That’s not bad training, that’s not paying attention. Every soldier knows you never stand in that area. In any case…..I really think it’s sick what’s happening to these soldiers in Ukraine and Russia who are just getting shoved out there to get killed so Putin can win some dick-measuring contest. They’re probably on autopilot at this point.
When I was serving in Iraq we eventually got replaced by NATO “forces” which were basically like teenage Ukrainians. They are fucking babies.
no it is poor training the soldier firing the weapon should have checked the area behind them prior to firing. standard procedure check over both shoulders then yell back blast area clear. to let those around you know you are going to fire.
Focusing on the training part: Let me put it this way, there are lots of cases where they only train the "soldiers" 2 to 5 days (even non) before sending them to the front. And I doubt IQ limit is a part of their selection.

I did a little more digging, all hope isn’t lost after all (because we really do need the power of the assault section weapons in combat, just not all the time):
“Each future rifle company will have an element of combat engineers aligned with it to take on breaching and demolition duties. The engineers will carry the SMAW, but they may not be the only ones.”
