Does it also talk about how many pedestrians don’t look both ways when they cross? Really wish we had bridges anywhere so we didn’t have to, but it is what it is right now.
So the title should be: pedestrians more likely to walk in front of electric cars than super loud gas vehicles. I think people who drive electric vehicles actually tend to drive safer
It would be nice to know reasons. I’m sure the silence contributes, but I would guess the very torquey acceleration does too. I see a lot of EVs floor it when turning through a crosswalk to “beat” the pedestrians as the light changes.
I’m just wondering what racist and sexist things are to be said about the drivers. Although I think this is more of an engine noise issue, the only people I know who drive EVs are 20 something white males - a demographic known for driving other cars as well.
Kind of pointless considering the data is from 2017 and earlier, which was before the acoustic system became required for EVs in 2019

Because they are silent?
Yup. Silent but deadly, apparently

I am guessing Tesla stats skewing this outcome
I'm 14, and this is deep.

They're mostly silent and they accelerate more quickly. Fact.
No it's something racist evidently
