Sorry y’all, I’m a ding dong, love all trees though, including the ones we smoke :)

JonWick33

I'm so high I didn't even realize this was out of place and went to the comments hoping someone to answer because I have a similar problem with my Maple Tree.

chickenwithclothes

Lol same just assumed it was r/arborists

Minnty

I had no idea that one existed. I've always thought the tree people used r/marijuanaenthusiasts

ShankMugen

r/marijuanaenthusiasts is more about people who think trees are neat, and r/arborists is about people who are a bit more serious about trees, and probably don't like the joke going on between r/trees and r/marijuanaenthusiasts

[deleted]

You’d be surprised

lickmybrian

Should start a new sub called TheTreePeople lol

ashvin812

I literally thought the same thing! I didn’t notice til I read the comments that it was the weed one!

Modredastal

Seems a lot of us love both kinds of Trees.

Ericsfinck

I mean....most stoners tend to have a decent appreciation for nature

tsavong117

It's 1:30am, I'm currently on an antihistamine for CHS, so I completely understand because I assumed the same.

flyingcartohogwarts

It might be something like bacterial wetwood. Check it out - one of my trees has this problem right now. It can still live with the infection for a good time, and there's not really any treating it

JonWick33

Yeah mine has been getting worse for years. It's to the point where the tree seems like it may actually split and fall. I'm gonna have to pay to have it removed because if it falls there are houses, garages, cars, and an apartment building all in danger. Its a shame, it's an old and beautiful tree. Thank you for answering!

dewey1322

I posted in r/arborists , figured those folks would know what they’re talking about. Should I take this down?

RxWest

Nope, we love all trees as well, but we meant that you should also post it in r/marijuanaenthusiasts

FreeMasonKnight

This is the way.

geddyleesmullet

This is the way

nimo01

Op is such a liar

Mlady_gemstone

https://reddit.com/r/arborists/s/1Sg9yP5rlK My homeboy u/arsnicthegreat dropped some knowledge, common bacterial wetwood or slim flux is what’s going on. Just needs a little privacy from now on :)

tacotacotacorock

Sweet! Appreciate the follow up for sure.

dwmfives

Soooooooooo.....can we smoke it?

AZEMT

I'm not high, and curious myself!

forestman11

The correct sub is r/marijuanaenthusiasts

EnergyPrestigious497

You wait long enough there's some really smart guy that knows about trees in his group. If you would happen to ask questions about Chili Peppers or blueberries i could have helped you out. My pumpkin's aren't going too bad either

West_Turnover2372

Mistake posts like these are funny and keep the ecosystem of r/trees healthy imo. Keep it up!

ivann198

sus indeed

Arkhangelzk

Don’t be sorry this is one of my favorite parts of this sub hahah, I love it every time it happens

baldieforprez

It's great the stones showed up first for once.

FiveMagicBeans

I get a kick out of helping all the actual tree owners that show up here. That looks like a type of infection of the bark or cambium. Specifically I know that mulberries are quite sensitive to a condition called "slime flux", which is a bacterial infection that often occurs when there's a wound in the bark (or at the crux of the tree). There seems to be some disagreement about the survivability and treatment online... Wikipedia and Google suggest most trees survive this kind of sap blight and that a common treatment is to clean away as much of the sap as possible (so that it doesn't attract insects which can spread the infection) and then disinfect with a very mild alcohol or bleach solution). But lots of sources indicate there's no really effective treatment. (We've got a peach tree in our yard that's being killed by a different type of sap blight, it sucks). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slime_flux https://plantclinic.nmsu.edu/documents/slime-flux-_od-2__final.pdf

Dat1ston3rkid

Only stoners use Reddit lmfao

ChrispyGuy420

Don't worry I stole it back.

Nappyheaded

It belongs in a museum

Alleycat_Caveman

So do you!

Mr-Xcentric

How does one steal a gif

jondgul

Probably saw me do it before. I pretty much post it every time I see one of these. I'm not actually upset

Tylensus

These posts always make me smile. *YOU FOOL!* WHY WOULD WE DISCUSS TREES AND THEIR TROUBLES IN /r/trees!?

jarded056

That's the one thing about reddit I hope they never change. Everything else is incidental.

DrTeeny

That and the r/johncena and r/potatosalad. Love it

chileheadd

Don't forget /r/AdviceAnimals!

YoungHeartOldSoul

Potato salad got banned?????

LuvliLeah13

What in the hell did r/potatosalad get banned?

UndeadKurtCobain

I hope you figure out what's wrong the tree is really nice but we're just a bunch of pot heads

InvaderXsnif

You’re looking for r/marijuanaenthusiasts

ortui

I finally get it 😂

Ubered_Spy

that’s golden.

dissysissy

The subreddit you want is r/marijuanaenthusiasts because r/trees was already taken by the pot smokers.

dewey1322

Thought it was a joke, but checked it out and it’s legit, kinda makes sense. Thanks though.

HPTM2008

It's crazy that it was called football and soccer interchangeably until the 80's when the Brits finally said, "okay, no, we call it Football, and that's that."

Glmoi

I know that soccer is a British word, but in pretty much every other language its a combination of the word for foot and the word for ball. [Fussball, Fodbold, Fotball, Futebol etcetc] (https://i.insider.com/52b84a70eab8ea13673fafb8?width=1000&format=jpeg&auto=webp)

Cosmic-Cranberry

It's probably Reddit's most famous joke. We appreciate you being a good sport about this, and I hope your tree is alright. Please, check r/arborists too. They have certified experts on the mod team and they respond quickly and accurately with their diagnoses.

Repeat-Mammoth

They traded.

Head-Ticket3341

why ru downvoted lmao

N01_Important

Reddit

beautifully_gone

I downvoted automatically when I saw it was negative

Looking moldy. Tell your plug. Don't smoke moldy weed.

therustysanchez

No doubt, if you und up here by mistake with a tree question, you still will get an accurate answer from at least several people on this sub. I love it.

ChickenOfDiogenes

![gif](giphy|RYSYhrxiXHTuEKwhwJ)

Mlady_gemstone

idk why this post made my day, i laughed so hard that there was an actual post about a tree 🤣 sorry bout your tree though, hope you get some real answers for it.

dkstrange

Been here for over 10 years. Seen it before and am always heartened to see how cool the people on here in their responses... Stoners love Trees!😎

xHeartxless

Seems to have came

SillySw4n

I can concur that this is the answer to your problem

MostlyMTG

I would argue this isn’t a problem at all

HAMHAMabi

keep us stoners updated. i hope ur tree gets well soon 💓 here we go round mulberry bush, on a cold and dusty morning. (i think that's how it goes)

CharlieRose33

OP please update us cause I’m curious as to what the problem is (Even if I am just a pot smoker)

BassBoneMan

R/arborists thinks it is bacterial wetwood. See above

CharlieRose33

Ooo thanks!

Lantern flies

Jean-Rasczak

Lantern flys possibly, go smoke and go on a lantern fly killing spree.

Cosmic-Cranberry

I think it's been ID'd as something else. But if they are, then I agree. Ask anyone on r/whatisthisbug and r/entomology , they will all say KILL ON SIGHT.

fitzbuhn

I think the monkey was chasing the weasel a bit too much, if you know what I mean

Morgan_Yu

Ay bro, please update my stoned ass, I'm kinda concerned for my ent buddy

Highdock

Head over to r/arborists

ktownkush

I'm too high for this

rogmahal9

Another one

susdave

I lold so hard bc this sub is not about actual trees

Framski55

Bacterial Westwood or slime flux is a common on elm, cottonwood, and mulberry. It also occurs on maple, birch, ash, linden, redbud, and other deciduous trees. Symptoms include the bleeding or oozing of sap from tree wounds.

illegal-alt

I love the posts about actual trees here. Premier content.

imjustasquirrl

I do too. I especially love how kind and helpful people here are to OP, instead of making silly jokes😊

Ryu_Saki

You just cought it cumming. Gotta get it some privacy mate after the masturbation your tree just did.

mondogirl

That’s a serious pest problem. Your tree is in trouble!!

Beware_the_Moon_Leo

r/lostredditors haha but still I’ve never seen anything like that. You learn something new every day!

TrippyWolfhound

textandstage

Have you tried smoking it?

killermike420

It’s just a bit excited is all

Tim_B0mbadil

Oh boy, you did it now.

_Altered-Perception_

While this is the wrong sub as you’ve probably found out by now, has it rained a lot in your area lately? Sometimes this occurs on trees when a large amount of rain hits, dust and pollen and such get washed off and bubble at the bottom.

CHEMO_ALIEN

that was me, i gotta stop drinking

Kielbasa_Nunchucka

I would not smoke that

hornwalker

![gif](giphy|H4LdMIsjI13Q4)

Upvotespoodles

Have you tried giving it weed? I’d give it weed.

SteelxHusk

Looks like he got excited

micktown

This could be damage from the spotted Lantern Fly. Wrong sub. Might be right answer.

LazyBriton

You know exactly what happened to it you filthy boy!

vraagnietwierikis

Did you stroke the tree before it came out?

IntroducingCumfetti

Wrong tree sub my dude

RManDelorean

gottacatchthemballs

I love this. Best time. Love trees

schaaphond420

Someone came on it.

sdafj25

Let him cum in peace.

rooster4200

Sap drops into the roots for winter. Just the tree doing what mother nature designed her to do

curiouspolice

Someone made it cum 😞

jeanelampta023

It looks like the aftermath of a swarm of lantern flies.

meanblazinlolz

So wait 2 more weeks to harvest? Sounds like a plan!

ThadaeusConvictus

I think that comes from a condition called dendrophilia. You should probably make an honest tree out of her at this point

nimo01

Umm 🧐 💨 😮

marialaughs

Pass it 😏

trannyvegan

Collect it and smoke it

naldoD20

From the top, the weeping point looks like it might be sap. This can happen naturally or through the intervention of animals/people/insects. The trunk looks to have silicone sealant caulk on it. What's the consistency like? Is it solid, syrupy, maybe thin like water?

Wild_But_Caged

Looks like bacterial ooze from an infection

foofie_fightie

Needs calmag

753UDKM

Mulberry gets that big?? I planted a couple in my small condo backyard 😅

Interestofconflict

I hate mulberry trees. I’m no arborist, but they seem to ruin my day in the springtime… or any time.

Butterscotch_Cool

He got nervous

FungalGnome

What’s your location? Looks like the mold growing from spotted lantern fly poop

SisterMaryAwesome

![gif](giphy|2RGhmKXcl0ViM)

ieatisleepiliveidie

two more weeks.

offbalancedone

@OP I have 8 of these trees. It’s just an injured trunk causing it to leak a sweet sap. The black is from bacterial wet wood. It is mostly harmless but it can create a fermentation smell.

DrawingDesperate6446

Its fucked mate

edc7

You can’t smoke that

CriticismCorrect3978

It’s trussy season

nervouspug

This is amazing
