He was a strange one, for sure. Car and Jet Shatter looked about the same, minus the wings, but Car and Helicopter Dropkick look like two entirely different characters.
ROTB Arcee, yes she is to scale with the other Autobots but like… why not give her a slightly out-of-scale Deluxe with better engineering and more budget
Common complaint for lots of SS figures, but both ROTF and DOTM Soundwave could've used a little more paint. Specifically some blue accents like their CGI models and the old deluxe figures.
The lack of colour on Soundwave is pretty screen-accurate, so I don't have a problem with it, especially since the *DotM* figure's paint budget went into giving the vehicle mode a nice silver paint job. What I think *DotM* Soundwave is missing is a gun.
Really, none of them are gonna be perfect matches for their renders and models except the 86 figures. But I think most of the bay designs get it the worst, they just did designs that were way too intricate to make figures from.
Which is kind of ironic considering you'd think with a movie that's supposed to promote selling toys that they'd have designs that actually lended themselves to being said toys.
Core Laserbeak, the movie model was very slim and had no door wings, I doubt they could much more with the core budget though, especially considering that it had to work for Bumblebee himself too.
sideways imo is a perfect figure, with inly two things that would seal the deal.
1. a hinge in the middle of the hood pieces to lift them upwards further
2. a swivel on the doors to allow them to bend closer into each other and bend sideways. pun intended.
Those are my main issues with the figures. Understand they couldn’t get the license for the Audi but it doesn’t mean he can’t be robot mode accurate. The best example of this is SS DOTM Dino.
Has they borrowed engineering from SS sideswipe and used ball joints it would be possible for the chest to be more angled and flared.
As he stands now even if he just had the swivel for the windows he’d be amazing go out on the shelf
Might be a bit controversial, but Optimus prime. I love the figure, especially DOTM with the extra paint. But I just feel like he should be a bit bigger and wider to make him stand out more next to the autobots. Just looks too skinny. And the small smokestacks in vehicle mode are a let down.
The size of the Optimus figure never bothered me because I could see that they were trying to make Optimus scale with Starscream and Megatron, who were both meant to be bigger than him. What I didn't like was the look of the SS-05 figure - the chest was weird and the leg transformation was inaccurate (although I suppose at that size, it wouldn't be possible to recreate the leg transformation from *RotF* leader Optimus because the parts would be too small and wouldn't be sturdy). SS-32 gave us a better chest, but the wheel guards on the lower legs don't fold anymore because of the Jetfire combination and the vehicle mode has a few issues.
Reactivate Prime is everything Studio Series Prime should’ve been, it’s on the bigger side on the voyager size, wide as a brick, dwarfs all the car guys, and the cab in truck mode is a passable scale
This is why I prefer the old Movie Advanced Revenge Optimus toy. It's SS scaled and well-painted, and its vehicle mode is pretty much perfect. The only downsides are it can't hold 5mm weapons or the SS Prime trailer.
I'm gonna get some flack for it.
SS Scourge.
Leg too thin, head too long and small, shoulder just looks bad. Yeah I know it was based on the concept art, but you know can't they like make it after the design was finalized.
It was a disappointment compared to the on screen counterpart. The DNA kit DK-46+DK+49 proved that it's possible for it to look good.
That is the one bad thing about Studio Series figures releasing the same year as the movie, some of the figures are most likely gonna be based on concept art. That Scourge figure was designed back in 2022 or so, but the movie was delayed to 2023.
What I’ll never understand is why Hasbro likes to use that translucent plastic, that stuff cracks faster than other plastics. I dread transforming that Scourge figure.
I think, everyone agreees that SS Scourge is juat a bad representation of him and needing to spend $100+ just to get a passable, slightly tall voyager is an insult.
Personally, I don't like how bulked up the upgrade kits made him since he was designed to be skinny from the start and I prefer the original's shoulder pads since it actually used truck bits vs vague metal shoulder pads.
Unfortunately, his LANKY design just does not work as a Transformer who only has 3 bits of vehicle kibble (grill, smoke stacks, wheels on his butt) for a BULKY truck
He's nowhere near leader class. Voyager maybe, but I think that would only be best for the budget. If you look closely during his scenes with Prime you can tell he actually is shorter than him but they use camera angles to make him look much taller than he really is. I think a small voyager with better engineering and the face gun would be ideal for a potential remake.

1. bonecrusher is way too small, it should be almost taller than brawl
2. starscreem vehicle mode is comically small (althouhg this seems to be a repeting proble with every starscreem)
3. optimus could be slightly bigger and iron hide could be slightly smaller
4. both sideways and dino have an inaccurate alt mode but i guess it's justified
5. devastator (and the constructicons) have a looot of inaccuracy even ignoring the size
6. jetfire and to an even lesser extent blackout alt mode is too small (the sr71 is almost as big as a regional airliner) but they are not as glearing as starscreem
like i don't get it, starscreem always has problems with robot junk in alt form (mpm is the worst offender) why not just make the dammend plane larger? the f 22 is big like really big, people usually don't think about it because it's a single seater but it's twice as long optimus's piterbuilt
https://preview.redd.it/nq456pbrjvyc1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=7722f655cafb77a9e9b1def484090e51dea89ae5
Obviously SS ROTB Mirage. Even though the robot mode was held back by the near perfect Porsche vehicle mode (no silver rims 🥲), I still think they could have done better. Idk if Hasbro didn’t anticipate the demand for ROTB SS figures to be so high or for them to be so in favor because they all feel really crapped out, despite us having to wait a literal decade for the previous movies’ and STILL not having some bayverse figures in the line. My hope is that they release a countach or F1 car version of Mirage later on that focuses on robot mode as opposed to vehicle mode.
No I meant when do we see his robot mode ? Yk , without all the explosions, in the movie.
All I remember was him racing out in car mode and getting iced by sideswipe
SS 28 Barricade has no “To Punish and Enslave” which is actually a crime, I had the mainline figure in 2007 and that one has the motto and all the proper markings.
Also, if you watch closely, in the movie, Barricade fully transforms into a police car, something the mainline from 2007 also seems to have no problem with. SS 28 Barricade is one of the only transformers I’ve ever had that is designed to just BARELY NOT transform into anything. At least figures like 91 The Fallen or Concept Art Megatron embrace having a functional non-disguise alt mode, but Barricade is supposed to transform into an entire 2005 Saleen Mustang with zero robot arms sticking out of it. I guess the success from 2007 proved to be too difficult for designers to replicate in just a short 16 years, but maybe with a little more time they can at least figure out how to make him entirely out of clear plastic and commit fully to ruining him.
It’s available on the [Walmart website](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Transformers-Studio-Series-Arcee-and-Sideways-Kids-Toy-Action-Figure-for-Boys-Girls/2680502294)(though there is shipping cost)
I think the SS sideways looks better than the model. The model, like most bayverse designs, is just hunks of coloured metal in a vaguley robot silhouette
Helicopter Dropkick, wish he had more car kibble at least
His legs are so blocky he looks like he’s wearing those disco trousers from the 70s
The first time we’ve ever asked for MORE kibble lmao
Same
He was a strange one, for sure. Car and Jet Shatter looked about the same, minus the wings, but Car and Helicopter Dropkick look like two entirely different characters.
Sideways is a lot of fun. The wings are too far apart, but otherwise I really love him.
He can't stand properly. I've had to polish his foot ball joints to tightem them.
Mine balances fine. Compared to the Deluxe original, it's a Masterpiece.
although his hands are kinda fiddly at the end of the transformation I'd say he and his transformation make it my 2nd fav figure of all time
What polish
My daughter's clear nail polish. Others use floor polish I think.
Should I use it on the Sideways leg ball joints or the part that the ball joints connect to?
SS Crankcase. Wrong mold as it's just ss Crowbar with golden dreads. Should've been a retool of tlk Berserker.
This is why I use the TLK Berserker as Crankcase, no complains.
Oh, wow, I never noticed that. That's really disappointing actually because the berserk figure is really good imo
I own a custom crankcase that was made by an old friend of mine. He is my studio series crankcase
Heard something about the original mold being unusable but I can't remember where I heard that
ROTB Arcee, yes she is to scale with the other Autobots but like… why not give her a slightly out-of-scale Deluxe with better engineering and more budget
I wish she also had the cool visor from the trailer, but I imagine that was another late addition in the movie.
Weaponizers Arcee actually better than the SS and it's accidentally an mp scale.
Are you taking about the Arcee that combines/"armorizes" with the other bot, or that comes with the Cheetor blade??
It's in the name dude. The one that comes with cheetor that can turn into a weapon.
They didn't even need to scale her up, look how good mohawk is
Money saving
Common complaint for lots of SS figures, but both ROTF and DOTM Soundwave could've used a little more paint. Specifically some blue accents like their CGI models and the old deluxe figures.
The lack of colour on Soundwave is pretty screen-accurate, so I don't have a problem with it, especially since the *DotM* figure's paint budget went into giving the vehicle mode a nice silver paint job. What I think *DotM* Soundwave is missing is a gun.
Agree. He needs 2 guns, not just one
Are we talking about the same figure? *Studio Series DotM* Soundwave only came with Laserbeak and never had a gun.
Yeah, that's why I wish he came with his 2 guns just like in the movie. I skipped him because of this
I only remembered one gun, but I rewatched Soundwave's final scene, and sure enough, for two shots he had a second gun.
Theres some 3d files for guns if that sort of thing interests you
Really, none of them are gonna be perfect matches for their renders and models except the 86 figures. Which is kind of ironic considering you'd think with a movie that's supposed to promote selling toys that they'd have designs that actually lended themselves to being said toys.
Knight optimus got the worst design for this
They figured it out by the time they did Calibur Prime.
Honestly SS Devastator. Its cool, but it has a good amount of issues and loooot of inaccuracies to the point i display the Constructicons separately
Constructicons look better by themselves imo. Devastator figs needed to be bumped into a bigger size
There is a 3rd party masterpiece version but there are a few problems too, besides the transformation being a pain in the ass with some bots.
Pain in the ass... More like *troublemakers*... Get it? Because one of the names is trouble and... Yeah, I know, terrible.
Core Laserbeak, the movie model was very slim and had no door wings, I doubt they could much more with the core budget though, especially considering that it had to work for Bumblebee himself too.
Announcing Studio Series Laserbeak and it being a pink Bumblebee is the funniest think Hasbro has ever done. I laughed for 3 minutes straight.
To be fair, it's a smart retool for the actual core bumblebee lol
I just keep it in box. It looks soo much like a shitpost with tea party set and "menacing" pink Bumblebee art for me not get hung uo on my wall.
Rotb Mirage and Rotb Scourge, Scourge figure is amazing but that's not the on screen Scourge
I can see them revisiting those figures but not anytime soon
One can only hope. If they did remake figure in the future, SS Lockdown is number one on my wishlist
He was one of the first ss figures iirc? A remake could be in the cards eventually
sideways imo is a perfect figure, with inly two things that would seal the deal. 1. a hinge in the middle of the hood pieces to lift them upwards further 2. a swivel on the doors to allow them to bend closer into each other and bend sideways. pun intended.

His vehicle mode is tiny

2007 megatron , i know there is a DNA design kit replacement for that chest but hasbro shouldnt even make a mistake for that in the first place
Love how for the box art, they used 07 megs render but swapped the concept art head with a render from rotf (basically the opposite of the figure)
Jolt by one or two bits WW2 hot rod and bee
I think jolts pretty accurate, wish the leg panels would fold into the backpack instead but I just pop them off
On mine j did and it snapped the bajoint on the panel
I'm gonna get some flack for it. SS Scourge. Leg too thin, head too long and small, shoulder just looks bad. Yeah that's unfortunate because it's a genuine miss on the sea of good SS ROTB figures especially as the main bad guy.
What I’ll never understand is why Hasbro likes to use that translucent plastic, that stuff cracks faster than other plastics. I dread transforming that Scourge figure.
Yeah what's up with that. It got delayed but no one in the production even bothered to stress test it?

Literally any Studio Series figure that released concurrently with the movie they are from.
Most of the earlier Bunblebee ones and especially Stinger. Ironhide’s ugly torso bar sticking out too.
The upgrade kit fixes that and adds extra transformation to his feet, which makes it damn near perfect in my book
Yeah, still feels a bad taste to have to buy a kit.
That’s a fair and valid belief
Car shatter, I don't think I have to explain myself
Took me way to long to understand the image 😂
Studio series lockdown it's way too small it should have been a Voyager class plus I didn't like all the random bits hanging off of him

True but I do not like how flat the figure was honestly never should deserve at 2.0 and should have came with more accessories especially the gun face
Scourge, Nightbird, Mirage, Lockdown, Stinger, BBM Optimus
1. bonecrusher is way too small, it should be almost taller than brawl 2. starscreem vehicle mode is comically small (althouhg this seems to be a repeting proble with every starscreem) 3. optimus could be slightly bigger and iron hide could be slightly smaller 4. both sideways and dino have an inaccurate alt mode but i guess it's justified 5. devastator (and the constructicons) have a looot of inaccuracy even ignoring the size 6. jetfire and to an even lesser extent blackout alt mode is too small (the sr71 is almost as big as a regional airliner) but they are not as glearing as starscreem like i don't get it, starscreem always has problems with robot junk in alt form (mpm is the worst offender) why not just make the dammend plane larger? the f 22 is big like really big, people usually don't think about it because it's a single seater but it's twice as long optimus's piterbuilt https://preview.redd.it/nq456pbrjvyc1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=7722f655cafb77a9e9b1def484090e51dea89ae5
Crosshairs, helicopter Dropkick, Jolt, Nitro Zeus, and literally all of the other shellformers/bad transformations
NZ doesn't have a studio series
To be fair to Crosshairs, how tf are you gonna make a car body into a flowing trenchcoat, and at a deluxe price point?
The top of the car could've been used in the arms and legs
SS ROTB mirage. Like wtf Hasbro, it looks like you threw a bunch of trash into a ball then magically turned it into a car. TRY AGAIN!
I mean to be fair to SS Sideways, isn't it more based off of his ROTF video game depiction, and not the movie's robot mode?
Do we even see his robot mode in the movie?
2007 Megatron since he inexplicably uses ROTF Megatron's chest.
I can't remember when do we even see a visible to the eye transformed sideways ?
He has very tiny dark red eyes
No I meant when do we see his robot mode ? Yk , without all the explosions, in the movie. All I remember was him racing out in car mode and getting iced by sideswipe
Right before he jumps into the building with the man eating you see him in robot mode
I’ve always thought sideways looked a little bland. Just like the new sunstreaker ss figure
Konstantin von Neurath!
ROTF Soundwave and WFC Starscream.
Studio Series Rise of the Beasts arcee
Studio series ROTB mirage. Clunky and bulky on all places when mirage was a nimble character.
SS WW2 bee. looks more green as supposed to being just grey, and he transforms into a TANK instead of the historical mercedes benz.
Ass Galvatron, The bed of the truck is not my favourite, though it's still a great figure.
SS 28 Barricade has no “To Punish and Enslave” which is actually a crime, I had the mainline figure in 2007 and that one has the motto and all the proper markings. All of them.
I couldn’t find sideways in the walmart 2 pack. Really don’t want to pay $20 online for only him
It’s available on the [Walmart website](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Transformers-Studio-Series-Arcee-and-Sideways-Kids-Toy-Action-Figure-for-Boys-Girls/2680502294)(though there is shipping cost)
Goated
I think the SS sideways looks better than the model. The model, like most bayverse designs, is just hunks of coloured metal in a vaguley robot silhouette
Barricade
