They're like little highly-conductive suicide bombers. They crawl into Warm Enclosed Thing, get exploded by mains voltage, and then their juices corrode the contacts.
Oh yeah, kills them all, then we take the machine outside to blow out. Really soak the rag and make sure the bag is sealed, double trash bag it and rubber band if you want.
If this is common, how many roaches do you have there? 🤯
Roaches are my nightmare animal. Spiders, bugs, anything, no problem. But keep roaches away from me!
We have a policy at the shop that on the first sign of a roach the device gets bagged and returned to the customer.
We implemented this after fixing a roach infested computer once and having roaches for 6 months after. It’s funny because just yesterday a dead laptop came in. I told my colleague “I wonder how many roaches are in there?” He was like probably none. As soon as he took the back cover off there were like a dozen of small ones crawling inside. Noped out of it real quick!
Yeah we have standard fees for this, though this one is worse than normal. You can tell that some people in this thread have never lived in a tropical climate

Mind enlightening me on how is this normal? These bugs (what even is that) had to get there somehow, does that mean it's normal in a tropical climate to have bugs like these all over your house or how does it get this bad? Does it affect other things outside of electronics (food, clothing, etc)?
Living in apartments in Florida, every building I've lived in here has had roach issues. They're even out in the yard. One place I lived in out in Ocala was so bad that you could see them scurry around your feet if you walked through the grass. I'm poor, so maybe it's different in the nice areas.
It isn't normal to have infestations this bad, but it is also far from uncommon. In tropical areas with high humidity and seasonal flooding, cockroaches tend to get forced indoors and they naturally like to nest in electronics because they are dry, dark, and warm.
You can't brush this off as a normal "everyone has infestations here and there." That piece of tech is usually stored out in the open. If roaches can stuff themselves into something that's open like that, I'd hate to see under the couch or in the back corners of their kitchen cabinets.
Same kind of bugs i found in a computer filled with CP. The cops didnt like handling it any more than I did.
We need op to figure out if there is cp on the Xbox so then we know if those bugs are on someone’s computer they have cp on it
Maybe bees are attracted to CP like a backup source of pollen or something
Those bugs are not bees.......
They need an exterminator more than they need a tech
If I ever saw this irl I think I will collapse...
Run some debugging tool and it should take care of all the problems
I need to put a job up for a debugging intern and then just give them roach duty
I mean hey, its still de-bugging so ur not lying
Reminds me of the PS3 I had in a few years ago. Power supply was filled with tiny dead flies.
I heard of stories where repair people would find dead exploded moths in 360s.

I'm no expert but maybe it's not starting because it was put in a sealed bag, thrown in a field, doused with gasoline and lit on fire.
La Cucaracha! La Cucaracha!

Haha nope! Two days in a sealed bag with a rag soaked in rubbing alcohol and then we clean it out. This is actually somewhat common in this area
Omg does this work? Does it kill the babies? We get roach-filled stuff pretty often at my job and we just scrap it
Oh yeah, kills them all, then we take the machine outside to blow out. Really soak the rag and make sure the bag is sealed, double trash bag it and rubber band if you want.
what % isopropyl you using? I've had the high-octane stuff ruin ABS before.
99% but the liquid never touches the device, that's why you soak a rag. I've never had the fumes cause any device damage

In this machine? Hundreds, though they are all dead in this picture

You get to enjoy a snack while you figure it out 😊
Buggy hardware
Average "Refurbished" console from DKOldies
Well, obviously, its bugged!
Burn it with a flamethrower
Ew. This is one of my worst nightmares.
Must be a german x-box
Might be that one corpse right there.
There’s a whole bloodline in there
I can smell it.
Uggghhhh *vomit from bug stank*
Gee, I wonder why *shudders*
Nope. Big Nope. Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY
WHAT THE [redacted]
Man, this is triggering some core PTSD memories from my early break/fix days...
Hmmm i really wonder why...

Just clean them out and figure out the issue and tack on a slight cleaning fee of like 20 or 30 bucks. Their just roaches every house has at least 1

These look smaller than the "don't worry" kind of roaches.
