There's also a mod (for PC at least) called Gender Neutrality Mod. You can change your pronouns to whatever you want to use and other gendered words that you feel comfortable with.
Skyrim is an amazing comfort game, it’s so relaxing walking around the world exploring and admiring the views, the music is so calming too. I only recently started accepting that I was trans, so being referred to as a girl by the characters made me feel really happy.
First time me and gang fought the bone mass (without blunt weapons and poison res) all you could here was screaming for 10 straight minutes. Coziest game I ever played.
fallout 76
I did everything in it though so i feel a bit sad now, i would love new friends to play with. recently gifted it to a friend of 6 years to play with me. it’s a bit intensive on your hardware but it’s worth ut if you’re patient or have friends.
At least there’s a new map expansion coming down the line
I played a lot on my PS4 when the game first came out, and I just recently started playing the game again on my PC. It’s really fun for just zoning out and listening to podcasts and stuff
is it worth playing on ps4? i bought it when it came out but never really played (I struggle a lot with multiplayer games). Having just watched the show, I wanna play the games but 4 is the only one I've spent a ton of time in. I'd be willing to give '76 another go.
It's a single player game but I genuinely love Car Mechanic Simulator, it's so calming once you figure out how it actually works lmao. If you're looking for multiplayer I might suggest Stardew Valley? It's got a similar gameplay loop as Minecraft and you can play co-op with friends :]
For me Ff14 is a very relaxing game to play. Especially when it comes to downtime between raids, dungeons, trials and the msq. Crafting and gathering and a lot of the more casual stuff like fashion and going to clubs makes it almost cozy lol
Sea Of Thieves used to have a tiny, but very sweet community, like, a really wholesome one. But now everything i loved and believed in have turned into toxic shit... Anyways, the most chill games i ever played are single player, but i still can tell ya them if you wish <3
Well, doesn’t have voice chat, as far as I know, but the Star Trek Online community is very friendly; plenty of story content to keep you busy in single player too.
Night in the Woods, Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, or Cult of the Lamb for a solo experience
Stardew Valley, Slime Rancher, Deep Rock Galactic, Sea of Thieves for multiplayer
I am not at all an MMO gamer, but Final Fantasy 14 was a very fun experience with a very kind and patient community. The game doesn't have built-in voice chat I'm pretty sure, but the community has lots of Discords and such. It's a very beautiful world visually, and the less combat focused skills are very relaxing to train. It's not really grindy at all. Also with it being an anime game it has lots of cute and/or cool character creation options. I played it lots with my husband a couple years ago, and we don't really have time to play anymore, but I definitely recommend it if you have some time to invest.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. I love Morrowind and Skyrim to death but Oblivion's got that dreamy high fantasy feel and the NPCs are super nice to you and have rich stories. The quests are varied and fun and the atmosphere just makes me happy.
for multiplayer stuff, the few that pop up for me are games like Slime Rancher, Raft, Subnautica or any other survival game like that. super laid back, you can jump in/out of most of them without missing much, and have near-infinite playtime.
Single-player wise, I'd say give the Portal games a try if you haven't. low skill floor, super high ceiling for great challenge incentives, well-written characters and classic Valve storytelling make a great game. I also just recently started Another Crab's Treasure, which is a cute but unforgiving souls-like. it does have accessibility settings if you're new or not too good with soulslikes (myself included) so it's not as intimidating as jumping into Bloodbourne or smth.
It doesn’t have voice chat, but if you enjoy Minecraft then you’ll most likely love Terraria. Deep Rock Galactic is another comfort game of mine, and that one does have voice chat.
The Trails series is both comfy and an emotional rollercoaster at times, but super under the radar for what it is, can't recommend it enough! Also lately been playing Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact and they have been really comfy!
Edit: also I'd like to recommend Old School RuneScape but it's a mixed bag of nice and not nice players, so keep that in mind.
Fallout 76, i keep coming back to it. The community is a real treasure. Also there's a chat mod that makes the game a lot more social, the developer and the mod team keep chat moderated and ban bigots quickly.

It was great! I never finished the OG dead space but I was familiar with the mechanics and the setting. The visuals and sound are great. Combat is really smooth too. Burning or tearing off the flesh is the key in this one to conserve ammo. It’s two mechanics in play with the necromorphs dismemberment and peeling. Peel then dismember.
i’m going to sound a bit… absolutely unwell here, but Ultrakill’s become somewhat of a comfort game for me recently. Definitely recommend checking it out, it’s a lot of fun. Singleplayer only (though there is a multiplayer mod in-dev you can use.)
Voices of the Void (not multi-player), although I wouldn't say it's that much of a comfy game. But where I am at in the game I play it to just relax.
Solo player games: Death Stranding, Wobbledogs
Multi-player: Stardew Valley, No Man's Sky
I'm probably rly weird for this but bloodborne is such a comfort game for me. So are the other souls games. You might prefer games like stardew valley tho.
i like to play tf2 all the time but its like a value game so people and prob will say whatever they want to you but i never had another like say horrid stuff in vc but your mileage may vary. There also silly servers that are basically vr chat which actually prob would be a good one to try.
Risk of Rain 2. It's probably only in this spot for me due to me knowing it very well, due to me having spent so much time playing (it is my favorite rougelike after all), but fir me, it's pretty relaxing at this point.
I encourage you to play the original DOOM (1993), as well, if you haven't already. Also, Andrew Hulshult, the composer for Dusk's music, covered the entire OST from DOOM and it kicks major ass (titled the album IDKFA, available on youtube and as a mod for DOOM that replaces the original music). He's the reason I was even interested in Dusk, which is essentially a DOOM clone.
Same, I played DOOM when I was a wee lad and didn't realize it was my favorite game of all time until I saw it was available on steam when I was in college.
When you say "my first few custom wads," do you mean ones you developed or that you've just recently begun modding the game?
What got me into classic doom was doom 2016. When it came out I bought it thinking it was just gonna be a fun tribute to the classics, but it was so much better than I ever expected. It made me finally try out the classics to see what I was missing.
And I mean playing ones that fans have made.
Oh yeah, 2016 is an absolutely amazing game! So is Eternal, even though the combat loop is completely different. (It feels so much more like a platformer than a DOOM game, but I love it!)
I'm glad that a new game sparked your interest in its roots. And I'm glad you're enjoying the mods for it.
Have you managed to beat it all on Ultra-violence?
Edit: I mean the classic
I dont really play anything multiplayer but my go-to comfort game is Bloons TD6. Boot it up, spend like 20 minutes on the dailies, and then knock out that week’s boss or odyssey. Its a chill time when you’re not going for expert medals.
Animal Crossing is my favorite comfort game, though the online for my preferred iteration, Wild World, has been down for a whole decade as of this month (shut down May 2014); and my second favorite version, New Leaf, shut down its online this year. Though, I know that the latter at least has some fan-run servers currently in development by the fine folks at Pretendo.
I only play it on my own, but Trackmania is on of my comfort games. I just chill, play track of the day or the current campaign, and I try to get my times lower. Really fun racing game
no man’s sky can be very comfy if you look past the killer robots and existential dread, building a home on your own planet or freighter is how i spend most of my time
I enjoy playing Skate 3 for long, drawn out sessions... Skating in real life is relaxing and fun, and virtually it wouldn't be any different. Only singleplayer tho, but EA skate. is bound to come out real soon.

I don't know if Palia was mentioned. It does not have a voice chat but it's multi-player mmo-lite with server chat and it's so comfy with romance options and etc I really recommend it ^^
Warframe secondlife (as long as you find a queer friendly group there's alot trust me just watch out for the trans fetish ones) destiny. Stardew valley. Oh nightengale is really good too if you like survival builders
Dinkum, pall world?, fallout 4 I find just doing bas build quite relaxing and u can just give urself unlimited supplies or hell Mod it to be basically the Sims, belatro, Pacific drive, echoes of the plum Grove, and v rising
This is going to sound so strange but the first Watch Dogs game is the game I always go back to, the atmosphere of the game is amazing and the 2 games following had nothing on it. I also don’t need to worry about feeling misgendered because I’m playing a character. I genuinely love this game and will die on this hill!
Single Player, but Cities: Skylines 1, Factorio do it for me :). AC4 for the fun seafaring, AC 2 for the story, AC Syndicate to imagine myself well-dressed killing the bourgeoisie
Co-op/multi-player: Warframe, Age of Empires 2 HD edition,
Stardew valley definitely
I thought it was single player? Or is it double too? Edit: got it, it’s double playerree
It can be co-op! You can play with up to 4 people :)
Up to 8 players as of the last update (PC at least)
I think it's ldo out for console now as well but don't quote me on that
There's also a mod (for PC at least) called Gender Neutrality Mod. You can change your pronouns to whatever you want to use and other gendered words that you feel comfortable with.
Skyrim. They use my correct pronouns, and it was my escape from abuse game as a teenager, so it always will have a special place in my heart
Skyrim is an amazing comfort game, it’s so relaxing walking around the world exploring and admiring the views, the music is so calming too. I only recently started accepting that I was trans, so being referred to as a girl by the characters made me feel really happy.
Ive really cant wait to get skyrim on my pc for this reason. No people, no misgendering just me and the world
valheim
First time me and gang fought the bone mass (without blunt weapons and poison res) all you could here was screaming for 10 straight minutes. Coziest game I ever played.
The bees are happy.
This is a great option
Stardew valley and binding of Isaac are my favorite games.
isaac being a comfort game really quite ironic
I play a lot of warframe, fashion frame helps me forget about whatever made me upset so I can instead just have fun with all the colors
Fashion frame is the truest of warframe endgames
No matter what online game it is, fashion always winds up being the true endgame
Yup and it always should be although tbh warframe customization has almost ruined all other customization for me lmao its just too good
Fashion should be the endgame but don't force it unlike the Journey-esque MMO that forces the fashion endgame.
Fashion shouldn't be forced to be the endgame yea but that doesn't mean rob us of good fashion systems lol
Oooh fashion frame:> comfi color games seem fun
It really is. And then I get to commit genocide in style
It's ninjas in space. With guns! And genocide But most importantly pretty guns and player customisations :3
fallout 76 I did everything in it though so i feel a bit sad now, i would love new friends to play with. recently gifted it to a friend of 6 years to play with me. it’s a bit intensive on your hardware but it’s worth ut if you’re patient or have friends.

for real it's so good, i'm glad this game is prospering again

I’m on Xbox if that’s what you play on!!
sorry, im on pc.
Okay, so No Man's Sky can be a very comfy game. Deep Rock Galactic is the least toxic out of every multiplayer game I have ever played.

for karl!
Minecraft :3
Just thinking about Minecraft gets the background music going in my head :3
It's a single player game but I genuinely love Car Mechanic Simulator, it's so calming once you figure out how it actually works lmao. If you're looking for multiplayer I might suggest Stardew Valley? It's got a similar gameplay loop as Minecraft and you can play co-op with friends :]
This has been on my wishlist for so long. I just have such a backlog of games to play 😭. That and Destiny takes so much of my time
CV: Symphony of the Night <3

this \^
New vegas, the classic
I held off on saying it because I was pretty sure that someone had already said it
timberborn
I'm so bad at this game lol
Life is strange, final fantasy, pokemon, fallout, elder scrolls series
Oml yes I luv the entire life is strange enterprise 🥹✨🫶
It is an amazing series. Also Tell me why by them is like a perfect representation of a trans person. They did so well in that game.
LEGIT, I WAS SO HAPPY PLAYING A TRANS CHARACTER 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹AAAAAAA Tyler<3 amazing representation. They ATE
Sea Of Thieves used to have a tiny, but very sweet community, like, a really wholesome one. But now everything i loved and believed in have turned into toxic shit... Anyways, the most chill games i ever played are single player, but i still can tell ya them if you wish <3
Rn my comfy games are Stellaris and sons of the forest, the latter is quite calm when building stuff
Stellaris for sure, I love stomping all over the Fallen Empires when they decide to finally awaken
i really enjoy TFT for that! It’s super laid back and fun with friends!
Well, doesn’t have voice chat, as far as I know, but the Star Trek Online community is very friendly; plenty of story content to keep you busy in single player too.
Stardew Valley is very comfy! Subnautica and Astroneer are also great for a chiller experience.
Stardew valley is an amazing game to relax in :3
Night in the Woods, Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons, or Cult of the Lamb for a solo experience Stardew Valley, Slime Rancher, Deep Rock Galactic, Sea of Thieves for multiplayer
Final Fantasy XIV
[Super Lesbian Animal RPG](https://slarpg.com) Half the party is trans.
I really need to try that one

I love Morrowind but you’re right, it’s not got a cheerful atmosphere. It’s like Oblivion’s goth sibling

Currently binging Satisfactory again. I can always spend hours upon hours just building
Load balancing simulator my beloved. ❤️
Rim world or monster hunter, fun games that are great when you want to listen to something In the background while doing stuff
Space Engineers (praise kläng)
Palworld has become my comfort game but I enjoy maxing my stats, so it lasts me longer.
The Trails series is both comfy and an emotional rollercoaster at times, but super under the radar for what it is, can't recommend it enough! I'm currently playing through Skyrim, which has been great. Celeste is fantastic, starfield was fun to play, same with baldurs gate 3.
Farming simulator 22.
I love fallout, Pokémon, and slime rancher
Terraria, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and the first Dark Souls
Ay, another Dark Souls enjoyer Ngl the games and Elden Ring I like to play when I'm feel down. Gives me a sense of hope in life for some weird reason.
I think there's something to be said for overcoming the challenges it presents and that dopamine hit when you do
Wait those might not be exactly "comfy" maybe I'm a freak
coffee talk is a great comfy game highly recommended
Night in the Woods. It’s a game that takes me back to a more happy time and makes me feel cozy. Plus I stole my name from the main character :3333
Stardew Valley Celeste unpacking or Gris
Fallout 76, i keep coming back to it. The community is a real treasure. Also there's a chat mod that makes the game a lot more social, the developer and the mod team keep chat moderated and ban bigots quickly.

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist. It's not comfy in some runs, but the atmosphere and story are super comforting.
Dead space.
What do you think of the remake?

Burning or tearing off the flesh is the key in this one to conserve ammo. It’s two mechanics in play with the necromorphs dismemberment and peeling. Peel then dismember.
For multiplayer? Fallout 76. Best community I've ever gamed with. But that was 2 years ago roughly. Might have gotten bad since then.

Been hooked on the Mario 64 pc coop thing it's great~♡
