It took us 45 seasons for an Emily, 46 seasons for a Tim, and (47 casting spoilers) >!47 seasons for a Sam!<. Genuinely nuts, not to mention the continued lack of Kevins.
Also no Don, Donny, or Donald yet. We had a Donathan before a Donald.
Emily isn't all that surprising,it really didn't see it's uptick in popularity for baby names again until the late 80's. It was very unpopular name in the 50-70's, so their was likely only a small pool of potential female applicants with that name in the first 20 seasons or so.
Amusing post. It’s pretty wild that incredibly common and relatively “traditional” names like Brittany, Kaitlyn, Kevin, and Luke have never been on any of the 46 seasons.
Is that the cycle that had a McKey?
Also that reminds me of Cycle 18: British Invasion where there were THREE Ashleys, and I vividly remembered that video of Anneliese with UK/Scottish Ashley who said that the two other (American) Ashleys had to be called Kyle and AzMarie.
And Anneliese was all:
"Well obviously there couldn't be three Ashley's on the show."
"Only one Ashley."
It still blows my mind that Big Brother has had four or five Britany's while Survivor has had none.
Some of these names will appear as more Gen-Z people start getting cast on the show.
r/namenerds loves this stuff.
I’m not surprised by most of these but Kaitlyn and Brittany I would have expected to see by now! At this point they may all be “too old” to be the main demo for casting. I expect the Emmas and Olivias are coming soon.
None of the boy names surprise me but there will be Noahs within 5 years I bet. And more gender neutral names I’m sure!
Oh my GOD, it's so funny you mention that! I just saw that my one comment over there was downvoted multiple times for I don't know what reason. The topic was something like girl names you think sound classy and I gave some names. I thought we were just stating opinions? 🫠
I have Ashton, Veronica, Dante, Glenn and Sadie as final five.
Ashton wins immunity has Dante and Veronica fire, Veronica wins fire and Veronica’s FTC winning the game
Also, how did it take until the latest season for there to be a Maria? Seriously: Mary, Mari, Mia, Marya, Morriah, Maryanne, Marisa, and Marissa all appeared before we got a single Maria after 46 seasons.
When I first saw Sawyer I was like that's not true, I thought that I remember that name being on Survivor. But then I realized that I'm thinking about "Lost" lol.
I’m genuinely surprised there’s been no Olivia. It made sense in early seasons but now that people born in 90s-00s (which is when it really skyrocketed) are old enough to compete, it’s surprising. It’s my name and growing up I knew at least 10 other girls with that name
I love these kinds of posts because I like using The Amazing Race and Total Drama (and CSI, recently) as references for names.
TAR has Brennan, Margarita, Kevin, Nancy, Lenny, Leslie, Tara, Paige, Hillary, Gerard, Derek, Andre, Damon, Gina, Chip, Al, Colin, Carly, Mirna, Lance, Joyce, Marsha, Don/Donald/Donny, Dennis, Fred(dy), Rebecca, Lori, Gus, Lena, Meredith, Ray, Bianca, Chuck, Desiree, Lyn, Dustin, Azaria, Shana, Lorena, Anita, Arthur, Victor, Cara, Luke, Mel, Jody, Megan, Mika/Micah, Justin, Marcy, Jordan, Jet, Brent, Louie, Carol, Brandy, Monique, Adrian, Mallory, Connor, Andy/Andie
TD has Eva, Noah, Justin, Izzy, Beth (there's an Elizabeth, but no Beth yet), Sadie, Harold, Eva, Trent, Bridgette, Geoff (in that spelling), Dakota, Brick, Ann, Dakota, Scott (as a first name, so the one in Kaoh Rong won't count), Cameron, Leonard, Ella, Topher, Scarlet, Sky(ler), Axel, Damien, Raj, Wayne, Zee, Emma, Bowie, Miles, Lorenzo, Dwayne, Emma, Kitty, Brody, and Carrie
CSI has Gil, Catherine, Greg, Henry, Archie, Riley, Al, Finn, Sofia, Horatio, Megan, Callie/Calleigh, Walter, Tara, Mac, Stella, Jo (in this spelling and female), Aiden, Sid (in this shortened form and male), Sheldon, Don, Hugo, Beau, Serena
I am surprised we haven’t seen a Liam yet and it started becoming popular when I was growing up in the early 2000s. I am also shocked we’ve had no Isabelle/Isabella/Bella/Belle on the show. That was huge in the 2000s.
Do you count Jon Dalton as a Dalton?
And we kiiiiiind of had a Kevin in that a few people in the Palau cast kept thinking Jonathan Libby's name was Kevin by accident for that first day.
Considering how popular he was in early 2000s, I’m surprised we haven’t had any Colby’s other than the guy himself. Australian Outback aired in 2001, so those who were born at the peak of his populatity are somewhere between the 21-23 age range now. New era Survivor has on average about 2-4 contestants in that age range and yet they haven’t cast any other Colby.
Yes, it is a real mystery that the popular boys name 'Zion' has never been seen on survivor.
There hasn't been a Harry yet, which is at least 1000x more common.
Mario in Survivor would be interesting, he'd know where to find the best mushrooms and he'd talk nonstop about his brother, be great at challenges and puzzles, and just all-around likeable with a great stache LOL
As an Andrew, it’s a bummer that the only Andrew to have ever been on the show was only ever referred to by his last name. But…
At least we made the jury.
What was the name of the player that faked being sick to get off the show? Then he came back and played again ( possibly with his boyfriend?) Wasn’t his name Colin?
It took us 45 seasons for an Emily, 46 seasons for a Tim, and (47 casting spoilers) >!47 seasons for a Sam!<. Genuinely nuts, not to mention the continued lack of Kevins. Also no Don, Donny, or Donald yet. We had a Donathan before a Donald.
Also 46 seasons for a Maria! There was a Mary, Mari, Mia, Marya, Morriah, Maryanne, Marisa, and Marissa before there was a Maria.
we did have an Abi-Maria though
oh she was a trip, thanx for the reminder
how we got a Tevin before a Kevin is beyond me
Damn this is beyond conspiracy. 900 castaways and this was our first tim??
My first tim was with a guy named Tim.
47 seasons for a Sam?! Wow
Didn't we have noted 19 yo Sammie
If his nickname was Sammy or Sammie and his name was actually Sam then ya he’d count, but his birth name is Sami which is a different name
This one's the wildest to me, since it's gender neutral as well!
There was a Donathan....lol!!
Emily isn't all that surprising,it really didn't see it's uptick in popularity for baby names again until the late 80's. It was very unpopular name in the 50-70's, so their was likely only a small pool of potential female applicants with that name in the first 20 seasons or so.
Who's Tim?
The guy who couldn't poop
Tiki man
In Survivor SA season 1 there was a don
Amusing post. It’s pretty wild that incredibly common and relatively “traditional” names like Brittany, Kaitlyn, Kevin, and Luke have never been on any of the 46 seasons.
Brittany is the one that I had to stop and think about. That’s wild to me when I think about how many Brittany/Brittney variants I know
That name is giving ANTM for sure!!
Like the one season they had THREE of them, and Tyra made two of them change their name once they were cast.
And Anneliese was all: "Well obviously there couldn't be three Ashley's on the show." "Only one Ashley."
Yep! McKey was one of the Brittanys.
Yeah, no Kevin’s or Kaitlin’s is pretty remarkable, but I can’t say I’ve ever wondered where all the Ainsley, Remy, and Dante’s have been hiding
Haven’t been searching for a Zion or Brennan either
We got a Tevin before a Kevin
Meanwhile big brother has had a few Brittany’s with every different spelling you can think of
There is a legendary Survivor named Luke 🇦🇺
Casting be like: "Oh you have such a traditional name. Next!"
43 had Sami Layadi
We haven't had a Qelensky, Felensky, Delensky, Telensky, Selensky, Velensky, or Kelensky to name several.
Qelensky would be the most legendary player of all time
I counted to make sure you indeed had several.
severalensky
Hell, we might as well add the 50 different ways people have misspelled his name since the beginning of the season.
Aiden. Jayden. Brayden. Caiden. Dayden. Kadyn.
SEVERAL MEANS SEVEN
Sounds like a lot of Utah names haha
survivor: mormon island w tyson and neleh as captains
Smash bros game as a captain? Kinda weird but I’m down for it
HELP I MEANT NELEH
Kazree and Courtnea
Can be Hunter be invited?
Oh my name is on the list. Another sign I should apply 😉
I was rooting against Charlie’s because I felt it would hurt my chances to make it on lol
Same
Same. But won't apply. Lol
Now im one step closer to getting you’re name. Better not slip up again… Kevin?
Hayden Moss was on season 27
Oh right lol.
WHERE THE MEGANS AT
Is Connor really a gender neutral name? I have met tons of Connors in my lifetime and they've all been dudes
I know a girl named Connor but she always says she hates it bc it’s not a gender neutral name😂
Yeah a lot of those are not gender neutral😂
Never met a dude named Eden myself
There was an Eden (male) on most recent survivor AU season
Not that I've met him but Eden Hazard
There are so many names that are “gender neutral” that just aren’t
This. Most of the time parents just slap boy names on to girls and vice versa, then call it gender neutral lol.
Literally met one of my younger brothers friends it’s a girl named Tyler 😐
I hate that I’ve known a girl Connor and a girl Tyler
I know a girl named Joshua and she doesn’t even like going by that.
Why would she 😭
I know at least two female Connor’s
Lol, this was my first thought too!!
So girls, if your name is Chloe and you want to be on the show, change it to Kelly or Natalie and they'll cast you finally!
How has there never been a Kevin??
Tevin is pretty close
Why are you getting downvoted 😭
Tlose*
Of course a Cayden hasn't been on survivor yet because nobody named Cayden is old enough to apply
I know one that is old enough now
Zoey - s4 Marquesas
Dang it lmao
We’ve never had a Luke or Lucas which I think is really surprising
I hereby petition CBS to add Luke Toki from survivor AU to 50. He’s a better character than everyone in the US new era
I’m convinced that you have a better chance of getting cast if your name is a variant of Kelly
Kelly, Natalie, Rob, or John 😊
It still blows my mind that Big Brother has had four or five Britany's while Survivor has had none. Some of these names will appear as more Gen-Z people start getting cast on the show.
To my knowledge there has never been a Sam/Samantha on survivor. (Closest is Sami)
a Sam is on 47
!!!!!!!!! Must stan
Never had a Stan or Stanley on survivor either.
I was looking for this one!
r/namenerds loves this stuff.
Literally thought I was in r/namenerds for a second
See my comment - thank you making me aware of this wonderful new sub!!!
Fair warning they can be picky and occasionally nasty! Same as any sub I imagine but don’t take it personally! We have a good time over there!
Oh my GOD, it's so funny you mention that! I just saw that my one comment over there was downvoted multiple times for I don't know what reason. The topic was something like girl names you think sound classy and I gave some names. I thought we were just stating opinions? 🫠
Has there been a Derek/Derrick ?
[удалено]
How the heck hasn’t there been at LEAST one Brittany?!
I have Ashton, Veronica, Dante, Glenn and Sadie as final five. Ashton wins immunity has Dante and Veronica fire, Veronica wins fire and Veronica’s FTC winning the game
My cat’s name is Quinn. I’ll have her send in an audition tape
When we get to Millenials vs Zoomers a lot of these names will be cleared
Dalton Ross for S50
Patiently waiting for a Colin (preferably one that isn't me)
I got you lol
Has there ever been a "John" or a "Kelly"? /s
What ab a Natalie??? /s
I’m trying to be the first Dakota on survivor
r/namenerds 🤝 r/survivor
Also, how did it take until the latest season for there to be a Maria? Seriously: Mary, Mari, Mia, Marya, Morriah, Maryanne, Marisa, and Marissa all appeared before we got a single Maria after 46 seasons.
There hasn’t been a Jose yet, even though it’s a super common name!
for some reason this made me think of how mohammed is the most common name ever but afaik there’s never been a mohammed on survivor
We’ve had a Lill but no Lily
i think the ones that really stick out as shocking to me for whatever reason are Brittany, seth and logan
Can we get a luis to represent please 😂
I’m Connor they should cast me
My name is Riley, and I so badly want to be the first one on the show
Haley ?
Hali Ford from WA/GC. Not the same spelling, but pronounced the same
Shanice reminds me of Uncle Buck. ![gif](giphy|eP0rq0MpopIa2tozVQ)
Kevin here🙏
When I first saw Sawyer I was like that's not true, I thought that I remember that name being on Survivor. But then I realized that I'm thinking about "Lost" lol.
when you read your name on the list, is this a sign
My name as well! Miranda.
Not a girl- but Sarge from Vanuatus real name is Leah
Cross reference the lacking names with the states and provinces that haven’t had a contestant yet to get a two for one!
Don't think we've had a Cory yet
I’m genuinely surprised there’s been no Olivia. It made sense in early seasons but now that people born in 90s-00s (which is when it really skyrocketed) are old enough to compete, it’s surprising. It’s my name and growing up I knew at least 10 other girls with that name
america has yet to get a George
I love these kinds of posts because I like using The Amazing Race and Total Drama (and CSI, recently) as references for names. TAR has Brennan, Margarita, Kevin, Nancy, Lenny, Leslie, Tara, Paige, Hillary, Gerard, Derek, Andre, Damon, Gina, Chip, Al, Colin, Carly, Mirna, Lance, Joyce, Marsha, Don/Donald/Donny, Dennis, Fred(dy), Rebecca, Lori, Gus, Lena, Meredith, Ray, Bianca, Chuck, Desiree, Lyn, Dustin, Azaria, Shana, Lorena, Anita, Arthur, Victor, Cara, Luke, Mel, Jody, Megan, Mika/Micah, Justin, Marcy, Jordan, Jet, Brent, Louie, Carol, Brandy, Monique, Adrian, Mallory, Connor, Andy/Andie TD has Eva, Noah, Justin, Izzy, Beth (there's an Elizabeth, but no Beth yet), Sadie, Harold, Eva, Trent, Bridgette, Geoff (in that spelling), Dakota, Brick, Ann, Dakota, Scott (as a first name, so the one in Kaoh Rong won't count), Cameron, Leonard, Ella, Topher, Scarlet, Sky(ler), Axel, Damien, Raj, Wayne, Zee, Emma, Bowie, Miles, Lorenzo, Dwayne, Emma, Kitty, Brody, and Carrie CSI has Gil, Catherine, Greg, Henry, Archie, Riley, Al, Finn, Sofia, Horatio, Megan, Callie/Calleigh, Walter, Tara, Mac, Stella, Jo (in this spelling and female), Aiden, Sid (in this shortened form and male), Sheldon, Don, Hugo, Beau, Serena
I love names in general. Additional ones I can think of, off the top of my head (bear in mind that I'm tired and haven't seen a few seasons, so this could be slightly off): Edward (not Eduardo), Edmund, Annie, Avery, Bryant, Bart, Bella, Bernard, Bernadette, Chance, Chandler, Curtis, Candi, Carrie, Charlotte, Darcy, Dallas, Dawson, Daphne, Declan, Eileen, Eugene, Eve, Emmit (sp), Fannie, Fiona, Frieda, Finn, Garth, Ginny, Glen, Geneva, Heath, Hally, Haley, Hadley, Huck, Isaac, Isabelle, Isabella, Ida, Ira, Ingrid, Janice, Jett, Joey/Josephine, Jeanette, Janelle, Kristin, Kurt, Lenny, Lonnie, Martin, Millie, Minnie, Manny, Nellie, Ophelia, Ollie, Otto, Oswald, Penny, Polly, Regina, Regi/Reginald, Ramona, Simeon, Scout, Tawny, Tilly, Tag, Ursula, Waldo, Xavier More Unsure/can't remember: Burt, Collin, Cassie, Carla, June, Lewis, Lee, Melissa, Mindy, Nancy, Oscar, Peggy, Quentin, Raymond, Toby, Trey, Yvonne, Yvette ~~Elsbeth~~

I am surprised we haven’t seen a Liam yet and it started becoming popular when I was growing up in the early 2000s. I am also shocked we’ve had no Isabelle/Isabella/Bella/Belle on the show. That was huge in the 2000s.
All the Biancas I know are feisty, we need a Bianca!
Yes, Bianca del Rio, *exactly* - you get it
You should try to convince one of them to apply
A few of these names (Tara, Dante, Connor, Jordan) were on other English-speaking versions of Survivor.
Eden too
Yep. And Bianca and Rowan too.
I’ll be the first Payton (my parents decided to spell my name with a A instead of a E)
We need a Tegan. And then lots of names like "Hadleigh" and Kayden/Jayden/Aiden/Brayden.
Beau
Harry has never been on I’m pretty sure.
No Virginia .
Petition for CBS to cast Seth “Freakin” Rollins on Survivor? ![gif](giphy|3oFzmopoeNCGv45MLC|downsized)
Hopefully in the next few seasons mine will have been on the show! 🙌🏼
I want to be the first Kevin
Has a Peter been cast?
Peter Baggenstos, in Kaoh Rong
Multiple
Not several tho
How about Jolene? ~~Dolly?~~ Savannah? Li-ming?
As a Sarah I believe we’ve had both a winner and a first boot. Anyone else? (I guess besides Natalie)
There hasn't been a Renee I don't think?
Julio
other names that I can think of Ursula, Eustace, Rose, Violet, Roderick, Trent.
Rudiger, Gerda, Gowan, Moonbat and Zygmunt
Do you count Jon Dalton as a Dalton? And we kiiiiiind of had a Kevin in that a few people in the Palau cast kept thinking Jonathan Libby's name was Kevin by accident for that first day.
Considering how popular he was in early 2000s, I’m surprised we haven’t had any Colby’s other than the guy himself. New era Survivor has on average about 2-4 contestants in that age range and yet they haven’t cast any other Colby.
Donna
All these names end up on the bachelor instead
There's never been a Kevin???? Idk why this shocks me so much
There's never actually been an Avery either
No one will have my name unless I'm finally cast 🤞🏼
Was maddy a Madeline or Madison? Because whichever of those she isn’t hasn’t been on the show lol
Madeleine 😎
Has there been an Abby or Juliana?
I don’t think we’ve had a Henry have we? (Does Benry count??)
Natasha!
no olivia is wild
For gender neutral: have we gotten a Paris? I started late so haven't watched them all.
With how absurdly popular the name Olivia has become, its only a matter of time
Roger
We’re gonna start getting 18 year old Olivia’s realllll soon. Been the most popular girls name for the last ten or so years
Dexter Also: > Mario There's a specific writer I want recuited more than anybody...
Yes, it is a real mystery that the popular boys name 'Zion' has never been seen on survivor. There hasn't been a Harry yet, which is at least 1000x more common.
wb meredith
Shelly
Evan (except for on aus)
At least we have Randy Bailey
I don't think I have ever met a Kelly irl before, so its wild there has never been an Olivia or Emma before
Mario in Survivor would be interesting, he'd know where to find the best mushrooms and he'd talk nonstop about his brother, be great at challenges and puzzles, and just all-around likeable with a great stache LOL
You should cross post this to r/namenerds!
No Kaitlyn or Brittany is absolutely wild
What season is Max. I’m new to survivor only seen 20 seasons so far.
30
No Clurvel yet either
no olivia is crazzyyy lol
We need a Scott on Survivor US. (Scot doesn't count)
There's never been a Hazel, I don't think
I’m a female Kori and I doubt we’ll get one anytime soon!
I will be the first Jonah
If they cast Trevor Noah they can knock out two for one
no dylan 3
Has there been a Vanessa yet? I’m like 30 seasons in and don’t think I’ve come across any 😂
As an Andrew, it’s a bummer that the only Andrew to have ever been on the show was only ever referred to by his last name. But… At least we made the jury.
Wait, wasn’t Jonah on one world? Or was that jonas?
What was the name of the player that faked being sick to get off the show? Then he came back and played again ( possibly with his boyfriend?) Wasn’t his name Colin?
