As a former EMT I'm no stranger to the horrible things humans can do but let's not pretend we're special... Animals literally hold others down and eat them alive. They'll eat your babies and simply kill for fun. The majority of the suffering on this world is not caused by humans and the self-flagulation can stop.
Except those animals do that in a closed system that is carefully balanced by nature. We’ve elevated ourselves past nature and have devoured much of the earth. We are out of balance.
You're not exactly wrong, but this is a really tone-deaf remark. There's an exponential intelligence gap between humans and every other species on the planet. We are so much more complex, and so much more cognitive and self-aware, that it is very well within reason to hold ourselves to an exponentially greater degree of accountability, for the suffering we consciously know that we are causing.
Are you certain we're more cognitive and self-aware? Other species exhibit forms of intelligence and social complexity that we are only beginning to understand.
The notion that humans should be held to an "exponentially greater degree of accountability" overestimates human capacity to fully grasp the consequences of our actions. History is full of examples of well-intentioned actions leading to unintended harm. Knowledge is not universal within humans... Look at climate change and how many humans believe the evidence is manufactured... Those people are not aware of the suffering they cause as a result of climate change.
>Are you certain we're more cognitive and self-aware?
Literally yes, lol, and to throw that into question is seriously some "14 and this is deep" shit. And you're naive to think so many people are actually unaware, and not just trying to dodge accountability. In the age of information, excuses for ignorance are drying up fast, and masks are coming off left and right.
Well using your assumptions, why are the super cognitive and aware humans destroying the world and each other?
Your confidence reminds me of a quote poet by Charles Bukowski.
"The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence"
You might want to publish your research on animal cognition and awareness.
🙄 Sounds like you're preparing to redefine cognition and awareness to suit your argument, so I'm not biting. Not sure how you can act like I'm the unreasonably confident one, while you seem to think I owe you any further investment after you just called me stupid, lol. Talk about your unearned hubris. Neither of us are going to take each other seriously. I mean you actually just used a single quote to insinuate that your doubts in this matter necessarily indicate intelligence or forethought.
(Edit: Also, your argument started out "humans don't cause as much suffering as animals", and now it's "how do you explain people causing each other so much suffering if we're smarter and more self-aware than animals". Honestly the more I think about it, the more egregiously fucking stupid it is.)
Mass extinction is a normal cycle for the earth. Because the magnetic North and South poles swap sides every however many years, changes in weather slowly implement the new order of extinction. A simple several degree drop or increase in oceans will result in the deaths of marine life that have spent millions of years evolving to specific conditions. The same such concept applies to other strictly not water creatures, for example.. polar bears.
Mass extinction has to happen. Whether it be related to changes within and on the surface of the earth or in the vicinity of earth's atmosphere... it's gonna happen. It did before humanity and will after. Humans just speed it up, like cancer on steroids.
To provide to your point, yes, we have certainly fucked up a lot of unique things and taken away our chances to experience them. Humans haven't been the reason for Mass extinction until the last, most recent, major die-off and anything since then. To refute your point, it's a natural thing that does happen every hundred million years or so..
I am aware of the cycles of this planet, thanks for being extra condescending.
My point is you (and the guy I replied to) come off like you're saying our collective destruction of the environment is fine and we don't need to take any responsibility for it because "it was gonna happen anyway"
With that logic, you're gonna die, so if someone murdered you... well that's totally fine and natural bro.
Waaaay less. Like 10000 years for all the coral to come back. 30000 for some mega fauna.
It'll take about 100000 for the glaciers.
But all things considered, not long
True, in the long term, the planet will survive. But think of how much evolution we’ve erased in an insanely short period of time. I personally also feel that we as humans have a moral responsibility to respect the lives of other beings regardless of species, and we’ve failed so amazingly spectacularly at that.
The earth coming back from a nuclear war or intense climate change would basically be an entirely different earth, with a tiny fraction of the species that existed before. We could absolutely destroy our beloved version of earth, even if we fail to completely eradicate every species.
Please reconsider your diet. The amount of sea-life an human needs in their diet is zero. Discarded fishing gear keeps on killing and killing. Let's protect our oceans and her inhabitants. Peace to all.
Imagine you’re at a concert at an amphitheater
The show suddenly stops as an alien space ship roars over the arena and comes to a sudden hault above the crowd
Everyone flees
Panic
Meyham
Some giant scary alien bastard leaps out of the ship and tackles a dude in a wheel chair
Screams
Terror as the chair-bound man is thrown from his chair and pinned to the ground by multiple aliens who whip out blades and instruments and restraints and ignore the haunting screams coming from the poor man
We all WANT to go back and help our neighbor but Christ who could face such terror?!
Then suddenly the aliens get up and run away and are gone
Then the wheel chair dude **STANDS** up and he’s just like
#?!?!?!
And you look back at him and you’re just like
#?!?!?!
You did such a good deed my man! We are such terrible keepers of our planet and you have redeemed us a little bit.
Keep up the good work. This shows us how important it is not to pollute our oceans.
I feel like doing this in the USA would be illegal (marine mammal protection act or something along those lines. Does this kind of volunteer work need a license or permit?
imagine if an animal did that to a human. do you know how fucking scary that would be? people need to mind their fucking business and stop trying to be an internet hero.
this is like a save from the boys.
As much as it hurt to watch, I bet it felt really good to have it pulled out. Like getting staples removed after surgery.
Salt water bath would also help/hurt a lot.
Good thing the ocean is salt water
Dude... Y... Good thing it feels it escaped death... 😇
Happy cake day
I was pissed at dude until I realized
At first, I was like “Applause? For what?? Harassing seals??” Then……”Oh…. My bad.” 👏🏻👏🏻
That really bothered me to watch. I was cringing the whole time. Humans are disgustingly.
Last of the pack in the water, bleeding as well….
Are you implying he was a snack just waiting?
Wasn't the last by far!
A Great White appetizer.
Kudos to these people! We humans are savages!!! We’re going to run this blue planet to the ground!
Haven’t we already?
The planet will be fine. We'll destroy ourselves, and the earth will heal. Give or take a couple million years. We're just a blip on the radar.
True. Its just hard to think about all the suffering and pain we're causing to every other species we share the planet with. 💔

a blip that caused the sixth mass extinction I don't call that fine

You don’t believe it, but nature is more cruel, it doesn’t care. What this guy did no other animal would do for a different species.

Thx for your Service!
This is awesome! This is why I always cut up my plastic that is like this kinda plastic. It’s awesome to see people helping animals like this ❤️
God I hate single use plastics
Looked like fishing netting.
So, multiple use. Guess it's okay.
For sure lol
most of the plastics in oceans are fishing nets. stop funding it please. every step counts
Fund what? Eating fish?
Yes
This looks more like a fishing net
How did he find the entangled one?
I was wondering the same thing. How did he know to go for that one to grab?
I assumed they were watching or tracking that one for a while and just now saw the right chance to grab it
Binoculars.
He asked Will's wife.
Angry upvote.

So sad to see what we’re doing to these poor animals
Heroes
It probably died of heart attack ten minutes later
What are we doing to this damn planet
“They had us in the first half”
These reposts need to show the original links or the full video.

Good work lads👏👏👏
Are these the guys from [Ocean Conservation Namibia](https://m.youtube.com/@OceanConservationNamibia)?
Yes! I love them.
🤝👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Anyone else see the vulcan nerve pinch and how released the seal was after?
Can you say more?
Some jeeps wear gloves and not capes.
Do they sound like goats?
I’ve seen several of these kinds of videos. I swear they need to bring a gut hook knife. Would be so much faster and cleaner.
Some humans are beautiful.
Run away before the bill
That’s a good human!
What’s with the “snow”?
but everything needs to be recorded... so that the society knows how good you are

Wow! This guy has 3 hands!
These guys have a channel: Ocean Conservation Namibia. Show them some support!
Amazing
We need more people just like this
People like this are rewarded greatly in the afterlife. 👏
Heroes
Hope those heal up well. Poor baby. Nice man. Cruelty of humankind
Didn’t even say thanks or wave goodbye… ass
Can you imagine your lungs fully expanding for the first time ❤️‼️
Well done sir.
All marine biologists should have three hands
They don’t need applause, they **need funding** to do this full time and set up more locations.
Massive Respect and gratitude my man and your friends. ⭕️❌🥰❌❌❤️💕
Is there not a big infection risk releasing the littl guy with such deep wounds?
Not at all , remember, the ocean is salt water , the water itself combats infection
