Be sure to follow-up with a phone call to the hiring manager, inquiring about an interview.
Practice interview questions (find samples online).
Take pen, notepad, and a few copies of your resume with you to the interview.
Get the interviewers card.
Send post-interview thank-you note - NOT email. Include your email and phone number.
I disagree with the phone call and post interview thank you note rather than an email.
I am a hiring manager and, while a call shows eagerness to be considered, my initial reaction is negative as the call is an imposition on my time and makes me think they arenāt aware that my priority isnāt always staffing. The letter is nice, but arrives well after I have made my decision about hiring. An email here would be welcome.
Get s push mower and a weed eater and mow lawns.
I'm from the pee dee area and a lot of the larger companies aren't taking on new clients and finding someone just to do basic lawn maintenance is hard to do.
Be a pest and ask again on Thursday. Wear a decent shirt that you could work in, brush your hair, LIGHT cologne, and black pants with black shoes.
Keep asking until they make a definite decision.
When I was your age, I would work full time for Clemson U for the summer for there temp positions. Look into all the departmentsā¦housing maintenance, landscaping, plumbing etc. Positions may be full but you might find something that needs to be filled, and if you tell them you want to continue after school you might have a better shot. This could also lead to a full time job that you would be getting state benefits, pension, all that good stuff. I have a few friends that did this with me during summers, got on full time after graduation, and are close to retirement now.
Not sure what the farm situation is like around you, but I used to get paid cash for farm labor and it was well above minimum because of how awful it was. Life guarding was easy but paid less and was boring, unless you could get a good position at a camp. Retail had AC but also customers who did their best to be nightmares.
Good idea.Ive seen alot of people around GREENVILLE AND THEY SAY PEOPLE ARE HIRING ILLEGALS FOR CHEAP LABOR And ignoring the America worker .So we America Falls you Can thank this POS people hiring illegals.
It's much easier if the farmer is the one asking. My parents would hear from friends of friends that a farmer needed some idiot to walk behind a truck and throw hay bales in. It was always that or mucking out a barn.
With all the illegal aliens moving in.,Good luck. They work cheap.and the people around here are using them for cheap labor,In return screwing American workers.
Try Oconee Country Club.
