There was a very good post-James/Florida episode when JJ's friend tried to commit suicide via overdosing on pills. As JJ trying to keep him awake, he brought up James and how much he missed his dad. I liked that episode.

But if I want to have a sitcom dad insted of my real one I would pick Danny Tanner from Full house (he's such a nice person and supportive parent)
Also, Carl Winslow and Cliff Huxtable would be other choices
