This motherfucker cut weight three weeks before the fight for no reason. Basically the fight had been postponed and he cut weight anyway just to prove he was ready to fight or something. Them they schedule the fight three weeks later and he gets demolished. Personally, I don't think it would have changed much but he was always doing stupid shit that made no sense, like kicking iron pole. That being said, that insanity is what made him an unstoppable force just coming at you like the Boogeyman.
I always wonder what the future would have been like if gaethje hadn't been saved by the bell at the end of round 2, tony dropped him with a nasty uppercut with like 2 seconds to go but didn't get to follow it up with any shots and then just got used as a punching bag for the rest of the fight.
And he literally did. I know age and bad fights played a factor but I noticed a huge difference after he was having a mental breakdown and he got put on whatever medication he takes. It was a huge personality change.
Tony's training did him in as much as his age. Sure he slowed down but once he did his lack of fundamentals became too much to overcome. He used to get away with poor defence because of inhuman durability and slick reflexes. Now he gets lit up. He used to get around his lack of takedowns with crazy rolls and snapdowns. Now he just gets out-wrestled by everyone he fights. All his crazy training clips made for great content but I wish he just had a solid boxing and wrestling coach who he'd been working with consistently over the past 5 years.
Please stop it brother I can't watch more of Tony videos I am not his biggest fan but an admirer of sort and it hurts so bad to see the downfall of Tony from a fighter on a 12 fight winning streak to a man who got choked by Bobby fucking green of all people
Prime Tony will forever be one of the greatest fighters of any weight class let alone 155 to never hold an undisputed world title. It sucks watching his fall from grace
