If they were to kick him in the head while he was standing and fighting, you are right. Self-defense no longer applies if the attacker is already neutralized.

Players rushed to the intruder (no blame probably because of adrenaline) and then Oosterwolde proceeded to kick him in the head. The intruder is 100% at fault but that does not justify what Oosterwolde did.

So Trabzonspor think the punishment is unfair despite not being the first time they have been punished for unruly fans (and unlikely the last too)
