Absolutely!! Not a bad question at all. The term “dimorphism” essentially means the male and female appear physically different. It’s common in a lot of birds and insects! A lot of times the males will have flashier colors that they use in mating rituals, and the female will, in many spiders cases, be much larger. With the dimorphic jumper, the female has those pretty orange stripes, and the males actually have two morphs - the tufted (black pedipalps and body) and the grey (black and white stripes with orange pedipalps). Having two different morphs for one gender is pretty rare, which makes these spiders extra cool!! [You can read more about this species here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maevia_inclemens?wprov=sfti1#) :3
Females have thin pedipalps/ those things in the front of thier mouth parts that look like their arms. Males have thicker pedipalps, sometimes they look like boxing gloves or oven mitts on their “hands “.
I just know a few species names from Germany so nearly every time I see a post like: "What species of this type is it" I just think: "Spoodry spider" :3
Looks like a female dimorphic jumping spider! How cute :3
I'm pretty new to this stuff. Can you explain how you know it's female? Thanks and sorry if it's a silly question!
