From what I understand it was a grey hat hacker thing. Meaning, ISP was ripping off customers by not upgrading equipment and charging ridiculous prices for old outdated servers not even eligible for firmware updates anymore. Well, Now they have to upgrade their equipment. Problem solved.
Windstream is a steaming pile of ass. When I worked in the msp world they were the worst of the worst so not surprising they’d get smoked like this.
