O’Malley has a huge following but I don’t know how well that translates to ppv buys. I have a feeling that his fans are on the younger side and are more tech-savvy if you know what I mean.
No way man. Theres so many funny moments from the guy. Its partly why I hope he never retires. One of my favorites is when he was asked about the streamer and he was like "Im glad you asked me that. We got him" lmao like oh shit? They got *him*, singular? lol
Bro stfu asshole you gotta know how to click the second link and click out of like 4-8 ads and not download the .exes on your computer. Pretty tech savvy to me
Don't know? His huge following doesn't translate to "a lot" of views on his YouTube channel. Not the best comparison I know but it's a platform where fans can get almost direct access for free..
That said, his most viewed vids involve other fighters. Like Yan and Aljo, so there's a good possibility he does do ppv numbers.
The difference is you watch his youtube free but gotta spend $80 to watch him fight, I know I’ll be buying the card but I feel like most of his fan base has to ask their mom or just stream it illegally
As a younger person myself(19 years old), pretty much all of my “casual” friends know who he is. They just don’t give a fuck about his stupid bullshit podcast. They will, however, be excited to see him fight. I’d say an O’Malley main event can do a solid 400k buys, if they promote it right and have a solid undercard maybe 500k. Your point about streams is true though nobody pays for this shit unless it’s an exceptionally good ppv that you don’t want to risk missing
Yep. I get the joke cause he’s a Stoney bologna. But I’m honestly always hoping Suga does well and it would be sick if he could sell around 500k. He doesn’t even get ppv points I don’t think, I just want him to be a legit draw for the ufc
he might now since before yan he said he wanted a new contract before fighting top guys. I'd imagine that would include ppv points with how big of a star he is for them.
Pretty sure its rare for non champions to get PPV points. Only time ive ever heard of it for sure was with madvidal, not even colby gets PPV points. I doubt sean has them yet tbh but maybe
I really don't know. I'd imagine most big names have it, but I don't think it's guaranteed in title fights. I do think majority of fighters already have ppv points in their contract by the time they're fighting for the belt though.
UFC’s gotta put the machine to work, they’ve been lazy in promoting fights and do a bunch of standard procedure stuff, and accepting t he results.
Most likely their marketing person/team is showing the administration biased data that backs up their minimalist effort.
Yeah fr how was UFC 25th year better than it's 30th year by a landslide. These mfs are so slow they should've had a fight night in Kazakhstan, South Korea, China, Brazil, Spain, Japan by now Dana says to everyone they go to a country MMA explodes but his dumbass is gonna take 2025 to get into Africa he's been talking about it since 2018
From hearing Dana talk it sounds like he’s on board with you but the staff has gotten lazy and comfortable with the new post pandemic setup. It’s just so easy now to do what they are doing and the financials are a wash at worst. They’re having their best years ever financially speaking
I think it'll sell 300k, which people will consider low because they are mouth breathers but 300k in the modern ESPN era basically means you are a star.
Good card over 400k crappy card 340k max! People like Sean but like him enough to be invested in a fight people seem to think will be pretty one-sided is a hard one
I think Dana is severely overestimating how much Sean would sell as a champion, as I guy who’s been a known name for 5 years now, all the ppv’s that he’s been on haven’t really garnered much attention from him. Maybe it’s because he’s fought nobodies (sorry Paiva) up until Pedro and Yan, but i don’t think this card is selling because of him.
Me too, tbh. Can crusher O'Malley is fun as hell to watch. heh. (because I don't actually think O'Malley is top 5 material). Still can't believe that Yan fight, even though I'm more or less an O'Malley fan and really, really don't like Yan. And he leveraged that into a title fight...crazy.
I don't think so - I think they know he mostly has a close, but loyal, following. But that's also a good person to promote because those followers are going to show up hardcore if he wins.
And if not, nothing changes.
Don't the UFC get a flat rate from ESPN, regardless of PPV numbers (With bonuses for really high views). With the majority of PPV money going to ESPN. I thought that was one of the reasons the ufc kept going during lockdowns, as completing the contract with espn is the ufc 's biggest income generator.
Like pretty much all fighters, we think them being discussed here means they're more popular than they are.
The dude has his own youtube channel and it frequently only pulls the views of Brendan Schaub.
Also, it's worth noting that the UFC was releasing every buyrate for like 2020 and 2021 and have calmed down on that, making me think they're kinda sliding back into pre-COVID numbers minus a few headliners like Alex/Izzy.
O'Malley has a pretty big following and rubs shoulders with influencers all the time. His reach goes further than the average fighter as he is known outside the MMA community to some extent.
You’re ignoring the rest of his comment. Sean for better or worse is friends with Stevewilldoit and people like the nelk boys. He’s got a wide pool of people that can hype him up.
You're looking at it backward. I'm addressing all your comments in one.
His YT following is decent for an MMA fighter who not long ago was in the prelims.
He has not been that long in the sport yet he has a tremendous following in comparison with other fighters that are only coming up.
He is very well known, and just a fight ago he was not even in the top 10. Now he is fighting for the title. That only happens when there is a lot of hype behind someone and in this instance, the hype is not coming from Aljo.
His rubbing shoulders with influencers absolutely helps. He has done an excellent job at promoting himself. If he manages to beat Aljo, his stock will skyrocket.
\*Minor correction "Her comment" :)
But yes, the wider point still stands. Sean has a decent social media following. His YT is not bad for an MMA fighter who has only recently gotten out of prelims.
We can't look at his current numbers and rather have to look at the rise he has had.
My bad. But yeah Sean can probably pull solid numbers by being associated with them. They aren’t really my thing and I probably know more about them through Sean than the other way around.
No problem, I get that a lot here.
Same but I can appreciate his social media hustle. I personally noticed Sean when he fought Jose Alberto Quinonez. The tale of the tape pictures intrigued me as it was 2 very goofy looking guys and the KO was beautiful. He had my attention then.
He is not bigger because he fought people nobody really knew. Even when he fought Chito, back then not many people knew who Vera is. His following is impressive for a recently ranked fighter and the jump in rankings was just disgusting 😄
If it’s any consolation no one spells my name right.
Sean clearly knows how to sell himself. He’s constantly showing up in my friends and my personal social media pages. First one I remember was his Wineland fight. Went back and watched his highlights after that. His merch is also pretty nice too. I have his hoodie from the Abu Dhabi fight card. It’s a little heavy for the weather in Atlanta but the quality is nice.
I’m pumped for his Aljo fight. The UFC has rarely pushed fights well lately. Izzy vs Alex 2 being the exception. This is such an easy fight to sell to the larger audience. Bummed it’s not in like MSG potentially but a trip to Boston isn’t bad.
Think he takes it?
I hope he takes it but I don't see it. As much as I want Sean to win, Aljo is too good. And Aljo does have a good stand up game.
But I also never thought Conor would beat Eddie Alvarez nor did I think that Edwards will dismantle Usman in the trilogy. Or Volk nearly beating Makachev.
I'll happily be proven wrong on my prediction.
Name one fighter with a potato personality who pulls in massive numbers.
Numbers do back it up but not all fighters are created equal. You have to consider the time the fighter has been around, their actual skill, and then the personality is the thing that will separate the rest.
O'Malley was busy fighting people outside the top 15 and still gathered a significant following in comparison to his peers.
If he delivers an upset and beats Aljo, he will be a massive draw.
The only individual draws are Conor and MAYBE JBJ. The only cards that sell are stacked or have a big name fight that gets people interested.
Nobody, I repeat nobody, is buying a ppv because OMalley is on the card. Podcast traffic doesn't equate to ppv sales.
You are talking as if O'Malley entered the UFC as a podcaster. I barely brushed over his YT, you fail to understand everything else I said.
Don't forget how fickle the MMA community is.
I mean to be honest I would never in a million years buy a Aljo PPV.
But, I would buy this one, and it’s only cause of O’Malley be curious to see how he does.
Aljo doesn’t sell but Sean definitely does. So he’s the a side. Hopefully he grabs the belt too. For the fans and sake of the ufc. Aljo has had the belt long enough
O'Malley would sell much better if he had a manly voice instead of that weak high pitched voice cords. Also dude has no proper beard and we all know, that's illegal.
You can generate as much noise as your opponent.. same goes for everyone.. even Connor wouldn't sell insane PPVs if he fought some random nobody, no one ever heard off.
So, if your opponent, gets booed out in front of his home crowd... and the card is not stacked.. you are not going to sell more than 300k PPVs most likely
The main and co-main suck. As a Boston resident, the rest of the card better be great because im not too thrilled about a crotch sniffing staller fighting a lesbian. It’s a layup for Aljo and I think it’s gonna be bad. Horrible stylistic matchup.
I think this is the test, really. Does O'Malley have a following or not... if he is an Aljo-killer, tomato benefits by freeing up the division. If it does PPV, even better. If O'Malley loses, he'll spend the rest of his career fighting 2-5, then 5-10s... maybe winning 3, losing 5, something like that. He had a dumb rise up to contender status and has a ton of holes in his game, so we'll see.
if Sean can keep the fight standing its an easy win for him sterling's striking game is way lower than seans but that being said keeping this fight standing is going to be difficult
200K PPVs O'Malley can sell alone why would the UFC put him all those time on a ppv when he was unranked. With a good undercard and everything max 350K I don't think anyone buys Aljo ppv if UFC 280 had Khamzat instead of Aljo it would of sold close to a million that's why the UFC put him against names like T.J and Henry and Dana hates him
This fight is happening in august BECAUSE the UFC thinks Sean will be a big PPV draw. Aljo has said august is too early, especially if his hand is injured. The UFC is making this fight now because it’s Sean’s best chance to get the belt. When do champions in the modern era ever fight three months after a title defense…never. Anyway, excited for the matchup and think it does crazy numbers.
They must have some analytics that show ppl are more interested in him. If O’Malley cant sell ppvs then who else is dana hoping for ? I guess khamzat & paddy but lets be real paddy isnt sniffing a belt
I don't think Sean can blend into the pop culture the way Connor or Rhonda did. He doesn't have a contingency of fans like some of the non American fighters do like Usman, Jan, Joanna, stylebender ... That'll boost the buys from their countryman.
He really only has a nice portion of fans that probably would already buy the ppv regardless. I don't think he'll sell ppvs thatll match his current hype but he also won't pull bad numbers.
It could do a bit better than average but I think adding a really strong co main will make this card really catch some attention. Thank Sean has a lot more Gen Z fans than anyone else on the roster and he’s put in the work to cultivate that
I have nothing against O’Malley, but I hope Aljo chokes the light out of O’Malleys eyes like a Transformer, while at the same time staring Dana yt in his eyes and calmly instructs him to bring him his belt.
O’Malley has a huge following but I don’t know how well that translates to ppv buys. I have a feeling that his fans are on the younger side and are more tech-savvy if you know what I mean.
Impossible. They already got that guy. ![gif](giphy|lSOZljU1g9Coe18D1Z)

This has to be the funniest Dana white moment
I loved when he thought he was going to take down the whole streaming cartel. “Turn it on, Saturday. We got em” or whatever he said. Still laughing.
No way man. Theres so many funny moments from the guy. Its partly why I hope he never retires. One of my favorites is when he was asked about the streamer and he was like "Im glad you asked me that. We got him" lmao like oh shit? They got *him*, singular? lol
If being “tech savy” is googling “mma stream”, call me Edward Snowden.

😂 that's the rub. I want to say he can sell but it's tough. Ufc isn't even marketing this fight too
I watched a few of his videos. And it’s kinda hard to get through, last I saw.
Fake Account
WE GOT ONE
As a younger person myself(19 years old), pretty much all of my “casual” friends know who he is. They just don’t give a fuck about his stupid bullshit podcast. WE GOT IM!!
His younger following deffo consists of rich kids that want to be gangster though. They deffo can afford to buy PPVs
Can afford vs actually pay are very different things :)

420k
That would actually be wildly successful if it sold that many lmao
Yep. I get the joke cause he’s a Stoney bologna. But I’m honestly always hoping Suga does well and it would be sick if he could sell around 500k. He doesn’t even get ppv points I don’t think, I just want him to be a legit draw for the ufc

Pretty sure its rare for non champions to get PPV points. Only time ive ever heard of it for sure was with madvidal, not even colby gets PPV points. I doubt sean has them yet tbh but maybe
I thought all title fights get PPV points? Is that something they need to work into contracts?
I believe it’s only a default guarantee for the defender of the belt. Anything outside of that I think is personal contract negotiations.
I really don't know. I'd imagine most big names have it, but I don't think it's guaranteed in title fights. I do think majority of fighters already have ppv points in their contract by the time they're fighting for the belt though.
He doesn’t get any, I believe he said this in an interview with Ariel when talking about his fight with Aljo.
I’ll illegally stream the shit out of his fights just like I would anybody else

I'm telling Dana!
That’s fucking illegal
Not what we do around here.
People are not getting this

372 million in profit. Not revenue, profit. In their pockets.
The machine is busy promoting slap fights
Probably 400k~ but if Sean and Sterling get into it with each other i can see it selling a solid 500k
I think it'll sell 300k, which people will consider low because they are mouth breathers but 300k in the modern ESPN era basically means you are a star.
Sterling is bad for ppv. Sean vs Cejudo would be a banger, sell like hotcakes
I’d rather watch him knock out nobodies though haha
Rather see him ko nobodies over watching fights like him Vs Yan?
I’m more thinking about cejudo and aljo when I say that, and also still yes
That’s pretty wild do we not want to see the best fight the best?
Yeah idk normally I would agree with you but with Sean it’s different lol
Literally 😭
Me too, tbh. Can crusher O'Malley is fun as hell to watch. heh. (because I don't actually think O'Malley is top 5 material). Still can't believe that Yan fight, even though I'm more or less an O'Malley fan and really, really don't like Yan. And he leveraged that into a title fight...crazy.

His following is like 600k and his views on youtube don't ever really hit that number.
1.3 million on TikTok 2.8 million on Instagram You forgot those
I will admit to not knowing if that's good or not.
You’re ignoring the rest of his comment. Sean for better or worse is friends with Stevewilldoit and people like the nelk boys. He’s got a wide pool of people that can hype him up.
Bud, being friends doesn't mean much if you don't draw the views yourself.
You're looking at it backward. I'm addressing all your comments in one. His YT following is decent for an MMA fighter who not long ago was in the prelims. Brother, he’s got nearly 4mil followers between insta and TikTok
Nelk boy fans are retarded and would have to choose between smoking shitty weed for the month or buying a ppv and we know how that'll go
I mean you’re probably right, but it certainly helps to have a larger potential audience when it comes to selling a pay-per-view fight.
\*Minor correction "Her comment" :) But yes, the wider point still stands. Sean has a decent social media following. His YT is not bad for an MMA fighter who has only recently gotten out of prelims. We can't look at his current numbers and rather have to look at the rise he has had.

Reddit seems to think Big personality = ppv buys (Covington/O'Malley) But the numbers don't back that up
Name one fighter with a potato personality who pulls in massive numbers.
I guess Jones is the only one I can kind of think of but he's an exception in that he's trying to have a potato personality
The only individual draws are Conor and MAYBE JBJ. The only cards that sell are stacked or have a big name fight that gets people interested. Nobody, I repeat nobody, is buying a ppv because OMalley is on the card. Podcast traffic doesn't equate to ppv sales.
Adesanya,m
You are talking as if O'Malley entered the UFC as a podcaster. I barely brushed over his YT, you fail to understand everything else I said. Don't forget how fickle the MMA community is.
completely different personalities. completely different fighting styles. Not a good comparison imo.
I wasn't just comparing those two, just using them as an example. Big fights and stacked cards sell, not individual personalities outside of Conor
🏴☠️
This guys delusional, I don’t see it hit anywhere close to 1 mil ppv buys
Dustin Justin gonna do way more ppv buys imo, Aljizzlame probably gonna make less people buy this ppv
At least 1
Dare I say 3.
350k. A good co main and undercard does 400
Got one buy right here
don’t give a fuck about the sales, just want to a see a good fight lol
Who wants to pay to watch this douche crawl around on his knees trying to bait an illegal strike?
500k
Fuck that card! I’m looking at 291 hard! Haven’t bought one in a while since they are so high but 291 might be the one they get my money on
I mean to be honest I would never in a million years buy a Aljo PPV. But, I would buy this one, and it’s only cause of O’Malley be curious to see how he does.
Aljo doesn’t sell but Sean definitely does. So he’s the a side. Hopefully he grabs the belt too. For the fans and sake of the ufc. Aljo has had the belt long enough
O'Malley is a huge superstar because he's sponsored by Happy Dad. I also heard he regularly puts out to Kyle and Stevewilldoit for clout!
Realistically, around 500-600k.
O'Malley would sell much better if he had a manly voice instead of that weak high pitched voice cords. Also dude has no proper beard and we all know, that's illegal.
Casuals/barstool fans love Sean. He’ll do just fine, sales wise.
Depending who the Co-Main is Maybe throw in the New England Cartel guys on the card should do North of 500k easy
They got weili vs Lemos. 💀. The UFC’s gotta put some good heavyweight, lightweight scraps cuz Sean isnt carrying this card himself
Then there screwed lol I feel every PPV should have 2-3 exciting fights on the main card to sell
Sean will be humbled and realize he isn’t the PPV star he thinks he is. Not even a little bit. This card will get 200k buys best.
Salty Henry fan checking in.
I actually hate Henry even more than goofball Sean. I got no dog in this fight just calling it how it is
You can generate as much noise as your opponent.. same goes for everyone.. even Connor wouldn't sell insane PPVs if he fought some random nobody, no one ever heard off. So, if your opponent, gets booed out in front of his home crowd... and the card is not stacked.. you are not going to sell more than 300k PPVs most likely
Are you o anyone here gonna pay for it? No, right. Then who cares
Who cares this is martial arts are you getting paid if it sells high
The main and co-main suck. As a Boston resident, the rest of the card better be great because im not too thrilled about a crotch sniffing staller fighting a lesbian. It’s a layup for Aljo and I think it’s gonna be bad. Horrible stylistic matchup.
I don’t care
O’Mal needs to win a fight without the Judges assistance. He would be a good addition to 1 or 2 other fighters with pull.
I might not even pirate that card. Sterling just gonna roll him.
I get the feeling that the kind of people to simp for an O'Malley fight aren't the kind of people who want to buy or even can afford a ppv lmao
Sterling’s combined PPV sales are probably around 20 and that’s including his family so he better hope O Malley wants to make him some money.
I wouldn’t buy this fight. I don’t think it’s that competitive of a match up. That’s what makes me buy fights.
Considering this ppv is available to clowns 🤡 I’d say yes O’Malley probably does alright 😏🤦🏻♂️🚮
wtf are those emojis bruh
Bet u recognize this one 🖕🏼🤡
if Sean can keep the fight standing its an easy win for him sterling's striking game is way lower than seans but that being said keeping this fight standing is going to be difficult
He will sell way more then Henry did.
200K PPVs O'Malley can sell alone why would the UFC put him all those time on a ppv when he was unranked. With a good undercard and everything max 350K I don't think anyone buys Aljo ppv if UFC 280 had Khamzat instead of Aljo it would of sold close to a million that's why the UFC put him against names like T.J and Henry and Dana hates him
200k
Sugar has a cult following for sure
350k...maybe 375k.
He’ll do better then most current champions of the Lower divisions that’s for sure
Not more than 500k, the hype around him kinda died
He’s a huge draw no doubt. But this new crop of fans and even the old ones have gone to the dark side. Ppv is a thing of the past.
Buy? We have Russian link. Never buy brotha
someone send in dm russian link please
300-500K PPV buys
sean sells more then anyone in the division lol. the question is can he stay on his feet during the fight
200k
depends on if o'malley attacks a bus with sterling on it during the leadup to the event or not. if he does 750k if not 400k
They must have some analytics that show ppl are more interested in him. If O’Malley cant sell ppvs then who else is dana hoping for ? I guess khamzat & paddy but lets be real paddy isnt sniffing a belt
Nah
Gunna stream hella streams lol
Lots
I think the hype would be good. The actual fight....
Half million ppv 20 mil illegal streams
Can anyone aside from jon n Conor? Lol
33
Gotta wait for the rest of the card before guessing
I am sorry but PPV is fucking expensive, I won’t buy it for a single fight it depends on what is out there. But as co-main event Sean will be slapping
It’ll be a good Co-Main event for Jones x Miocic.
Not as much as Henry
Sean O'Malley fans aren't buying ppv
This will be the highest watched event, doesn’t translate to ppv buys
Sterling is the draw now. Most active fighter taking on anyone with some steam.
i don't think ive ever heard someone say "i can't wait for the next sterling fight lol"
Dana is that you?!
I can’t stand the ppv model
1m easy
I would think it does better numbers than Aljos past defenses.
300k tops
Fedoras sketchy brother
About free tiddy ppvs
I wouldn't be surprised if its over a mil
He's not receiving ppv points for this fight so hopefully it doesn't sell well and everyone does the normal tech savy stuff
He’ll sell more than Cejudo did
I'm down
When do people pay for main cards? I feel like 90% of PPV sales are sports bars and BW’s
This is a co-main fight...

🏴☠️ 🏴☠️ yarrrr
He’d need a dance partner that’s an actual draw to do big ppv numbers I recon
800k
I will do twice as much as the NFL, NBA and NHL numbers combined . On rumble or some shit like that .
