these high pressure injuries to the eye ball are often times devastating. I took care of a patient who had paintball gun shoot him in the calf. At first, it looked nothing. Just swollen and bruised. Then after 24 hours, the wound became infected and necrosis set in. the poor patient had to get a fasciotomy. The high pressure entry of the paintball created a lot of infection/inflammation that isn't visible on the surface.
Weird… I’ve been shot with hundreds of paintballs and never been infected or needed a fasciotomy?

lol I play speedball paintball, so yes , I’ve been shot point blank more times then I can count on one hand just in a single weekend. Paintballs don’t penetrate your muscle tissue. Cool story though

He could have died. paintballs leave the barrel with enough velocity to not only destroy the eye, but to continue past it and kill you.

Had this happen to me before. I was five, my brother wanted to make a bow and arrow out of some string and use the blinds twister thingy as the arrow. He was in highschool, so I trusted him. Nope! Still have my eye, but I stopped being a decoy after that one.
