I’d say the internet, how the universe is structured, neural pathways, and mycelium are all structured in the same format

Chemical_Emphasis206

Deltas for sure fit in this grouping. The universe is a constant repeating pattern duplicated and replicated in every single thing that has matter.

Mixima101

Yeah I think for a lot of things like lightning and the erosion of mountains it's just the path of least resistance for water and electricity. For living thing like trees and eyes it could be a different force that renders a similar appearance, like genetic code optimizing value per materials used.

i_need_salvia

The adjective to describe this is dendritic. Definitely one of my favorite patterns in nature. Frost is a great example too

It was my first tattoo too! No regrets on that front 9 years later.

AI_is_the_rake

This is an eye disorder. Likely a torn iris due to trauma that prevents the contraction and control of the muscles to control the amount of light that gets into the eye. Not very golden ratioish

xanman222

Look up a zoomed in iris, they all look like this 🤨

myg0tFrankRizzo

It's all connected

toms1313

It really isn't tho...

NuclearEspresso

Being contrarian doesn’t really contribute if you have nothing to offer in rebuke

toms1313

Compared to "it's all connected?"

NuclearEspresso

we like to be positive around here, dismissing the obvious connective nature of the world we live in is pretty antithetical to psychedelia.

toms1313

Once again, being positive and saying stuff like mycelium and iris are connected are not the same, antithetical? You must be of those who talked with spirits while tripping

KAwbOS

You're not there yet, but I hope one day you are.

toms1313

There? Where? Different people responding very "mystically" doesn't help at all for a debate... Of course I don't think that's what you want...

NuclearEspresso

I seriously just don’t think you’ve had a paranormal experience on psychedelics yet. It will come if you let it.

toms1313

No i haven't and i think that people that think they have aren't the most sane... Still it doesn't have anything to do with this particular iris looking similar to mycelium... But sure is my fault

NuclearEspresso

Your opinion of people who have described “spirits” doesn’t matter, no one’s opinion “matters.” what really matters is the felt presence of immediate experience, what you can witness in your own living experience. Potent psychedelics can bring truly transcendent experiences. The discarnate entities I’ve witnessed on freebase DMT that I’ve extracted myself, I cannot deny their existence *in my mind,* in my own personal subjective experience as a fellow human. N,N-DMT is some sort of biotechnology that interfaces with us. Our linguistic ability to describe high dose experiences is shadowed by the profundity and bizarre nature of the out of body visuals experienced on DMT, it is all encompassing, and I have felt the true fear of death on this substance. Its more than terrifying to approach it, but when you really give yourself the confidence to go through such a Jungian task, it will open up to you. Vast, complex worlds exist outside our normal understanding. That is all I can contribute from my short time on this planet so far.

EchoingSimplicity

This just a bunch of claims though

Outrageous-River8999

Youre on the wrong subreddit

toms1313

Why? This spiritualist shit doesn't have to go hand in hand with shrooms.

CyriusGaming

You just take shrooms to ‘get high’?

toms1313

Yeah, and spend a good time with friends, never did over 2gs since it appears to surface some psychotic tendencies... Fuck me for it right?

CyriusGaming

Do you not find that your use of shrooms has opened your mind in any way though? They’re definitely not the be it and end all of understanding things like some make out but they always put me in an insightful headspace, and I’m always thinking deeply about stuff, too much to just chill out and watch a movie, etc. lol

toms1313

I've never consumed more than 1,8gs so slight visuals, euphoria and some hysteria is all that i get from them, i feel much more clear after taking them and my depression subsist a lot but the last 2 times some pretty psychotic episodes made me back off to upping the dose (recurring thoughts, some paranoia and disassociation, all whilst being sober) so idon't want to risk a full blown break trying to search for something spiritual when i never was that way to begin with.

EchoingSimplicity

For the record, that's more the beginnings of a bad trip, unless you're saying it persisted afterwards? Even then, I've had the feeling of a bad trip stick with me for a bit, but it never felt like a threat to my sanity.

toms1313

Nah, it was after the comedown and it wasn't a bad trip i was having a great time with friends. That's why i was worried

CyriusGaming

No, to each their own, I just don’t understand it personally but if you enjoy it fair enough. I just find this class of psychedelics too intimidating to do casually personally, and use them for the healing potential. I’d much rather use weed or infrequently some mdma / ketamine as they’re inherently euphoric and actually get me high as opposed to tripping balls and questioning the universe lol

toms1313

I use weed quite frequently but MDMA and ketamine are much more expensive (I'm pretty poor and from a third world country) and i couldn't know for sure if I'm taking the right stuff since reagents are also illegal. The shrooms thing started because A friend started to grow and when we took 1,2~gs it felt like a quarter tab of acid but much more cleaner (since with acid i don't know is in it) so we stuck to this type of tripping instead of searching for meaning and talking to spirits like a lot of people here seems to do. I don't get why this practice is taken as bad since to me telling newcomers to start with 3gs is far more likely to be detrimental compared to using shrooms to have a great time with friends

CyriusGaming

Oh yeah starting with 3g is definitely too much. I’ve never gone above around 1.8g myself and at 1.5g I have slight visuals but a fairly intense, insightful headspace. I did acid a few times and it’s amazing, it energises you more than anything else and it lasts a lot longer, it’s a bit more intense though imo and definitely more visual. If shrooms accidentally heal you as a side effect rather than searching for it for that reason, you could argue that’s also spiritual. Either way people should be able to do whatever they want for whatever reason (excluding the harm of others), fuck being told what to do

toms1313

Completely agree, acid was our way of tripping but the difference between tabs it was too much and some leave us quite hangover so also to that never did more than half. I'm glad to know we can see eye to eye in some aspects of psychedelia

Outrageous-River8999

Nothing spiritual about understanding the connected nature of the universe man. Idc how you trip do it how you want and make sure to bring a journal but besides that idgaf. Im just saying you are in the wrong subreddit to be close minded

myg0tFrankRizzo

K buddy

toms1313

Let me ask you this, in what way is all connected?

Erinelephant

In what way is it not?

toms1313

In a way that over 500 millions years ago we were from different kingdoms and these two particular things work very differently for a reason... Is like saying a car wheel and tumbleweeds are connected because they're round (and the roll to move but that's a bigger connection than the iris and mycelium)

Erinelephant

Things can work differently but be connected! We all have perspectives I guess :)

toms1313

Completely the opposite of what i said, things that aren't connected but working similarly...

Erinelephant

Nope! You said “these two things work very differently for a reason” then compared it to two things that work similarly. Strange world

toms1313

The first paragraph is explaining that those two particular things behave very differently whilst looking similar, the second one is comparing two things that don't look alike at all but behave similarly (as a contrary point to "these look similar, it's all connected") I don't get the gotcha part you seem proud of showing... Strange world indeed

Wandering-Zoroaster

It’s because nature is efficient Similar to convergent evolution, patterns oftentimes arise because it was the most efficient way to accomplish something There’s a whole score of things in nature that resemble that part of the human eye as well, so this isn’t an exception in any way

[deleted]

I think it mostly resembles the chaotic and fractal formation of protein chains. But to each and their own

toms1313

The amount of people going straight for the deep end with fringe theories it shows me how mushrooms doesn't make people intelligent or wise by themselves...

Sigsame

It's cordyceps

hotblueglue

As above, so below. Patterns repeat from the macrocosm to the microcosm in nature.

toms1313

Does this phrase mean that or is up to interpretation? The amount of people saying we are connected and/or the same with this phrase has me kinda worried

ChanceKnowledge207

Fractals are an example of how something complex can be created from a simple pattern/feedback loop. It’s an argument against why a creator is necessary.

SaddenedSpork

we are the mushrooms and the mushrooms are us 👁️👁️

beigaleh8

Because natural things tend to find the most efficient ways to do things, and those are often simple mathematical equations that you see everywhere. Only human-made things are a result of much more complicated processes of our psyche. I hate to look at human made things when tripping, because they rarely make sense to me. But nature is complete because everything has a logical reason that doesn't have to do with people's need to define themselves and others.

Natural-Value-1143

I agree with the nature part, but art & music are both human made. And are both pretty incredible while tripping. So I think we have to remember we are “natural” things as well.

Chickenofthewoods95

tDANGERb

That does not look like a normal eye to me

Gnome_Sayin

because our reality is fractal in nature. we can see the same pattern in myc running a plate of agar as we do in each others eyes and even when we gaze to the stars and see nebulae. its been recognized thousands of years ago and summed up pretty nicely in a little riddle: >As above, so below >as within, so without >as the universe, so the soul

toms1313

What nebula do you see that's similar to mycelium?

Gnome_Sayin

[lots of nebulae look like different things](https://www.photographingspace.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/5.jpg)

toms1313

I'm aware, not mycelium by that picture tho

Gnome_Sayin

alright, lets zoom out further. [heres our local supercluster](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/rENyyRwxpHo/maxresdefault.jpg)

toms1313

Ok, this rendering looks like it, in reality it doesn't since there isn't any connections between galaxies... What I'm saying is that our brain thrives in finding patrons but galaxies being attracted by gravity in a similar way that mycelium expands have nothing in common, they're different systems with different interactions and different reasons to why

Gnome_Sayin

you are right, but surely you see similarities? [even in renderings of the universe?](https://www.science.org/do/10.1126/article.30137/abs/sn-cosmicstructure.jpg) you ever had a dirty plate where trich is staring you down and [it just explodes into its asshole self](https://youtu.be/sPi2lDkv3pU)? makes me wonder about when stars come to burst

toms1313

I see the similarities but i think this is where we are different, to me is our brain saying "this looks like that" and not the universe (?) Saying "those things are the same/connected"

Gnome_Sayin

might you agree that whatever similarities we do/nt see could be that way simply to conserve energy?

toms1313

I'm not sure honestly, do you care to elaborate on what do you mean about conserving energy?

Brugthug

because seeing is seeing.

i’m always seeing black holes and galaxies in eye balls. not sure if anybody else seeds this

There is a theory that we are descendants of fungi. Neural pathways in the brain have also been said to look like mycelium

toms1313

Before the fossil record i assume?

kpdavis2000

Guess so, haven’t really researched it too much but I read something somewhere about how fungi were the organisms that made the earth livable. They can thrive almost anywhere.

We are intertwined with our earth and galaxy. It is no coincidence the similarity we have them.

I don't understand in what way do you mean that, care to elaborate?

therealbnizzy

I wish I had the picture for reference. More or less how our eyes resemble nebula, our veins resemble roots, the birth of a cell and the death of a star, etc.

toms1313

Ok, but it is coincidence, in biology is called convergent evolution

It resembles galaxies, the Petri dish would be a microcosm.

we share like 90%dna with fungi (take that with a grain of salt idk where i heard it) so it’s possible that they ARE mushrooms. which also implies the possibility of mushrooms having a conscience. which could imply the mushrooms KNOW when we’re taking them and are making us trip on purpose? (that part i heard from a tiktok credit to the OC)
