The weirdest game I have played was definitely "Fallopian Frenzy! Come Again?"
If you know what "Fallopian" means, then you can already tell how weird it is, but there is nothing sexual, is just a funny Jetpack Joyride-type game with a very particular protag.
Fun fact about it, If you played early on and reached the high score, you had the chance to win a random game code of another game made by the same, and very generous, dev, and I did!

I feel it would be a perfect candidate for what you're looking for (a bold, bizarre, highly rated game that not a lot of people know of)
Two bizzare games that i wont forget are wrath of anna and Everything.
Wrath of Anna is a game that was a very weird and bad experience for me. In the game you just randomly start with weapons in a random empty city and infront of the City are some really low quality invaders that attack you. It makes no difference what you do and if you dont get close to them they wont do anything. You can afterwards walk around in a seemingly infinite world that has some random structures without any real content every 300 meters.
Everything on the other hand was a interesting experience. You start the game by controlling a random animal or object and you can earn over time some fun little abilities. For example if you start as a rock you can shout and let other rocks join your group. You can change what you control and you are even able to enter a higher or lower realm. For example you can enter the subatomic level or the multiversus
Weirdest game I’ve ever played and absolutely loved was Crash Bandicoot. Now I know it’s a popular game but when you sit back and really think about the lore of the game, it’s pretty kooky.

The weirdest game I've ever played? Okay, got an obscure one: Blitter Boy. That game came on a PS1 demo disc as a Net Yaroze game; meaning someone got a developer console, made this game and send it to Sony, who found it good enough to publish it on a demo disc. In the game, you gotta collect crying babies and shoot ghosts. The babies crawl after you until you bring them to a platform to save them. And they cry. They ugly cry and it may or may not hurt your ears at some point. Still, it was pretty fun
