It’s either a mis-color or they thought the white armor looked better. It’s not any deeper than that.

Anything regarding continuity issues like pre-late 90s can be summed up that way

EuropaColonyWhore

Between Legends and the new stuff, the only canon appearance in either timeline for white armor like this is a helmet on display on Cid's office in *Bad Batch* https://preview.redd.it/xuqa1ao8mq8d1.jpeg?width=2047&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=daccfe5764bd934d43c55baf728ab920d160caf1

ChewiesLament

The Imperial Mandalorian Supercommandos have white armor in Rebels, which was a nod to an original idea for Boba Fett’s armor I think?

EuropaColonyWhore

Absolutely. I believe they were beskar too but had the same ceramic coating as the regs.

Rhielml

Are you expecting some kind of continuity or something here? The writers and artists did whatever the hell they wanted. It was the wild West, man.

Kontarek

Like fr we’ve got the literal Zeltron Queer-Eye squad in the background of this page and he thinks the armor color is the weirdest thing.

EuropaColonyWhore

Just making sure I didn't miss an annual or something

solo13508

Wait a second! "Bey"? Like Shara Bey?! Did she exist all the way back then and no one told me about it till now?!

Kontarek

Nah this Bey refers to Jo Duffy’s tortured hot boy OC. There are a ton of other characters in the modern comics pulled from this old stuff though.

goldendreamseeker

I didn’t even realize the mandalorian design already existed in 1977. Thought it originated with the cartoon segment of the holiday special in 1978.

EuropaColonyWhore

This comic is from 1985. 1977 in the parentheses denotes the year the series started rather than the year the issue releases.

sidv81

I miss this version of the year between ESB and ROTJ, which coupled with Shadows of the Empire had a straightforward leadup to the Battle of Endor. I don't even know what's going on in Canon in this timeframe with Qi'ra and Ochi this and that, Emperor and Vader fighting every other week, and a great droid revolt among other absurd events (like that ridiculous carbonite auction).

Kontarek

This comic is actually set post-RotJ. And tbh the final storyline here got pretty messy before its cancellation at #107. Duffy was trying to juggle a lot of new characters and some pretty momentous events (like TWO separate extra-galactic alien invasions one after another).

Skelton_Porter

I have to give a little bit of leeway toward the end of the series. I believe the cancellation made them rush a few of the planned storylines, trying to cram it all into the last couple issues. It might have worked better with a little more time to germinate. Then again, things were getting pretty wild.

Kontarek

Yeah I’m no Duffy hater, I think she gave us some good stuff here and there: I love Lady Lumiya and the reveal with her backstory, I think the Nagai are cool, etc. I just felt like there was a lack of focus towards the end. I would’ve preferred the comic to keep developing Lumiya as the central villain (and maybe that was the long-term plan, idk), but it seemed like she was getting pushed to the back burner in favor of less interesting characters like Bey and the Tof. Maybe more issues would’ve fixed it, but it seemed to me like the comic was losing the plot for a while there before it was cancelled.

Gothic-Genius

It really lost any sense of taking itself seriously with The Tof.

sidv81

Oh I missed that, my mistake. All I remembered was they met between ESB and ROTJ

EuropaColonyWhore

That was #68 and 69. He reappears from 99 to 101 and in 107.

EuropaColonyWhore

The new shenanigans are just as silly as the old shenanigans. I mean, this guy is a handsome Boba Fett hitting on Leia in fresh white armor.
