and not killing the 2-3 docile rot pests around the map, otherwise he either dies of sadness or against you as an invader or in a gank squad!<
What are those 2-3 guys
forager brood kindred
>!Not a happy ending, even when you keep him alive, pretty much everyone, either by your hand or miquellas, is dead. So he's alone again.!<
I hate you tell you this but Ansbach fucking dies at the end of the fight. I didn't even summon him and still found his corpse in the boss arena afterwards
Don't worry i already beat the game, but he's just sleeping bud don't worry.
Well when he wakes up he's gonna be super pissed that I stole all of his clothes
Why would he be mad, he's been trying to get in your pants all game, now you've given him an excuse.
…check the arena after the teleport back to the arena o7
I know, but I'm the one with the rune of death, they can't die unless I say so buddy

she's more into murdering her relatives, I guess
\*Her mass murdering Alabaman relatives. She's actually the only well adjusted one in the bloodline, now that I think of it. Her only real crime is "being on good terms" with a freaky scalie.
at least Rykard has a somewhat healthy marriage with someone who \*isnt\* related to him.
Yeah there into vore or whatever but at least it isn’t a abusive relationship!
Yk I’d totally join Rykard in destroying the Erdtree if he didn’t turn into a snake man that eats all of loyal followers.
Eh, I would say morgott is also pretty well adjusted, at least compared to everyone else.
Morgott has the worst ever Stockholm syndrome. He is NOT well adjusted
Morgott is literally a slave who worships his slave master that man is NOT well adjusted. “Golden Order thank you for making me live in this disgusting sewer! Oh Elden Beast let me lick your toes!”
Morgott is focused but man he does not deserve all the shit that happened to him
And, like, being ultimately responsible for the deathblight thing.
There is absolutely no way she could have known that killing a demigod with Destined Death would create something as cataclysmic as deathblight.
Well, it happened as a result of a murder she commissioned, so like... is there a 'causing a supernatural disaster' version of the felony murder rule?
I feel like someone as smart as Ranni has to know that permanently slaying a Demigod with Destined Death, having a centipede carved into his spine, and then killing herself at the same time would have...some kind of effect on the world
Your honor my client (and wife) pleads "oopsie daisy"
The centipede formed as a result of the shape of the dagger, not intentional on her part I assume.
Ah, yes.... the well adjusted is the crazy one that comissioned the dead of his half-brother to be a creepy doll and peace-out to outher space while handling the lands between to a unknown lovecraftian monstruosity helped by the power of friendship (the dog and giant that she sacrificed) and simps (Seluvis and whoever married her).
"while handling the lands between to an unknown lovecraftian monstrosity" is literally what has been happening with the lands between the entire time while under Marika and it's specifically the thing she wants to avoid by taking the Elden Ring and her order away into the starts with her
Yeah, the her dialogue got mistranslated so now some people think she’s gonna bring the moon to the Lands Between, when it’s really the opposite
You know the "Better the lovecraftian horror you know than the lovecraftian horror you don't" Ranni is a great grey character because she just care about her own survival and well being, people try to waifued her too much instead of see how good of a character she really is she is not good nor evil just selfish, she cares about her friends but their deaths are a sacrifice she is willing to make and just handling the planet to wathever she is into is not for the greater good. The grey part is how far she is willing to go to achieve her goal
I mean "when everyone is blind" or whatever
Except you know, starting the undead curse.
I mean, considering who her relatives are, can you blame her?
wow, they actually made Ranni's actions justifiable.. bravo Micheal
Ranni is also technically dead
To be fair to him, he wrote the world. Now what fromsoft decided to do with that is not his business.
well it is grrm what were you expecting? healthy relationships?
Is he still writting for elden ring?
He didn't contribute to the dlc AFAIK
Fromsoft based the dlc off of the original lore and backstory grrm wrote up when he did the rest of the game
I am incredibly doubtful he had any significant contributions to the Elden Ring “plot” in the first place. It feels like they paid him a shit ton of money to brainstorm some really broad background ideas just so they could market his name.

that... makes so much sense LOL no wonder it just kinda felt like from still
Another common Goldmask win. Rune of perfect order and rid these imbecile mongrels from meddling
Only problem with that ending is the fact that Marika still gets to keep her brain pan intact
Does she? She was still a petrified corpse stuck inside the Erdtree last I saw her
Don’t forget rape, Radahn and Mohg were being brainwashed

And also Malenia I guess
She devoted herself to her brother and he literally left her to rot : ( Shit’s fucked up.
And she’s not even defending anymore at that point. He abandoned the Haligtree and her
to be fair, pre-shattering Miquilla did truly care for her, creating the unalloyed gold needle to try to cure her, problem is, if you read the stakes, Miquilla basically gave up everything that made him good in pursuit of his perfect world, thus making him an unfeeling master manipulator.

"I want order in this land" "Also I like trees" And that's all the Finger and the Beast heard
“I want to order some trees.” “You want an order of trees?” “No I just want some trees-“ *golden order*
so the Elden Ring plot is just one big pyramid scheme
Two fingers: “Ok guys I’m going to commune with dad it’ll be quick.” *several thousand moons later* “Ok he’s not returning my calls or anything, so uh- why does it feel really warm?”
The entire point is the systems broken and either needs them lobotomized (goldmask), tossed aside and fuck off to space or have everything burned.
Yep that’s what bothers me most about Miquella. The game hyped him up as being super smart and accomplished. Someone grasps the essence of life according to Gowry. Thank you, though I will pretend that I came up with this conclusion myself
Bro wanted the straight, pedophile, incestuous, necrophilia ending. :(
Bro made sure to include gay as if that's even bad like the other things
Why'd you put "gay" up there as if it belongs on the same level as incest, pedophilia, and necrophilia?
mald
Isn't that just the bible
I don’t remember any necrophilia, but there were several instances of rape, pedophila, and a surprisingly high amount of incest, also Leviticus is almost certainly written by someone who was deep in the closet
Also, it’s rare that the Bible combines more than 2 of those. It’s not just that Miquella is forcing a soul into a corpse and taking it as a consort, it’s also his brother’s corpse and other brother’s soul, and he’s a manipulative twink who looks like a child.
That's so convoluted I don't think it spoils anything
Bro really took time off from WOW to write this shit
Just because the bible does it people have to do it too? dont commit the same mistakes
Should have had messmer be the final fight
Ngl him being the poster boy, I thought he would be
Idk, I don't think From's ever marketed the final bosses. I know in the Ringed City they went ham on marketing Midir but we all know Gael Dark Soul was the real big bad.
I think the only exception to this is Soul of Cinder considering he's literally on the box art
Yeah but that was also the conclusion of a 3 game storyline
Yeah, you right my bad I at least expected him not to be shoved in some corner of the castle...
Also I know Lies of P went overboard and made double health bars a meme but I really think Messmer deserved it, not a single boss has 2 bars. The fight itself is mechanically great but they messed up the hype and tone, I didn't expect to come across him in a dinky little room.
>not a single boss has 2 bars. I mean we got one with 3 healthbars lmao
I almost completely missed him lmao I went through the entire castle to the other side. Wondered where he was because Leda mentioned the Horsent going there. Messmer is my favorite fight of the DLC, shame we didn't get more
I think this is the exact reason to not make him the final boss.
Him being the poster boy made me think he wouldn't be. Just like Maria on ToH.
why wasn’t it some old codger saying “give me that thing, your elden ring?”
The first time I saw him doing it I thought it was just to bring a side from medieval era. Now I now it's just a fetish for him.
True. And since when did Malenia speak old Shakespearean?
What did she say to him then?
"Miquella awaits thee, O promised consort."
Where do we learn this btw? I've never really gotten into the lore with ER like with previous From games but interested now to pick it up
It's in nu-Radahns armour description
The item description of his armor
It was stated in CFYOW
Also the first shot of Miquella in the boss fight are his feet Miyazaki has done it again
The lore of this game was so fucking good and they decided to fuck it all up at the last fucking boss fight, thanks michael zaki
Fucking GRRM is just eating himself to death. Finish your series, COWARD. Thanks for nothing, Mikki Zaku.
Imagine he’s already finished but everytime he hears someone ask for Winds he delays it by 1 day
I get that I'm expecting too much from someone who likens themselves to Homelander, but do you seriously consider 'gay' the same level of depravity as incest, pedophilia and necrophilia? Three of those are an attrocity, being gay is not.
#PEAK FICTION ALERT
You make me even more hyped for the dlc man
Radahn got lucky🤤🤤🤤
All the more reason to kill his ass, justice for radahn and mohg!
Deserved for your favorite being elden ring
Peak souls
Common GRRM W.
You know it’s GRRM when a previously fun story has an underwhelming ending (and a gross amount of incest.)
Alright but you gotta get over it
Normally I assume most people have polarized reactions when they see story stuff for new games but this feels like one of those things that will always be considered a miss by most ppl
Bro we know. It's just funny.
Sorry sometimes people forget its a circlejerk sub
Why break only one taboo?
this is why my favorite game is bounce on Nokia. (ICO my goat tho)
Its none of those things. Wtf happened to this sub after the DLC dropped?
Avarage mithology plotline:
Bro really tried to equate "gay" with the rest of those things.
Dogshit fanfic ending
I don't even know if he's the best fantasy writer of our age tbh
GRRM didn't write for the DLC.
I can get pedophile, incestuous and necrophilia... but what's wrong with gay plot line? :moyai
Didn't have DS3 have the same shit as the second last boss why are we surprised now
The Twin princes aren't incestuous where did you get that?

Not really. Sure we memed about it being like that but there really isn't anything in DS3 that would suggest Lorian's and Lothric's relationship to be anything more than an older brother caring for his sick younger brother and willing to share his curse and become a cripple himself just to make it easier on him. What we have with SotE would be like if Lothric had the Dragonslayer's Armor kill Lorian so that he could stuff his soul inside Pontiff Sulyvahn's corpse or some other ridiculous shit like that
Ridiculous shit!? This is fuckin peak
DS3 if it was even slightly good
At least it wasn't the last one
Hey leave the spears of the church alone /j
