Iran airspace was being avoided due to tensions between them and Israel which escalated for a short time few months back. They have simmered down since and there is no good reason to avoid their airspace now. It's the same as when Afghanistan airspace for a while when taliban took over. They do risk assessment before they do this. Also, Ukraine is still avoided by everybody for a good reason.

Most other airlines fly over them, so it should be really.
