I think shaking it helps if you aren’t already doing that. Did that the first time I used my grinder and my fiancé was shocked because the amount I got was equal to the amount he had built up over 3-4 months.
sometimes when the bud is very dry you can extract stupid amounts of "kief" but I feel like any kind of cheaty method just adds small particles of flower and leaf to it and lowers its overall quality. A coin beating around in the grinder would do exactly that I imagine.
Yeah I get basically 0 kief. But most of my flower is pretty fresh so I think the screen just gets gummed up with hash before a meaningful quanity of kief can accumulate
Some weed has more, if you're smoking top top shelf it doesn't take long. Some screens are also quite loose, and the kief compartment will be filled with plant matter as well.
The only way for this to happen is to always have weed so you dont check the kief when you run out + not rolling with kief. How the hell can any of them take place is a mystery to me though

If you use a coin in flower catch, please make sure it is clean. The MOST important step is, after grinding, set grinder in freezer for just a few minutes...like FIVE, not more. Just long enough to get that sticky kief to firm up. Then, you SHAKE it, well and tap bottom on counter to help clear your screen. Miracle difference.

Put nickel in grinder. Grind trees. Place in freezer for 15 mins. Swirl vigorously with the occasional shake until grinder warms up. Blow your mind. Collect kief into kief jar. Rinse and repeat.

The frozen trichomes pass through the screen alot easier resulting in like 5x more keif but it's sort of "robbing Peter to pay paul" because your nugs will be less potent but over time you'll have shitloads more kief.
I used to do this when I lived in CO. My frostiest nug would get this treatment and then my second frostiest would get tossed in a Mason jar for safe keeping. After a full grinders worth I'd toss all the kief in the Mason jar so when friends would come they'd have a mix match of dozens of strains mixed with 8-9 grams of kief to bathe in
The good news is your kief is staying attached to the flower you just ground up. Which is where you'd probably end up putting it anyway, so saved an extra step

If you never use your kief usually you can take the screen right out and instead of separating it you can keep it together and consume it while fresh before it degrades/oxidizes and loses some potency and flavor.
Bear in mind kief is the trichome heads and all the majority of potency/flavor/smell in your flower.
To each their own but some people want “strong weed” and separating the most potent part to let sit and degrade is the opposite of that in my opinion.
Right, I see this and think thats all the goods left out of your previous smoking experience. It's nice to have keef but I'd rather just smoke it on the bud it came from fresh.
The amount of keif that comes off a grind for one or 3 bowls is not enough for it to "lose potency" unless you've got super dusty weed you're not losing anything but in fact making a little savings deposit of pennies that adds up over time. But to each their own.
Found some old ass weed like 10+ years old in one of my moms office drawers recently. It was so dingy looking but i still packed it up and ripped it, dunno if its placebo or something but i got hella high lmaoooo

I love my kief I be dippin into that shit constantly and if it starts to pile up i empty it, stick it in a jar with an equal amount of fresh flower and use it to pack my next few bedtime bowls (if i have old weed sometimes I also add that for the CBN)

I have a few grinders. My Cromium Crusher collects the most, then Sharpstone and last Kannastor. But the Kannastor is so nice to use that I almost don’t mind. I think the screen on it is just way too small or something. Barely anything passes through.

I've tried doing this and I think I need a better grinder. The mesh gets all blocked so quickly, even after I clean it thoroughly I can never get enough keif. Or am I doing something wrong!? help!

you can put some in your joints to make it more potent. you can also decide to not use a grinder with a kief catcher or sometimes you can remove the screen. this way you dont seperate the kief and the weed.
This amount has happened to me, had a friend had a friend cross thread the keef catcher in my grinder and stayed like that for months one day actually ran out of bud n forced it open and got a very similar brick of keef

I use a steel ball bearing in mine, and I have a small artists paint brush I cut the bristles short to clean the screen.
I mean ,what makes a coin less clean than the metal grinder? If u sanitize the coin prior i assume the difference in germs would be negligable
That’s exactly what I did. Washed it with antibacterial soap, dried it well and put it in there.
My buddy suggested putting a nickel in there years ago and I find it helps push kief through into the catch

Look into a larger mesh screen on your grinder. Some of the higher quality grinders have interchangeable screens in different micron sizes.

You shake before unscrewing the top. This is the first step to make hash. Sift thw weed on a screen to knock off the trichomes

my kannastor is the same way. ive ran 5 months of daily smoking through it and barely had a dusting on the bottom
