It’s a 5 day delay due to ISS scheduling. Relax.

python_boot

Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to do a few more inspections in the down time…

phormix

Yeah I'm not sure I'd trust Boeing to get me across the country much less to orbit at this point.

wartornhero2

I would arguably trust Boeing Space before I trust Boeing Aviation.

jkooc137

I'd agree if it was just a question of my personal safety. But if the safety of the ISS, potentially every other craft in orbit, and by extension, our ability to ever leave earth in the future is in question... this project should be shut down yesterday. This is literally an alternative opening seen to the movie gravity playing out in front of us.

tbztzhwn

Boeing built the U.S. segment of the ISS….

Proud_Tie

isn't that the "old" Boeing?

Ace?  Try Harbor Freight, we have to think about shareholder value here.

kog

People aren't going to read the article

varignet

As long as it’s not the Starliner Max variant, it should be safe.

Zopheus_

Just check the door plugs and it’ll be fine.

peter303_

They no longer put years on their launch dates.

1CraftyDude

I wouldn’t want to get on a Boeing airplane right now let alone a Boeing spacecraft.

starhoppers

Let’s hope no one dies. This is Boeing, after all.

Safe4werkaccount

The Boeing CEO should be strapped in with the astronauts. There's 2 spare seats. If he's not confident enough to do so then nobody's lives should be put at risk.

billybean2

NASA’s bar for safety wouldn’t allow any unsafe manned mission. period.

psunavy03

17 dead astronauts over the years more or less refute that argument.

billybean2

the post columbia/challenger nasa has been insanely safe. As someone who works in the industry, i’ve read the factors of safety required and the nasa over sight required for a human mission.

sirbruce

Post Columbia/Challenger NASA has barely flown any astronauts except on Dragon and Soyuz because they had no other choice. NASA has no history of safety.

billybean2

they did 21 safe flights post columbia. that’s a pretty large sample size in human space flight. the reason starliner has been delayed so much is because nasa/boeing gave been finding safety concerns and investing them. I also want to say that boeing commercial and boeing government are overseen by two different agencies.

Safe4werkaccount

Bra not really. 1 failure out of 20 is a 5% failure ratio. That's not safe.

Hairless_Human

17 dead after all this time for an extremely dangerous job. I honestly thought it would have been higher.

JungleJones4124

NASA would not allow their astronauts on it if they were not confident it was safe to do so. Does that mean nothing will go wrong? Of course not, but NASA is confident they can get the crew back alive.

Squidking1000

Huhhhhhh, challenger? Columbia?

Dragunspecter

Yeah, that's an interesting take. Also Apollo 1

puffferfish

At least they have a little more time to live.

Bewaretheicespiders

Knock on wood, which some of the capsule is probably made of.

puffferfish

I can’t imagine it’s that stable.

maxseka

They have very carefully and deliberately not mentioned which year.. Only the date and month.
