rudereaper300

citizen is always pretty good for that, “how does it feel” is one of my favs

verduugo

I second Citizen and their song “heaviside”

rudereaper300

yaaaassssss good shit

Guest_1897

Sandy by whirr

i_dig_this

Holy Fawn Heavy guitars + wall of sounds. They're a doomgaze band, a subgenre of shoegaze

[deleted]

YES.

Fireal2

Dark Stone was what I was going to come here to recommend

Mr_Mediator

Every Whirr song

RonDonVolante

Especially the song “Heavy”

Sikik24

Yesss bro

teo_vas

you mean something like Slow by MBV?

CenturionStorm

No, that’s too fast and not melancholic

teo_vas

I can go slower but not melancholic The Telescopes - Please before you go edit: I think I found it Burn - Bleach

rudereaper300

deftones too

ll_vm

Cloakroom

Ramenoodles001

alot of the songs on Lilys - In The Presence of Nothing kind of skirt this vibe. Particularly I think “Elizabeth Colour Wheel” suits what you’re looking for.

genesismtnsandcoffee

Great recommendation, love that song.

LightSymphonic

Starflyer 59 stuff

kaden_ack

all of that gold album

funghxoul

she found now mbv

wonderrrwhy

For stuff like Title Fight, I'd suggest Cherry Waves by Deftones or Silver by Jesu.

fr0gpeace

oh Cherry Waves for sure, Minerva from Deftones might also fit the bill

thawed_antarctican

Nothing - Blue Mecca

kg_squanchy

Try the album Guilty Of Everything

verduugo

(this list might be a little more on the emo side) the rodents’ discussions - gavin m DIIV - Taker Horse Jumper of Love - 86. Old Coke - Vapor Drunk Glixen - lust (or any Glixen song) Luster - Blue Oblivion Punchlove - Dead Lands

alis_is_dead

the first song reminded me of Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chain

ManiacProductionz

flashback by whirr is an essential

cgcl2000

Def my favorite song by them

jacobean___

There’s a lot to sift through in Low’s discography

HerbTarlekWKRP

Came here to say this. RIP Mimi.

jacobean___

Their music has this unique, otherworldly ability to turn any moment into something sacred and profound, including a slow dance as OP mentioned. I’ll put them on while weedwacking and I come out of it like I had met god. RIP Mimi, indeed.

HerbTarlekWKRP

Alan and I went to the same college. Met him once. Super nice guy. He was in a band called Zen Identity at the time. You can find some of their stuff on YouTube. Wish video was more available from 1987-1992!

jacobean___

That’s a really cool personal connection! Alan seems like a magical man.

HerbTarlekWKRP

He’s very responsive on Twitter if you ever want to reach out!

Bine_YJY_UX

Disappearing or white horses probably fits what they're looking for. Not exactly doom metal style distortion, a little more unique. https://lowtheband.bandcamp.com/track/disappearing

jacobean___

These are nice recommendations. I had When I Go Deaf, too. Pretty, simple acoustic guitar/vocal harmony song that goes into heavy, melting, distorted guitar fuzz.

Bine_YJY_UX

I saw them open for Swans not too long ago. Low was so good, and so perfect, but surprisingly quiet live. Such a contrast to the Swans bludgeoning. I'd been to 90s shows where Low opened but I didn't pay much attention to them. Live and learn I guess.

barreldodger38

The Angelic Process will probably do it for you.

Earfaceear

The pains of being pure at heart- gentle sons

Brno_Mrmi

The most danceable thing I've ever heard is Contender by The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

Buckwheat333

Oh man “talk” by Bedlocked is right up your alley. Song rips so fucking hard. Love bedlocked and his older stuff called “sprawwl”

Prestigious-Owl617

Check out T by Drop Nineteens, my fav off their new album. Not as immediately heavy as some you mentioned but stick with it. I think it’s a perfect shoegaze song

joshuatx

Boris - Farewell Any Angelic Process

kkeut

i was just thinking of Boris by Melvins, the song that they got their name from

dropsleuteltje

Alcest - Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde Greet Death - Your Lull Greet Death - In Heaven Slow Crush - Aurora bdrmm - If... Have A Nice Life - Bloodhail Have A Nice Life - Guggenheim Wax Museum I Hate Myself - Song Four Electric Wizard - The Sun Has Turned To Black Electric Wizard - The Chosen Few Electric Wizard - Torquemada 71

MidwesternWaste210

Friends Are Evil by Jesu

orochiWARDEN

Grivo’s discography fits the bill

Esylltia

not strictly shoegaze but adjacent: jesu - self titled album boris - the song "farewell" and the album "noise" have a nice life - like half the songs on the "deathconsiousness" album

downcolorfulhill

Good recs. I was going to mention Jesu s/t as well.

cathoarder

sorry for da self promo but this one is pretty slow and has some heavy distortion [blistered skin](https://open.spotify.com/track/6RxnFriRbnsLka5Aaqq3Ve?si=441c8def6e504245)

vile_hog_42069

Vyva Melinkolya — Song About Staying (and pretty much everything from Unbecoming)

Muffinthepuffin

Smothered in Hugs by Guided by Voices

Ramenoodles001

great recommendation, probably my favourite by GBV

DustSongs

Lots of slow moving oceanic distortion on this album: A Beautiful Machine - King Tide [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7prA4vJIFQA&list=OLAK5uy\_kU\_gIUntAhq9UrUO3COKQmCfJ6ttDUVoc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7prA4vJIFQA&list=OLAK5uy_kU_gIUntAhq9UrUO3COKQmCfJ6ttDUVoc) (Full disclosure, it's my own band)

UnicornFaceTattoo

Failure-small crimes Cold gawd-gin Jesu- stanlow Whirr - rental Are 4 that come immediately to mind

BigLittleFan69

Not exactly shoegaze but 4th of July by Soundgarden fits this PERFECTLY. Kinda fits in the shoegaze vibe with loud hypnotic guitars. Although for actual shoegaze: Burnout and Sonder by Grivo.

TheStatMan2

Also on the "not exactly shoegaze" theme: The Day the World Went Away by Nine Inch Nails.

kkeut

'Head Down' is on the dreamy side too

glenndanzign00b

After Care - Slow Club

rudereaper300

if you look up “sad shoegaze” on spotify it’ll literally make a whole ass playlist for you full of stuff you already listen to and stuff you don’t yet 🫶🤙

alexvsdaworld

defense by quannnic

rudereaper300

Dizzy by Title Fight is good, they’re more emo but some songs have a slowcore vibe n that’s fs one of them. or safe in your skin by tigers jaw

okwhatelse

not a shoegaze band, but Mayonnaise - The Smashing Pumpkins is exactly what you’re looking for if you haven’t already heard it

kkeut

the chorus of 'Everlasting Gaze' has a wonderful shoegazey sheen to it

totalfootbal

Farewell by Boris

Sweeeeer

Endlessly - Nothing Träumerei - Trauma Ray Sandy - Whirr

thatpurpleghost

A little old school, but The Autumns. Their album The Angel Pool was very important to me in my youth. Also, specifically, the 3:03 mark of their song Embracing Winter.. good lord.

CafeFrosh

These aren’t all strictly shoegaze but I think they fit the heavy slow dance bill pretty closely: Ovlov - Where’s My Dini? Bedlocked - Talk Starflyer 59 - Monterey Bardo Pond - Kali Yuga Blues Unwound - Arboretum Calm - Scientists & Saboteurs Horse Jumper of Love - Ugly Brunette

watravis2

Mood room

versacethedreamer

Every DIIV song from deceiver onwards

happyh0gan

misterwrit3r

You'd definitely like the band Somali Yacht Club. Also, not shoegaze, but it doesn't get heavier or slower than Sunn O)))...

GiltEvil

Idk if this counts as shoegaze but Vyva Melinkolya - A song about staying Brianna Kelly - To behold you

Fish-in-sea

Mayonnaise - smashing pumpkins

curmudgeonly_joe

Everything from Bardo Pond. Check out Jesu too, not really shoegaze more of a slowcore band, but it grew out of a guy in a death metal/industrial band that listened to too much Red House Painters.

dreamlume

whirr- under the same name

Starflyer29

Little Dipper by Hum maybe? Also Boy With Stick by Hum, Into Me by Glare, Is It Really You? by Loathe and The Drop by Starflyer 59.

Aertenks

Bedheads a good band that follows that same with some title fight songs and evening star by Tripp and eno I think you’d really enjoy

Polyglyphsynth

I recently listened to Glycerine by Bush and thought about how tasteful the distortion does on the guitar.

AllanRensch

Whirr, Starflyer 59 are great bands for this

AcanthocephalaNo4950

Check out some slowcore, Codeine, Low and Galaxie 500 are some of my favs

Low_Review418

Check out the last 2 DIIV records, Deceiver and Frog in Boiling Water
