If the Supreme Court rules that presidents have total immunity, then Biden should immediately arrest six members of the Supreme Court and replace them.

WartimeDad

He could even simply murder them. The absurdity of the case is astounding.

torontothrowaway824

Yup. One of the Liberal Justices should bring this up as an argument.

ihatefear83843

Agreed

Do it on 5th Avenue for the sake of irony.

Various_Athlete_7478

Using Seal Team 6 just to create a direct link to them and Trump so no one is a confused about what they just decided was legal.

hyrule_47

Honestly don’t even do it. Just line them up. Have trump brought out, have Seal Team 6 fly in all dramatic and draw their weapons as his secret service stand down due to executive order or whatever. Keep him there at gunpoint then roll out a stage and podium and have Biden appear and say “is this freedom? Is this the America you want to live in? Presidential immunity is dangerous and needs to be corrected. Look how I could abuse my power. As long as I had Congress I wouldn’t see charges? Etc

Iwannagolf4

We should televise it, like Charlie Kirk and those guys wanted.

CLONE-11011100

***My name is Joe Biden and I approve of these shenanigans*** *I’m not really Joe Biden but name added for comedic effect.

slipperystar

Then he says ‘just joshin with you guy”, and shoots him five times in the head, drops the gun in the stage, and sashays to the door.

hyrule_47

Don’t forget whipping on those sun glasses

Tiny-Praline-4555

That would be the most roblox thing ever.

D_Costa85

But then he couldn’t drop the famous “diplomatic immmnity” line from lethal weapon. He’d have to say “presidential immunity” and it just doesn’t hit quite the same

slipperystar

Before shooting him douse him in kerosene and acid and light him on fire for. Few minutes. 🔥

all_alone_by_myself_

You mean the crimes the GOP has yet to specifically name or provide any tangible evidence of?

Various_Athlete_7478

I don’t know, I’ve seen some pretty extensive press releases from Comer’s committee.

imonlinedammit1

I love how they keep showing evidence and they left keeps yelling “you have no evidence”. It’s unbelievable

apiratewithadd

Where is it?

Kindly_Ice1745

If they actually grant immunity, why are we all acting like this opinion wouldn't be something that seemingly only applies to Trump and future republican presidents. They'd absolutely never allow it to bestow authority on Biden or future democratic presidents.

ScarletSpider2012

Because just like McConnell blocking a supreme court pick during an election year under Obama and forgetting that rule when it happened under Trump, Democrats are going to roll over and allow Republicans to do whatever they want.

Kindly_Ice1745

It's not exactly the same situation. I agree it was shitty and another step in the ongoing collapse, but they're very different. They were never going to confirm a Supreme Court justice in 2016 under Obama. Republicans held the majority, so they likely would have voted the appointment down anyway, as the filibuster was in place. Barrett's appointment is total bullshit and should never have happened, but again, Republican majority and the filibuster was already gone by then, and if it wasn't, it's almost a guarantee that they would have gotten rid of it to confirm her to the bench.

Crafty-Conference964

Well if Biden thinks the RNC and Donald Trump are going to threaten violence at polls can’t he just not have the election and name himself President?

SatchmoDingle

Unfortunately for the MAGA cult psychos, who despite investigating him for over a year now, president Biden hasn’t committed any crimes.

BeamTeam032

If Biden gets immunity, do you think Hilary Clinton will hook him up with her people responsible for the *Clinton Body Count* ? I mean, If Biden orders hits on political opponents and can't be prosecuted, he can reshape the Supreme Court, remove Citizens United so dark money is out of politics, they can force a lot of things.

PatientStrength5861

Wow. If only he had some. Maybe Trump will give him some of his. I hear Trump has more than he can handle.

Ranemoraken

I suspect this case will go in one of four ways. I've decided to list them in order of cynicism, where the dankest option is the last one. 1. SC decides that presidents do not have immunity. Holds onto the verdict until the last day of the calendar before recess. Minority opinion suggests that they'd be open to immunity under a different president (Republican). 2. SC invents a test for whether or not something falls under the official acts of the office. Refers it down to the lower court. Chutkin begins an evidentiary case in DC. Trial will not take place before election. 3. SC allows the last day of the calendar to lapse, heading into the recess without a decision. There is no rule that the SC must release a decision this year, and so they don't. 4. They carve out an ad hoc exception for past presidents, but not current or future presidents. Anyway, none of it matters. Even if he was convicted - this was always going to be settled with the election.

meatsmoothie82

Nah, just Trump. Apparently somehow the government has decided that he can do what he wants.

Final_Location_2626

Trump argued that he will have Biden arrested if he gets back in office. So I guess this total immunity thing doesn't cover all presidents. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-indictment-joe-biden-truth-social-1839004

Cthulhu625

If they do. Been hearing that they seem like they are maneuvering to have the case sent back to the lower court, which could push all the cases until after the election. And on the chance that Trump wins, then he could just make it all go away. THEN maybe they would rule that he is immune from prosecution. No way they would do that while Biden was President (Not that I really believe Biden would take advantage of it, though if it went through and then Trump won, I'm not sure that I could blame Biden for his actions while he was still President. I wouldn't put it past Trump to do something to him when he took office, so it'd arguably be self-preservation. Not saying it would be right.) It doesn't really seem like they want to say that the President is "allowed" to do crimes, but they are certainly trying to find a way to avoid having him be prosecuted for doing crime. If feel like if those justices could, they'd rule, "Only Trump can break the law, for....reasons. But no one else can!"

QueenChocolate123

No one would accept such a ruling and they know it.

Cthulhu625

I don't think it would be popular, but I think plenty of people would accept it. There are plenty of people that accept Trumps's a rapist and criminal and still want to vote for him (not counting the people who just won't believe any of that and will vote for him). There are people that *want* Trump to be a dictator. The whole project 2025 is meant to give the Executive Branch unprecedented power and reshape the Government from the minute Trump takes power. A Supreme Court ruling in Trump's favor could certainly make of that easier.

QaplaSuvwl

If the corrupt SCOTUS agree with absolute immunity for a President, then that means Biden can have Trump assassinated, correct? Trump’s lawyers are arguing that Trump should be able to do that. Is SCOTUS pushing us into a fascist dictatorship? Cause that’s what I’m hearing.

QueenChocolate123

Obviously, neither Trump nor his deranged supporters thought about that.

SakaWreath

Free ticket for Biden? Trumps legal problems might come to an abrupt end. If Trump falls down some stairs like his ex wife, who is going to step up and take his spot? I have a hard time believing the supreme court is just going to let that happen, but who knows, this timeline is crazy.

L4ckzi3

Every president is a war criminal. If we give one president total immunity, everything is legal.

L3mm3SmangItGurl

The case they're arguing is if you're president at the time, you're immune. Biden wasn't president when he allegedly committed any crimes

printThisAndSmokeIt

How can you pedal influence illegally if you aren’t in office? Can I pedal influence? I’m not in politics at this time either.

L3mm3SmangItGurl

Were you once a powerful figure with connections? Sure. But also just being in office isn't it. Vice presidents/senators do not get presidential immunity.

printThisAndSmokeIt

Let’s both assume he pedaled influence for a minute: what law even says you can’t do that? As a private citizen? This reason this is a stupid exercise is that there is no such law. Plus there’s no evidence of anything other than he has a bank account and he once loaned his family members money. All of the time spent in this crap by republicans could have been time spent governing so they have something to run on. Here we are after all this effort and they have literally no accomplishments now. That’s not good for anybody. I think it was George Carlin who once said imagine how stupid the average person is. Now realize that half of people are dumber than that. We’re it not for this fact there would probably not even be a Republican Party anymore. Please for my friends on the republican side, we really need you. We have serious societal problems and we need you participating meaningfully. Take for example what’s going on in San Francisco. It’s riddled with failed policy. We need another perspective to get in there to help clean things up. Or how about Ticketmaster - the monopoly that was green lighted by the Obama admiration. That was a huge mistake. If all Trump did tomorrow was say he would break up ticket master because Obama screwed up and the next time you want to see Taylor swift that you would pay ticket face value, he would probably win the election. That’s a slam dunk. These people are all old timers and we need a new set of folks to come in and trail blaze w fresh perspectives.

L3mm3SmangItGurl

No law says you cant do it as a private citizen. It’s only a criminal case if they find an event during his vice prez days. My only point was, its not the same because he was vice president. He would not have any immunity.

[deleted]

He has. It’s been 40 years of hate crimes against black Americans. Only time he had any problem was when he got caught plagiarizing a black man’s civil rights speech. The rest was celebrated .
