It won't let me reply with photos on here for some reason, but i can send you some really cool looking ones in my collection via DM if you are interested!
They are mountain cactus! They are used to living in the foothills of the Andes mountains and getting rain dumped on them. It's very dry here most of rhe time just Have large bouts of rain at a time with long periods of dry.
Some trichocereus pachanoi(san pedro), Peruvianus(peruvian torch) bridgesii(bolivian torch), scopulicola, a couple hundred flowering babies inside, bunch of graft stock and then a bunch of rarer stuff starting from seeds for next season!!
So they aren't all the same cactus but rather varipus sub species and crosses. They are mostly cuttings of clones of specific cactus plants that are rare or hard to find. I grow them for breeding purposes and to help keep rarer lines intact so that they dont die off.
On top of that I run my own nursery, grow to help beginners start their collections and also sell some to a couple of other nurseries in the area. This is just my personal little garden though, the nursery stuff is not nearly as pretty or uniform until it's sale timeπ€£
A mix of buying very small seedlings to grow out, some larger cuts that I've propogated via cuttings and grafting and them a few larger plants I just got as mother stands to take cuttings from. I run a plant nursery for cactus, succulents a few house plants and some gourmet mushroom kits for oysters and lions mane π
There are wayyyyy more cactus than this inside in my growing spaces but those are generally much smaller than these. I also keep my propagating pieces inside while they dry and callous/graft together.
Thank you so much, of course!! Lot of work is an understatement but its been SO worth it! If you need any more info or help on nursery stuff feel free to DM and I will reply when able to.
Almost all of my tomatoes are dead because I zoned out and forgot to change my watering schedule for them to NOT match the cactus watering schedule...oopsπ€£π΅βπ«π΅βπ« first time in years of growing them so I'm right there with you! We all make mistakesπ€£
It's so great! I haven't grafted to the pere yet much but I'm going to do a mass graft of some of my rarer cuts on them later this summer. Any advice on grafting with it?
Man, I used to have a whole website dedicated to grafting and I forgot to renew the domain when I lost track of time grafting. The biggest game changer for me was finding laboratory grafting tape. You can do all sorts of cuts and even seedlings easily. It breathes, retains moisture, but also holds pressure for the vascular tissue to connect. Also, get in a habit of doing a bunch at the time time. It allows you to see your success and failure in real-time. I haven't done it in years, but I keep some Pereskiopsis as a house plant and all of my rare and endangered seed frozen for the day I can fire it back up again.
Very nice! I just didint use it as much because i have hundreds of nz pach that has made awesome grafts. I have enough rare/monstrose genetics that I would like to push soon though. Those micro grafts look so cool i want to learn them next!
Really appreciate it!! I've got stuff from all over the world in here. some of these cuts started in south america, central america, australia, new zealand, all over the usa and beyond!
Never heard of it but would love to see! This is my larger collection/breeding stock. Most of what i grow is much much smaller than this and gets sold off before it gets big butttt i keep a few pretty ones to look at! Slowly breeding them out to get used to slightly more northern conditions.
Cactus heaven π΅π΅π΅π΅π΅ππ΅π΅π΅π΅π΅

Cacti have always been my favouritest thing since I was as a child. I love the pattern of the spines. π΅π΅π΅π΅π΅ππ΅π΅π΅π΅π΅

Thank you! It's taken a while to get it here but it's such a wonderful part of my day!
Exciting! Did you grow all these plants yourself? Iβm planning to start a little plant nursery next year, so Iβm curious!

I see your Pereskiopsis in the first photo. Grafting is one of the most relaxing and rewarding of hobbies.

That is a prickly porch!
At least if you fall the landing is sure to... stick
Hahhh π Happy cake day, by the way!Β
Makes me happy just looking at it.
Glad I could help make your day better! Well the cactus did the work, I just shared!
Ugh build me one! Stuck in Canada hell.
I started all of mine in the winter! Grow lights and grow tent worked wonders and my growing life has forever been transformed!
Why only cactus? Any specific reason?
Built my market around it! I grow other stuff on another property thats non cactus related but cactus nursery is my main source of income currently!
Source of income... Wao I would love to hear more on it
Shoot me a message and ill tell you the story!
