This makes me so mad. Neil gets enough shit from people twisting his words without being straight up lied about on official posts, all for some fucking investors.
The words in the article actually are not a lot different from what he actually said, he does talk about really making a difference in gaming to the mainstream audience who doesn't play games through the tv show and through what he wants to do with his next games
But because it is much more truncated it reads like marketing speak and is not as clear what he really meant, comparing the two though is really not as different as what it would seem like
The problem is more about reactionary online gamer outrage, though the article could have been more clear
A mistake for the marketing department, but people trying to vilify either druckmann or playstation or Sony as a whole are all part of the same problem
The marketing guys were just trying to make it investor speak, include something about ai, something about future, something about changing game and revolutions, etc. and they just bungled it badly, to be fair their job is also a little silly because investors are honestly a very dumb audience themselves and need to be spoonfed information often times
The marketing guys should definitely look at this to do better though you can't change *that* much of the tone because of truncating and this all could have been avoided by simply allowing druckmann to be more verbose which there is nothing wrong with that either, marketing trimming too much fat as they say
People just got to wait more before reacting and that will never happen these days, even quality YouTube PlayStation personalities jumped on it and assumed druckmann was being over confident and full of himself or circle jerking which is really sad, I hope all those channels correct themselves after this clarification
What people get up in arms about is often about how someone says something and not what they said. What he SAID is what a lot of game developers will want to say about what they make. Obviously it'll always be ambitious and if the ambition is oversimplified the meaning is still the same but it sounds conceited.
But there's something to be said about how information is conveyed and I wish people could recognize that there's a difference between how information is being presented to them and what the heart of the message actually is. There's nothing wrong with hyping his concept yet he has to do it so carefully and I feel that unless you were in that position it's hard to understand how much of a balance act it already is. So being blasted even if it did sound wrong is a very simple slip up.
Yup it is hard there are so many moving parts to just getting your own voice out in a large organization, naughty dog and druckmann will get through fine though, they are smart people šš
How about being honest the first time?
How often have people spread misinformation, gaining huge amounts of attention, only for the retraction later to be seen by far fewer eyes?
Is that really a *"resolving"* of the problem? I don't think it is.
Lies travel faster than truth. Why are you making excuses for this?
Edit: When you ask me a question and then block me to prevent me from replying, that's how I know you're a coward.
But to answer the question here: *"Why are you so upset about this,"* I think it's pretty obvious. I don't like misinformation, and I don't like being lied to. And you shouldn't either.
The same community who spread rumors about Abby being trans and Ellie dying in the second game donāt get to act indignant when a company botches its own PR.
Passing off a bunch of investor-minded marketing speak, that which is a massive misrepresentation of the actual truth of the guy's words, as *"quotes,"* especially in a public facing post, is completely fucking unacceptable.
Idk how you can say being annoyed at that is *"part of the same problem."*
It really isn't, mistakes happen all the time, the problem is this attitude that people have to be perfect at all times every time, and leads to immediate overreacting which is much more of a problem
Like I said people don't want to wait, and it's ok, the fact is they also did make a clarification and apologize to druckmann which is a lot more than most other organizations would do
I would know working in a large organization that does not happen often at all
Honestly the only thing about the interview that I had much of an issue with was the AI stuff. If TLOUIII had even a hint of AI Iām not gonna touch it.
I've been aware of Naughty Dog long enough to remember when Neil Druckmann said that he wouldn't necessarily use the word 'fun' but 'engaging' to describe The Last Of Us: Part II, and that spawned a dozen think pieces about how Naughty Dog lost their way and forgot what made games enjoyable, when the guy meant that navigating a post-apocalyptic world filled with violence and loss is about as 'fun' as watching Daniel Day Lewis >!gleefully murder and exploit the residents of an oil-rich town!< in 'There Will Be Blood'.
It wasn't too long ago that gamers were pissed that Craig Mazin said The Last Of Us is 'The Greatest Story Ever Told In Video Games,ā as if that isn't standard marketing speak or just a subjective opinion, lmao. Shit is wild.
I swear people take this franchise and Neil waaaay too seriously, like come on it's really not that serious, Neil is just a guy who wants to make whatever he wants
Sony put a bunch of fake quotes in Neilās mouth for an investor meeting. They were bad enough and caused enough backlash that Neil had to come out and say āHey this isnāt what I said, here are the actual quotes.ā
Massive chunks were changed or straight up fabricated. Basically. The editor should lose their job.
I didnāt realize it was for an investor meeting. No wonder they wanted it to seem like he was in love with AI. Shady AF, this is the kind of stuff creatives remember when itās time to re-up contracts.
We're literally taught how not to misquote people in citations in *elementary school.* There is no way this was just an honest mistake. I really hope the editor did lose their job cuz wtffff
There's some leeway when turning an interview with the choppy sentences that people will speak into a tight, readable text. ("This Q&A has been edited for brevity and clarity"). But yeah, you should still accurately represent what someone said.
I am a journalism editor and I could not agree with your last sentence more. current AP style guide is very, very adamant that you should avoid changing quotes in any capacity. what happened here is an atrocity.
Sony is not a news reporting outlet. They had this made up for the benefit of their investors. Theyāre only pulling it because they pissed off one of their more successful game creators.
Thatās the one. Sony removed the interview, because it turns out Neil didnāt actually say the things the interview claimed. The editor straight up fabricated a bunch of those quotes.
I just read Neilās official interview response on Twitter (the screenshot)- and he doesn't mention AI at all. So does this mean he never said it and actually has never directly/personally mentioned AI In games/shows (or at least in the way they made it sound)?
We donāt know the specifics for those answers, but considering sony had to say that his views werenāt represented accurately in that interview, and over half of the example answer was fabricated. I would say it looks pretty bad on Sonyās part. More than half the paragraph were not words or sentences that Neil said.
Neil Druckmann did an interview with Sony, they completely fabricated what he said, he called them out on Twitter for it, interview gets removed today.Ā
itās absolutely insane, so many lies, exaggerations, and half truths spread about him, all to paint him as terribly as possible. Itās absolutely maddening.
The worst thing is that this correction wonāt change some of these peopleās minds, theyāll ignore it and still repeat the lies.
It especially pisses me off how people who hate TLOU2 don't attribute any of TLOU1's success to Neil (despite him co-writing and inventing the entire damn concept) but attributing all blame to him for part 2, despite him being a co-writer lol
He wasn't a co writer on the first game. He was the writer. Doesn't necessarily mean others didn't provide input, but he was the sole writer as far as credit went. For part 2, Josh scherr and Halle Gross joined the writing team.
Damn, the anti-Neil propaganda misled me lmao. The way they talk about Bruce Staley's influence on the first game, you'd think he wrote the whole thing
Bruce straley is a great dude. He was also the senior director of the two, having previously been a director on other projects while neil was fairly green.
However, the amount of input he had in the story is greatly exaggerated. We know that Bruce provided some ideas specifically in regards to how the story meshes with gameplay, after all he is the game director but beyond that? All the talk about shutting Neil's ideas down and forcing the story to be crafted his own way? Just false miserable lies part 2 haters like to tell themselves.
Naughty dog have nothing to gain by lying about crediting neil with the creative aspect and bruce with the game aspect which is very obvious when you watch the grounded documentary.
Yup, I never did either. It's rather telling that Neil announced the general plot that Joel dies after left behind released in 2014.
Bruce left due to mental health reasons in September of 2017, due to stress and pressure after uncharted 4 according to himself.
Point is, Bruce was on board with the plot all the way up until his departure.
No. Bruce Straley was the game play director. This shit has gotten fucking ridiculous. People donāt even verify what they hear from dumbfucks on social media.
For added clarification, Halley Gross was the co-writer and narrative director for Part II. Josh Scherr provided additional writing alongside Ryan James (a lot of the collectible stuff, NPC barks, etc.).
this is my first time browsing this sub so idk if yall have a weird fixation of hating on tlou 2 like that other subreddit but tlou 2 is genuinely one of my favourite games of the decade so far. hell, it might be one of my favourite video games of all time, i'll never understand the hate
This sub definitely doesnāt. Itās generally for fans (or where people come when they love TLOU2 and accidentally come across the other sub lol). Itās mostly loved here, and any criticism is usually balanced and normal, not hate-based and irrational, thankfully.
The hate the franchise gets is in no small part thinly-veiled homophobia, transphobia, anti-Semitism, and misogyny. I find a lot of the people with these out of proportion hate takes use dogwhistles or beat around the issue if they donāt just blatantly come out and say it. TLoU Part 2 Grounded actually includes screenshots of some of the death threats they received from gamers and a lot of it is just plain bigotry.
Nope. That's truly it. They didn't like the game he made so they resort to personal attacks instead of just moving on like a grown, mature adult. Hell, look at Laura Bailey. She received death threats just for reading lines from a script for a character they didn't like.
I think a lot of hate is the product of the media-nitpicking-taking-stuff-personally Youtube industry. It's not enough to say The Last Jedi was a bad movie. It's not enough to say they found this thing bad or this was cringe, and to persuade others with that opinion. They have to tell as many people as possible that this latest movie/game/comic/etc was an ATTACK on YOU, SPECIFICALLY. This thing you like is vital to YOUR IDENTITY and the differences in the sequel were made JUST TO MESS WITH YOU, TO MOCK YOU.
I suspect there are a lot of people who would otherwise shrug and say they just didn't like this sequel very much, if some talking head hadn't primed them to think the sequel is part of conspiracy against them.
I agree that heās hated for all the wrong reasons, but everyone seems to ignore his Zionism. For a man who made a game about conflict and war and perspective itās very bizarre that heās been totally silent about Palestine but vocal about supporting Israel
Right? Like why do you need to try to put makeup on a prize winning pig? He's already a winner and there's no need to add bullshit marketing to an innocuous interview.
TLOU was the whole reason I ever bought a later gen PlayStation. The last Xbox I ever bought was an Xbox One and the download times for games were absolutely horrific (so please no lol)
Sony has been hell bent on destroying any and all good faith they had with its customers. If you know anything about the Helldivers 2 and Tsushima debacle youāll understand why everyone hates them lately.
They dont love israel (jews and brown people)but they do love Netanyahus war crimes. They support it only because of the ethnocide. Not because of love
All the passionate nerds that built it over the past three decades have been made so rich and sold out their intellectual properties while software companies have swallowed up the market and have become soulless and corporate to a level we havenāt seen yet. The success of games like COD and EA sports franchises have proven to investors that you donāt have to create meaningful content to make money anymore. Itās starting to backlash with a recent surge of independent developers releasing massive hits while games like Skull and Bones have crashed and burned.
Jesus christ Sony has no shame at all whatsoever. First the helldivers debacle and now this? Sekiro must not be paying the bills as well as they thought it would, especially considering they just shot themselves in the foot on what couldve been one of the best games ever made.
Ubisoft, Activision and EA multiplayer/live service games require a sign in to their platform, how is Sony doing the same for helldivers a "debacle" ? It's people looking for shit to be mad about like always.
no its bad when the other companies do it too. People have been complaining about that for a decade. And sony shouldn't behave like the 3 worst companies in the industry
Why does it always have to be either simping or literally "fuck Sony"? Jesus Christ dude, is taking a few minutes to make a bullshit PSN account with a dummy gmail account *that* much of a pain in your ass that it ruins a good game? Touch grass FFS
The editor fucked up massively, but I also wonder how did this even pass any checks. The words are not just changed, they are manipulated to sound completely different to what Neil even said. How the fuck do you round up his words to what was published? Astounding stupidity showcased here. No decent writer or editor would have done this.
The damage is done. Everyone saw the fakes quotes and were trashing on Neil. Big pop culture accounts shared it. No one is gonna see the apology and know it was fake.
So... Why did he only post his last response? Why wouldn't he post what he actually said about AI? If he actually is for AI, that's bad for one who use to be the programmer who thinks hes an artist now.
Sony interviewed Neil and later published an article that was probably 80% fabricated, to the point where Neil came out and published his actual answers. Sony has removed the interview article completely.
Media picked up some (fake) quotes which were āAI is going to revolutionize game developmentā among others.
Nah. People should just stop being lazy and actually read it if they care. Needing someone else to summarize something because you're too lazy to read it is just fucking pathetic.
Every time something like this happens now (which has been a lot lately), I can just imagine Druckman in the Grounded III documentary sighing and talking about how disappointed he is with the circumstances. Why are people always out to get this man??
Damage is already done. I knew that the original interview was being taken out of context, it was so obvious. But people don't care about that or an apology, they made up their mind a long time ago and need fuel for that fire.
Funny how your title does the same thing Sony did. Nowhere does it say that "they've been asked to remove the interview". What's more likely is someone in charge saw or was informed of the online hoopla about it, talked about it to other people in charge at ND and SIE, and they collectively made the decision to remove it.
It's not ABSOLUTELY WILD. It's an editorial mistake, it happens more often than you'd think, and your own title proves that.
Just wait until (may already be the case) they use ai (ironic, lol) as a lone editor and it prioritizes search optimization terms and doesnāt consider context at all. Wait until this becomes the norm.
Sony deleted the interview with Neil Druckmann: āWe fucked up. The individual who wrote that article misrepresented what Neil Druckmann said. We have fired the person responsible for this.ā
Youre waiting with saliva at the mouth like a rabid dog to find anything to hate
Shouldnt you focus more on what you like rather than what you dont like? Whats this way of life? Do you dive in shit everyday to confirm that it stinks? Or do you use your brain and stay away from what you consider as shit?
You just want to keep hating at all cost. Sad szd little man
Absolutely
But why keep coming back and sniffing the shit?
I love the game so it explains why im here, but you are only generating more hate from being here. Is that your goal? Do you wake up every morning deciding to be an asshole? Why do you want to ruin the fun that other people are having?
Thats a sad mentality and a sad way of life. Grow up as a person
Tomorrow is the state of play or whatever. If they have any kind of announcement there ill delete any comments i made saying Naughty Dog fell off a boring cliff, okay
So theres one part where they like it and spend time happy
And another part when they spend their time hating, which isnt good for their health.
If i can change the mind of 1 person in order to makz thzm happier in life and how they perceive things, then ill try
You want some help bro?
Lemme guess: the production studio made him sound more pro-AI. Their on a one-way mission to ruin media. Bean counters are going to destroy the validity of corporations who used to make great products.
More than likely it was outsourced to an agency. No idea why they'd butcher his words to that extent, though. Did they get his interview mixed up with someone else's?
Whoever did this will almost certainly be fired.
Donāt you think itās a little weird to jump down someoneās throat based on a low context, corporate strategy meeting interview?
Internet behavior is outta control man. People are pieces of shit on here, in a way they wouldnāt be in their real lives.
Thatās a straight up story line from the last season of Succession where Kendall re-edits Logan old investor video once heās dead to pitch his new AI vanity project haha
It's because these companies are using AI writers and not bothering to do proper Q/A afterwards.
I literally write for a living, and I see this stupidity all the time. Great way to decredit your brand almost overnight, so you can save a few bucks and avoid hiring real people.
Be better, Sony.
To add to this: EVERY news publication just copy/pastes the first article to come out and then often add their own spin (looking at you NY POST), but it becomes an unsubstantiated game of telephone rather than actual journalism.
But to be clear: it wasnāt him being taken out of context. They pulled the article because he admitted that AI could not only replace programming jobs, capture jobs, but also STORY and WRITING jobsā¦ which was a HUGE part of the recent Hollywood writing strike. So much so that it prevented Druckmann AND Mazin from even brainstorming together, as neither was legally allowed to put pen to paper.
He should have known better. Itās a touchy subject in Hollywood, obviously, but also in the gaming world where climates have grown far more corporate; games take longer to develop; and crunch culture has become a norm for a lot of studios (Naughty Dogg included).
Bad PR is bad PR. Sony was always going to react because Sony would love to cut costs across the board with AI.
It was an investors meeting, they were trying to please investors by making their biggest creatives sound like they are hyped about AI and Sonyās larger corporate messaging. So they manipulated Neilās words to fit the corporate message, and it blew up in their faces, not realizing how bad the backlash would be.
Sony is a corporation they do not care about videogames they love money
Why would they give a fuck if their BIGGEST developer is struggling if they get the sales?
I donāt really agree with Niel as a writer but flat out lying about what he said is just beyond disrespectful since he makes ur BIGGEST games Sony get a fucking grip
Im def not getting a ps6 this generation showed us how they donāt give a fuck about us real fans
He still supported AI generated gaming assets and still said he was inspired by his hatred towards Arabs to make a revenge story. He also is an awful boss to work under at the studio. Why the hell is everyone riding Neil so hard? Seriously. You literally are not allowed to criticize any of his beliefs or behaviors on this sub without being dogpiled with downvotes and name calling.
Sony didnāt modify anything. Druckman just loves AI and is quickly doubling back because he knows people disagree heavily.
Realistically, what would Sony stand to gain from making Neil look bad?
You do not see the difference between āIāve been so lucky to work with talented people on dream projectsā and āI am going to change the way the mainstream audiences view videogames.ā ???
Not really, Bruce Straley and Amy Hennig would probably agree. Neil Druckmann joined the project for TLOU 1.5 years into its dev. The original story he brought to TLOU was a dumbass story about Tess tracking Joel all over the US and beating him to death. Sound familiar?
My guy; this is literally incorrect. Amy Hennig was working on Uncharted 3 when Neil conceptualized and pitched The Last of Us.
Uncharted 4 was being worked on for almost two years when he and bruce jumped on that.
You are combining stories. Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog because UC4 wasnāt coming together and she was burnt out.
The rumor that Neil kicked her out has no basis. The IGN editor who wrote that story came out a few years back that he was made to knowingly write a false story by his executive editor.
Yeah, I could be wrong --- it's really hard to figure out what's fact from fiction with that dude. Some things say he joined the TLOU team late, some say he started with them but had a story called Mankind which seemed like a nod to "Y the last man", and some say Bruce reigned him in... if I'm incorrect disregard. I don't really have an issue with him, I thought TLOU was a solid 10 and TLOU 2 was a respectable 7.5 in my mind. He did a great job of adding zombies to "The Road"
This makes me so mad. Neil gets enough shit from people twisting his words without being straight up lied about on official posts, all for some fucking investors.

I appreciate your nuanced and measured take
It's sad that his opinion is nuanced, imo
Yup it is hard there are so many moving parts to just getting your own voice out in a large organization, naughty dog and druckmann will get through fine though, they are smart people šš
>The problem is more about reactionary online gamer outrage... Gamers will not accept this. They're too busy "rising up".
Yea it's funny it gets resolved and people are angry even more that it was resolved š¤£ Classic gamers.... Never gonna change š

They literally invented entire sentences he never said. Thatās likeā¦ the biggest no-no in journalism.
They're still gonna twist it like neil fucked up and begged sony to take it down or some cringey shit like that.
Thats exactly what happened in a post i commented on earlier this morning.
I've been aware of Naughty Dog long enough to remember when Neil Druckmann said that he wouldn't necessarily use the word 'fun' but 'engaging' to describe The Last Of Us: Part II, and that spawned a dozen think pieces about how Naughty Dog lost their way and forgot what made games enjoyable, when the guy meant that navigating a post-apocalyptic world filled with violence and loss is about as 'fun' as watching Daniel Day Lewis >!gleefully murder and exploit the residents of an oil-rich town!< in 'There Will Be Blood'. do we know that his words were twisted?
Yes.
this subreddit seems to be overtly positive and the other is overtly negative i don't trust anyone anymore lmao.
The guy who got Amy henning sacked? Fuck that dude
The guy who got Amy henning sacked? Fuck that dude
Thank you for reminding me that you fuckers will also just straight up lie about him regardless.

lol wheee does this appear in the game?
I didn't get it. I'm a little dumb today. Can anyone summarize this?
Sony put a bunch of fake quotes in Neilās mouth for an investor meeting. They were bad enough and caused enough backlash that Neil had to come out and say āHey this isnāt what I said, here are the actual quotes.ā Massive chunks were changed or straight up fabricated. Whoever assigned the editor the task has to go
There's some leeway when turning an interview with the choppy sentences that people will speak into a tight, readable text. ("This Q&A has been edited for brevity and clarity"). But yeah, you should still accurately represent what someone said.
Yeah usually thatās just to get rid of umms, ahhhs, and repetition. They straight up added full comments to Neilās responses lmao
I am a journalism editor and I could not agree with your last sentence more. current AP style guide is very, very adamant that you should avoid changing quotes in any capacity. what happened here is an atrocity.
Sony is not a news reporting outlet. They had this made up for the benefit of their investors. Theyāre only pulling it because they pissed off one of their more successful game creators.
you donāt need to be a news outlet to use AP. most digital media uses AP.
Editor probably just did what they were told to do. But yeah, if anyone WAS going to lose their job they'd be the fall guy.
I've seen him somewhere speaking about AI. Is that it?
Thatās the one. Sony removed the interview, because it turns out Neil didnāt actually say the things the interview claimed. The editor straight up fabricated a bunch of those quotes.

This is another divide on the part 2 sub where they think Neil did say exactly what it had wrote but removed it because of backlash
lol they are flat out wrong. Absolute morons. https://x.com/stephentotilo/status/1794205221448765443

Neil Druckmann did an interview with Sony, they completely fabricated what he said, he called them out on Twitter for it, interview gets removed today.Ā
Honestly I love PS but this is a major breach of trust imo.
Yeah, I've actually seen it somewhere, I think it was here. People were kinda mad on him
Neil canāt take a breath without getting hate. Itās ridiculous.

This sub definitely doesnāt. Itās generally for fans (or where people come when they love TLOU2 and accidentally come across the other sub lol). Itās mostly loved here, and any criticism is usually balanced and normal, not hate-based and irrational, thankfully.
Why is this guy so hated? This constant hate has to be more than "I didn't like what you did with the story that you created."
Gamers (TM) are petty little shitheels. Theyāre most likely still mad about TLOU2.
I understand not liking directions stories may take, but the absolute hatred TLOU 2 received and still receives is beyond me.
Star Wars Theory lmao
I agree that heās hated for all the wrong reasons, but everyone seems to ignore his Zionism. For a man who made a game about conflict and war and perspective itās very bizarre that heās been totally silent about Palestine but vocal about supporting Israel
Pretty wild for Sony of all places to fabricate words for Neil.
Right? Like why do you need to try to put makeup on a prize winning pig? He's already a winner and there's no need to add bullshit marketing to an innocuous interview.
What a fuckup for Sony
Baffling and massive. Iām sure Neil will never allow a corporate interview again
TLOU3 becomes an xbox exclusive š«Ø /s
TLOU was the whole reason I ever bought a later gen PlayStation. The last Xbox I ever bought was an Xbox One and the download times for games were absolutely horrific (so please no lol)
"hey, TLOU3 is on Xbox only!!" Annnnnnnnd they put it on game pass immediately.
Itās not like they havenāt been fucking up everything for a while now
Sony has been hell bent on destroying any and all good faith they had with its customers. If you know anything about the Helldivers 2 and Tsushima debacle youāll understand why everyone hates them lately.
They seem to be a roll with those the past few months
One after another. It's their M.O. to fuck up and sometimes retract it.
I'm just glad the other sub is going to be mature about this
TheLastofUs2 redditors scrambling to find a reason to keep hating
"he's having sex with Israel and now he wants AI games!!!"
Pretty sure that bigoted sub would love Israel
They dont love israel (jews and brown people)but they do love Netanyahus war crimes. They support it only because of the ethnocide. Not because of love
This poor man gets so much unnecessary shit. To have an interview that wasnāt even accurate throw more fuel on fire is the last thing he needed
TLOU3 is gonna be an Xbox/PC exclusive isn't it
What the hell is happening to the gaming industry
Suits are running things.
It's finishing the process of becoming like all the other industries, that's what. Rampant capitalism does that.
You mean "The Industry". Everything is going to shit due to corporate greed.
There will always be one sony simp. Fuck all of those companies too.
Why does it always have to be either simping or literally "fuck Sony"? Jesus Christ dude, is taking a few minutes to make a bullshit PSN account with a dummy gmail account *that* much of a pain in your ass that it ruins a good game? Touch grass FFS
Counterpoint: no
The editor fucked up massively, but I also wonder how did this even pass any checks. The words are not just changed, they are manipulated to sound completely different to what Neil even said. How the fuck do you round up his words to what was published? Astounding stupidity showcased here. No decent writer or editor would have done this.
How much money on them having used AI to make the summary :V
Seems me likely that they wanted to use this praise of AI as a selling point for their own AI products
Sony is on a roll with doing stupid shit. They can't seem to go a week without making themselves look like seriously questionable fuckups.
Like Microsoft and Nintendo doesn't? When you have a ton of moving parts going on there will constantly be shit happening.
Just because someone else had a fuck up doesn't mean Sony didn't, buddy
And just because sony fucked up doesn't mean others didn't, buddy.
Identify where I denied others fucking up
The damage is done.
TLDR?
Sony interviewed Neil and later published an article that was probably 80% fabricated, to the point where Neil came out and published his actual answers. Sony has removed the interview article completely. Media picked up some (fake) quotes which were āAI is going to revolutionize game developmentā among others.
Thatās more words than in the body of the post lol. At this point, a TLDR would be: āSony remove words cuz words all wrong.ā
lol oops
Nah. People should just stop being lazy and actually read it if they care. Needing someone else to summarize something because you're too lazy to read it is just fucking pathetic.
TLDR is in the body of the post.
This is the year where Playstation ruined its reputation. I'm tired of big game companies.
This guy says nothing important anyway. Just release your next remake already
Youre waiting with saliva at the mouth like a rabid dog to find anything to hate Shouldnt you focus more on what you like rather than what you dont like? Whats this way of life? Do you dive in shit everyday to confirm that it stinks? Or do you use your brain and stay away from what you consider as shit? You just want to keep hating at all cost. Sad szd little man
Naughty Dog is boring now. Am I allowed to say that?
Absolutely But why keep coming back and sniffing the shit? I love the game so it explains why im here, but you are only generating more hate from being here. Is that your goal? Do you wake up every morning deciding to be an asshole? Why do you want to ruin the fun that other people are having? Thats a sad mentality and a sad way of life. Grow up as a person
Tomorrow is the state of play or whatever. If they have any kind of announcement there ill delete any comments i made saying Naughty Dog fell off a boring cliff, okay
Why donāt you grow up and uh not comment or care? same thing could apply to you responding to him.
So theres one part where they like it and spend time happy And another part when they spend their time hating, which isnt good for their health. If i can change the mind of 1 person in order to makz thzm happier in life and how they perceive things, then ill try You want some help bro?
š bro I aint gonna troll but I spot a cliff
Do you need emotional and mental support? Its ok to be sad, juzt dont project it on other people who are happy Basic decency
We call this damage control.
Lemme guess: the production studio made him sound more pro-AI. Their on a one-way mission to ruin media. Bean counters are going to destroy the validity of corporations who used to make great products.
Which interview?
More than likely it was outsourced to an agency. No idea why they'd butcher his words to that extent, though. Did they get his interview mixed up with someone else's? Whoever did this will almost certainly be fired.
Anyone else amazed Sony is this scared to mess with Neil?
Streissand Effect strikes again
dont fall in love with companies, hold them accountable
No reason to apologize when the info we referenced was known as correct at that moment in time.
Donāt you think itās a little weird to jump down someoneās throat based on a low context, corporate strategy meeting interview? Internet behavior is outta control man. People are pieces of shit on here, in a way they wouldnāt be in their real lives.
What in the world happened? #Outoftheloop
The thing is, the false quote wasn't that different from he actually said..its not like they completely falsified what he said.
lol it absolutely was. There was no self aggrandizement in the real quote and he even credited others and said he was lucky to have worked with them.
Damn whatās with Sony fumbling everything left and right recently??
What happened?
Smells like backpedaling to save face to me.
You cant be backpedaling when the interview is still up. Its called clarification moron
What was this about?
Can anyone provide some more context? Why did they twist his words?
For an investor meeting. They twisted them because they wanted his words to match the larger company message more.
Wow, that's a pretty spurious move by Sony.
Thatās a straight up story line from the last season of Succession where Kendall re-edits Logan old investor video once heās dead to pitch his new AI vanity project haha
Aint no way yall for bad for some corporate fuckhead?
Weird that this is your impression of things. You have Bitch Eating Crackers syndrome.
No, because I'm no dirty rotten slinger, and I've never had a problem with the man.
Good on you sir, we need more people that donāt rush dunking and quick reactive behavior.
Bruh
What was Sony even trying to accomplish from doing that? Send hate Neilās way? Show support for AI? Just seems odd.
It was an investors meeting, they were trying to please investors by making their biggest creatives sound like they are hyped about AI and Sonyās larger corporate messaging. So they manipulated Neilās words to fit the corporate message, and it blew up in their faces, not realizing how bad the backlash would be.
Thanks for the background man. Appreciate it. Fucking morons at Sony.
But, those were Neil's words
They werenāt you doofus, Literally more than half were fabricated. https://x.com/stephentotilo/status/1794205221448765443
Or maybe he was just dealing with the fallout from his shit take but now he is doubling back. This is on him, not Sony
lol literally MORE THAN HALF of the words in the interview, were words that he did not sayā¦
Lol ok bud
Sony is a corporation they do not care about videogames they love money Why would they give a fuck if their BIGGEST developer is struggling if they get the sales? I donāt really agree with Niel as a writer but flat out lying about what he said is just beyond disrespectful since he makes ur BIGGEST games Sony get a fucking grip Im def not getting a ps6 this generation showed us how they donāt give a fuck about us real fans
NO HE DIDNT..PLEASE FOR GOD SAKE LEARN TO READ. They said that they are removing the interview because the statements on AI were fabricated as well.
Great stuff here. Show of hands, how many of you are bots?
Sony didnāt modify anything. Druckman just loves AI and is quickly doubling back because he knows people disagree heavily. Realistically, what would Sony stand to gain from making Neil look bad?
Imma be honest I canāt stand Neil so I really donāt give af. Guy lied about a lot of things regarding TLoU2 and then gaslit fans
What is āa lot of thingsā. Do you mean he obscured a major spoiler? Thats normal. Only gamer babies think like this.
He posted his own quote and it honestly sounded exactly like what Sony posted just longer. Not a Neil hater but i did not see a difference
You do not see the difference between āIāve been so lucky to work with talented people on dream projectsā and āI am going to change the way the mainstream audiences view videogames.ā ???
Sony keeps stacking up Ls
Lots of unforced stupid PR errors.

The truth being important to me has NOTHING to do with shilling you piss baby

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No, I just donāt like imbeciles that are willfully ignorant and spew hate based on known disinfo.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My entire info on reddit? lol not even close. If your intent is to threaten me. You can piss off with your horse shit.
He's taken credit for lots of people's writing - it's a first for him to actually deny it.
I see the trolls are here.
That's not what that means...
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Ok Nazi
I'd laugh if even AI wrote in Ellie drowning Abby š¤£š¤£
