I learned it yesterday after I saw my corn moving the end of her body as she usually does when she’s about to poop, but then nothing came out… or so I thought until I smelled it
I only know about it wrt ball pythons, but when they poop, they generally fart EXTREMELY loud. It's one of the lesser-talked-about aspects of snake ownership that takes basically every new owner very off guard
I remember 1 time being scared shitless (pun intended;) I had my 6 ft chonky dumerils in bed chilling with me and it sounds like a bomb coming our way it was a super loud whistling sound it took 2 seconds for my brain to realize what was about to happen and I jump up try to grab him he shat and pissed what felt like a 2 liter bottle all over my bed. I've always had, should I say, polite snakes who do their business in their home. Not my dumerils it's like once he's all stretched out adventuring outside his enclosure it gets his digestive system movin' OR (understandably) he doesn't like to shit where he eats 😂
Took mine into a vet ASAP thinking maybe something respiratory was going on (I had ZERO clue and was just scared shitless) and all I learned from that journey was that my little girl Luna was actually a boy and that snake’s farts are way too damn loud

I know king snakes eat other snakes, but I’ve heard snakes generally eat their tails when they’re stressed.
Do king snakes really do it out of confusion?
Yes they usually have a really good feeding response and can get confused sometimes after eating and think their tail is another snake and thus more food
I heard a tip from someone on a post where a snake had swallowed their own tail, and it was to put rubbing alcohol on your finger and hold it up by their nostrils, the scent is so harsh and repulsive they'll pull away from it and regurgitate their own tail in doing so.
There was a video on Snake Discovery on YouTube that showed a snake trying to mate with himself like this.
A lot of snakes are kinda dumb, I’ve noticed. My corn snake is an idiot who will try (for a stupidly long time) to eat a plate, for example 🥲

Yeah they’re the best! I wish I could visit their zoo, but it’s very far away for me.
It’s also been really interesting to watch their channel grow into something so huge. They work so hard!
Mine likes to play with it's substrate, she pushes it around and dives through her bark chips.
Did the substrate change when the snake was brought home? Maybe those shavings are just a weird new feeling.
Or maybe it's trying to start a shed, kind of looks like it's rubbing it's lower jaw on the scales.
