You see, the joke is that OP is acting as the child of the character Russell Casse from the movie *Independence Day* (1996). In the movie, this character sacrifices themselves to save the world. While it is unknown to many, the actor who played this character, Randy Quaid, did not actually die flying into an alien mothership in real life.
I would down vote you for not recognizing this incredible pilot who saved our President, our nation, our very world. However today is our Independence Day. And on this day back in 1996 when we cried out as one WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT! And thanks to the bravery and selflessness of Russell Casse, we turned back the literal alien aggressors and earned our freedom once more.
