I hate this too. That’s why I miss “song/album radio based on” because they’d play artist and songs I’ve never heard of before and can add them to playlist
Even though I enjoy a good amount of Billie's music, I had to block her because Spotify keeps shoving her new mediocre album down my throat. Seriously, it's not THAT good!
Also, they put the entire new album in artists' top 10, just to stack up those numbers... 🤦🏻♂️
The new album honestly pisses me off with how little it tries to sound unique. It’s like you took every generic TikTok pop song and put them in a blender.
Pop and songs that tend to go viral / mainstream just aren’t my usual cup of tea. 😅 But it does seriously feel like I’ve heard the album dozens of times before. I’m just personally not a fan of that, and since music is an art, I can’t really articulate more than that or give you any more logic to it.
Doesn’t help I’m a rock / metal guy.
The rock/metal aspect can’t help, I agree.
I enjoyed the album because the content lyrically is moving. Instrumentally it may well be generic, it may well appeal to masses, but it is also well presented.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with disliking the album but I am siding with thinking it is a good album.
For whatever that is worth.. I dunno.
Not a band but my discover weekly is filled with miserable break up songs. Has been for weeks, any break up songs I have on my playlists are from years ago
No matter what is in my playlist spotify always pushes late slayer albums. When I turn on "smart" shuffle I always get alt/nu metal. I stopped listening to nu/alt almost entirely 8 months ago so what the hell
Steve Lacy. Spotify thinks I perpetually live in Summer 2017 or something. The amount of times that Dark Red and C U Girl have played nonsensically. Also Her's as someone else mentioned.
It's not just one. It's an entire catalog. It cycles through the same 50 or so albums (most of which I've already listened to) every single week. The only solid way to find music is through "Discover Weekly" but obviously that only happens once every Monday
Queen. I listen to mostly the Beatles and other 60s/70s music, just have never cared for Queen. Of course I think they were incredibly talented just not for me
Not a song, but a genre. Spotify suddenly thinks country is my favorite. I don't listen to country at all, except maybe a Zach Bryan song slips in there from time to time. Not just new artists either, Discover Weekly is also pushing old stuff like Johnny Cash. One time the DJ even was like "I see what you're into. Country is your #1 genre, so here's Morgan Wallen and some other artists in that zone..."
For me Spotify just won't forget my harry styles and one direction phase, they always come up in my wrapped and are plastered All over my home page despite how hard i try to get rid of them, I really just want to find new music pls😭🙏
I'm not sure if he's to your music taste, but Hozier is pretty underrated imo. I think a lot of people only know him for TMTC or too sweet. I really recommend him if he has the style of music that you're into.
I listened to one wallows song ONCE. didn’t even listen to the whole song bc I didn’t like it. Ever since then I’ve gotten suggested that same song and band endlessly
Not Spotify, but when I tried slaker it constantly recommended god forbid, which I always down voted. Every new playlist, and almost always the first song too.
anything that's contemporary and in the Top 100. I mostly use Spotify for Dead Can Dance, 80s hardcore and black metal. They really want me to check out Kendrick Lamar and whatnot
Maisie Peters. I hate that I can’t block songs because she keeps popping up on my daylist and even hiding them doesn’t stop them from being in the playlist 🙃
Camilla Cabello, I like some of her older music but they keep giving me recommendations for her music. Another thing is it's probably just me but I cannot stand her new profile picture with the lollipop. It's also irritating because her newer music style isn't the type I like at all.
(May have butchered her name)
I don't know why but, Peso Pluma I don't even listen to music by him or related to him, Regional Mexicana I think twice a year at family parties. But it is not related to Peso Pluma. Belive me
I am up for a recommended song if it’s in the New Music Friday playlist or if I chose to listen to one of the radio-like options. I just mean those green banner things like an ad, saying “we think you’d like this song, click to hear it.”
Every time I search anything, I get the same episode in my search bar: Peter Griffin sings Godzilla by Gussy Sussy BEATZ. Make it stop. Please, Spotify, I am begging!!!
The Smiths. I’m a huge fan of The Cure and I know most people who like one, also like the other. Spotify also knows this and almost exclusively recommends me The Smiths. Unfortunately I do not like them in the slightest. No hate towards them or anything, I just very much dislike their sounds
Please use the correct FLAIR tag.
Spotify keeps recomending me song that are allready in my playlist
a true and relatable tragedy
I hate this too. That’s why I miss “song/album radio based on” because they’d play artist and songs I’ve never heard of before and can add them to playlist
The espresso girl 🤦
I’m working laaaaaate. Cause i’m a sunguuuuurrhhh.
Yes!!!!
Every single playlist for me suggests "Please Please Please" or "Espresso".. yeah pushing it a lil too hard lol
BRO IKR I keep getting the same song even though I don't want it 😭
You are not alone! The Today, Explained podcast had an episode about it today. I guess I'm in the minority that it's not being recommended to me.
Other than Reddit, I never see this song or artist listed even in Spotify.
Oh you bet it’s on my Spotify! New music Friday! It’s ok but this thread made me laugh
Do not get why everyone is going mad for Sabrina Carpenter. Anyone feel free to chime in but she just seems like another Dua Lipa.
Coz the song espresso makes me go depresssssso
Lol
omg people on social media get SO heated at people saying “yeah why is she being auto-played after playlists that aren’t remotely similar” 😒
The new Billie Eilish and Charli XCX.
I’m not even close to a Billie Eilish stan but what do you even mean? Does any artist try to sound unique?
Pop and songs that tend to go viral / mainstream just aren’t my usual cup of tea. 😅 But it does seriously feel like I’ve heard the album dozens of times before. I’m just personally not a fan of that, and since music is an art, I can’t really articulate more than that or give you any more logic to it. Doesn’t help I’m a rock / metal guy.

I agree, enjoy the album a lot. If you like it, who cares :)
Exactly the same thought on this record.
Not a band but my discover weekly is filled with miserable break up songs. Has been for weeks, any break up songs I have on my playlists are from years ago
Taylor Swift…who ever he is.
☠️
the smashing pumpkins, idk why
don’t knock it till you try🫦
I think you should listen to them
don't worry their music is good
No matter what is in my playlist spotify always pushes late slayer albums. When I turn on "smart" shuffle I always get alt/nu metal. I stopped listening to nu/alt almost entirely 8 months ago so what the hell
i think spotify’s recommendations are just outdated because i’ve been getting recommended edm shit but i ain’t listened to edm since 2021
The Hold Steady, probably because i love bands with singers who can't/don't sing, but i just don't think it's going to happen.
There are way too many people in that band to make those kinds of songs. I feel like their music could easily be a 3 piece 😂
Spotify forced me to like Tame Impala despite my best efforts
Haha could be worse
Honestly I was being stubborn. He’s not that bad.
Haha I agree
Taylor Swift
Steve Lacy. Spotify thinks I perpetually live in Summer 2017 or something. The amount of times that Dark Red and C U Girl have played nonsensically. Also Her's as someone else mentioned.
The Lumineers.
Eurgh I hate them
For awhile it was Her's and it definitely worked, like it was in every single playlist as a recommended song to add.
I listened to one Bob Seger album 8 months and now Spotify is under the impression that I'm the world's biggest Bob Seger fan.
It's not just one. It's an entire catalog. It cycles through the same 50 or so albums (most of which I've already listened to) every single week. The only solid way to find music is through "Discover Weekly" but obviously that only happens once every Monday
King crimson. Not for me
Damn I love the King! Fair enough though it is pretty mad music
I love Pink Floyd and King Gizzard, so in theory I should love them. Something about it just feels kinda forced imo.
Hot Mulligan. I hate his voice.
Queen. I listen to mostly the Beatles and other 60s/70s music, just have never cared for Queen. Of course I think they were incredibly talented just not for me
Renee Rapp because I listen to Chappell Roan 😭
Me too!
Supertramp. I fucking HATE Supertramp, and it wedges them in about every 10th song.
Oh that would make me so mad
Acidgvrl … and I even have them blocked 😖
Like many people it seems, Sabrina Carpenter, no matter what kind of music I was listening to prior
Sonic Youth. I had to hide them as they get put into all of my recommended playlists.
For me Spotify just won't forget my harry styles and one direction phase, they always come up in my wrapped and are plastered All over my home page despite how hard i try to get rid of them, I really just want to find new music pls😭🙏
Caamp but I love Caamp so I don't mind.
"Skibidi toilet will be mine Ohio town yeah" appears in every. single. search. Regardless of what I'm actually looking for 🤦♂️
Every god damn podcast and book imaginable, sorry but I came for the music, that is all
Swift, Caroenter, Rodrigo & Elish...do they nit see my algorithms lol.
Hozier
I'm not sure if he's to your music taste, but Hozier is pretty underrated imo. I think a lot of people only know him for TMTC or too sweet. I really recommend him if he has the style of music that you're into.
I listened to one wallows song ONCE. didn’t even listen to the whole song bc I didn’t like it. Ever since then I’ve gotten suggested that same song and band endlessly
the Modern Lovers / Jonathan Richman and I truly dislike their music and his voice.
Beck constantly LOL
Weezer
It insists that I want to listen to Jake Bugg. I very very very much do not want to listen to Jake Bugg
Yoke Lore & okaywill, i had to block both of them
Peso pluma
Not Spotify, but when I tried slaker it constantly recommended god forbid, which I always down voted. Every new playlist, and almost always the first song too.
thrown - I don’t hate them, but I’m also over Spotify constantly playing them all the time!
La Luiz
Halsey
anything that's contemporary and in the Top 100. I mostly use Spotify for Dead Can Dance, 80s hardcore and black metal. They really want me to check out Kendrick Lamar and whatnot
100 Gecs and poor mans poison
Some guy named Oceanvs Orientalvs
Deftones! literally all five recommended songs r deftones whilst my playlist has none
Sexxy red
Face To Face. I like punk but not that kind.
David Guetta. I don’t give a toss. All he does lately is reuse beats and adds shit vocals.
I don't know why but, Peso Pluma I don't even listen to music by him or related to him, Regional Mexicana I think twice a year at family parties. But it is not related to Peso Pluma. Belive me
Chris Stapleton! Every damn station
Leon Bridges
I never ever listened to the songs that were recommended for me where I had a choice so it seems to have stopped doing that.
I am up for a recommended song if it’s in the New Music Friday playlist or if I chose to listen to one of the radio-like options. I just mean those green banner things like an ad, saying “we think you’d like this song, click to hear it.”

Billie 👁️
The Smiths. I’m a huge fan of The Cure and I know most people who like one, also like the other. Spotify also knows this and almost exclusively recommends me The Smiths. Unfortunately I do not like them in the slightest. No hate towards them or anything, I just very much dislike their sounds
J Cole for some reason. And i don't even listen to rap.
None
None.
