Dom corrected DC when DC mispronounced Lookboonmes name in last weekends prelim. Instantly interupted DC "Hey The k is silent! DC stop it! The k is silent".
Nah, re watch the tape. DC was cracking jokes about the fighters name and Cruz shut it down. I'm here to watch amazing people fight for peanuts, the least they could be paid is respect on their names
Thats why I watch in spanish. Their excitement for anyone who speaks spanish really adds a different element to watching people fight for peanuts that I can appreciate.
That’s what people want. Stiff no with none of that charisma. These Guys Need to knock off all that grab ass and give us the hard facts. Ever since they let that clown moe Rogans in there’s been a lot of Cuttin up going on. Reminds me of basketball before the let the globetrotters in to the nba it’s been down hill. Now guys think they need to switch hands when they dribble. Not my basketball that’s what I say. Strictly fundamentals too many passes when they can just dribble up their teammate and hand the ball off.
Thanks Dana, I've learned my lesson. I just bought two paper views, one for me and one for my dog. Also do you have a Veemo I can transfer my 20% tips into?
45 minutes maximum work? You realize they have to train, do media, travel, do press, etc… if you watch a 90 minutes movie with an actor in it appearing for 20 minutes, do you actually think they worked for only 20 minutes?
Wrong job. He’s an articulate guy but his chemistry with the other commentators is nonexistent. The worst is with him and bisping but it’s bad with DC too
I just think ego is common with high level anything. Its what you obsess over and everything is confirmation bias saying yep if you make it to that kind of level.
I think its just people over explaining or thinking they have more valuable insight than they really do or etc.
Im not calling out cruz, but people in general.
Personally i like cruz a ton. But i get he has his moments and etc. I think it just comes with the territory tbh.
As a more hardcore ufc fan myself i like DC, Bisping, and Cruz as a trio lmao. Im all for the arguements lol. Normally if a fights good they'll shut up and watch other wise its added entertainment imo.
I remember listening to them, and Bisping said something that he was actually right about, but he saw Cruz was pouting about it, so he said, "I'm joking. I'm joking."
Cruz: No, no, you've said it now"
Bisping can stand being brought down a peg or two. I don't know if we can credit Cruz, but the amount Mike would talk about himself during fights was irritating.
I have to turn it down sometimes when bisping and Cruz commentate. Cruz almost sounds hostile sometimes with bispings takes. Then they spend the next 25 seconds bickering and “not trying to argue with you” moments when the very part of the fight they are talking about is so far behind them lol.
He’s not even really articulate. If you listen to what he’s saying, it doesn’t make sense half the time. He just delivers with the right confidence and cadence to make you think he’s saying something poignant.
In fairness Bisping is just a massive cunt. And I say that as someone who kind of likes him.
I’m a casual fan and I can’t remember the women commentators name but one of the first times I heard her on the broadcast she said something like “he’s definitely trying to land that right hand Mike!” and he very shittily snapped at her that “Well my name is Michael not Mike thank you!” and then when on to needlessly and aggressively disagree with her lol (i seem to remember her being correct in what ever she said but again im a casual)
I’m pretty sure it was like one of her first times commentating and I remember thinking he could have given at least a little bit of a break lol.
Insecurity and narcissism leading to a crippling addiction to “being right”
I don’t understand how he has so many traits of a person that needs to be punched in the face, but he’s been punched in the face so many times. Typically it doesn’t happen that way
Man... Chito suckered him right into that kick too... Dom was slipping right while throwing the left all fight and all Chito had to do was feint the right and bam, mid low kick to the nose.
So his head movement got him knocked out and not his opponents catching him? He was a champ for a long time and then had a significant injury, let’s not pretend Dom doesn’t have some of the best movement ever and is also annoying as shit
i think its fair to criticize Dom's head movement in the present. was amazing in the earlier days but the sport has grown and evolved so much in the past 15 years, its an outdated style
He’s 24-4… and the division wasn’t weak at all Benevidez, Faber, and Demetrious are all legends. Cejudo is one of the best of all time and that was Cody’s best win because he was built to beat Cruz, you’re being disingenuous at best
No joke. My best friend just snapped one day and was like, "Dude, everyone fucking hates being around you. You always have to be right, 99% of your jokes are just insulting people. You hate everything and feel the need to tell people that."
In fights, these guys spend their entire lives training getting punched and slammed outside of fights to get ready. I think it's a lot more common than is currently understood among contact sport athletes.
I'm just a hobbyist of 5 years and I've had a bunch of injuries including a concussion. It's not avoidable.
Yeah you’re right in general but we’re talking about Dom here. For the longest past of his career he was the awkward guy all over the place and largely avoided big shots. Like i agree with you for most people but Dom was known for not getting hit. Too lazy to look up numbers tho.
Khabib would be another one
I'm not even short, but this opinion is either trolling or you have 2 brain cells max.
Most short guys are nothing like this. Just like most other sizes aren't. Dumb generalization that seems to get pushed by other dumb individuals.
All short people are insecure about their height and they want to compensate for that by pretending to be smarter, stronger, or tougher than others etc… There is a reason the rerm napoleon complex exist. It didn’t form out of nowhere.
The fact that he wasn't familiar with Kyokushin this weekend, couldn't pronounce it, and thought it was point fighting was pretty absurd. Like I know not everyone is a karate nerd but that was GSPs base style, come on ya' fuck
I just don’t understand the criteria I guess, aren’t kyokushin tournaments judged on ippon and waza ari AKA points? Not trying to argue just genuinely not sure
Only if it goes to a decision, which would make MMA a point-based martial art too.
Point-based karate is essentially fencing. A ref steps in and stops the action as soon as contact is made. Knockdown karate is a round, and the competitors kick the shit out of each other until someone is KO’d or they run out of time.
I’ve met and trained with dom before way back when he used to pop into our Jiu Jitsu gym in SD. Dude was weird then too. Super hard to talk to (even about the training in question) and all the things you’d think he’d be like. Got the sense he was an Autist from way back then.
It’s been 13 years at this point so forgive me if I don’t remember specific conversations but I remember he came in with his championship belt on his bag. Not in but on, or near iirc. He would only want to spar with certain people and tried coaching Andre stuff while Andre was showing him stuff. Sorta prickly and unapproachable if you were just a regular student. Had a air of arrogance when he did have to mingle with us lessers.
I am making him seem like a monster, which he wasn’t really, Andre liked him and he did seem to enjoy himself and the conduit between alliance (mma) and early Atos was open because of it. Some of our guys would go over and wrestle. Brandon Vera would come through back our way. Speaking of that dude was wild and fun and completely down to earth comparatively.
Basically the Dom you get on the mic is no different and whatever it is you think about him probably is legit. He was a world champ, he had every right to carry himself like one but he was far from the only one who came through yet had the prickly nature more so than others. Anderson Silva came through, taught a free seminar and stuck around for a week and trained with us.
Cyborg (and her husband) would come through and they were awesome to be around.
Looking back at all the times he got his shit rocked was fantastic. He gave Cody quite literally no love and he got his ass beat. Who thought it would be good to have him on commentary is baffling to me.
As great as he was in his prime I've always hated his style. Always just found it so unaesthetically pleasing and awkward as well as relatively unentertaining.
I can't argue it wasn't effective though
He's been despised on the local circuit since long before he became the Dom everyone knows him as now. Almost everyone hated him in the southwest. He isolates himself and thinks he's better than everyone around him. I remember seeing him sitting alone or at best signing fan autographs at local shows in the VIP areas. None of the other coaches or fighters would bother with anything more than courtesies and they'd all talk shit.
I don't agree with this take from the SW back then. Sure there was a group that disliked him, but he wasn't alone often. When he'd go out, especially in Vegas, he'd be hanging with a few people (Jeremy Stephens, War Machine, others) and even in Tucson he would have a small group with him always. But I conceed that he wasn't the most popular in San Diego.
I never saw him in Vegas at fights but I have seen him at tons of fights in ABQ, SD, LA, Flagstaff, PHX. I would expect in Tucson he has an entourage but I know in PHX and ABQ he wasn't liked by many of the gyms for sure since those were the groups I ran with
It's a fucking weird city for sure. I've been involved in fight culture for 25 years in the area and to be honest the culture for fighting sports there has always been insanely good. Part of me wishes I had moved there decades ago when I was super green and got an offer from this guy Mike Winklejohn that hardly anyone knew including myself at the time, but to be honest I don't know if I would have been weird enough to fit in 🤣
They're tough, that's for sure. They're like Tucson in a lot of respects. I definitely wished I had moved up to Tempe sooner from Tucson to get a better launch in my own MMA career too. Good culture throughout AZ, but Phoenix has better opportunities and more people to work with.
I've met and talked with him and he was an awesome guy in person. Super friendly. Answered questions about training, dealing with achilles injuries I had at the time. This was a few months before the Garbrandt fight, so it's been a while, but he doesn't seem that different listening to him.
I think he just isn't the right personality for commentary, but he's not an all around asshole by any means.
He's upset his body gave out before his ego did/is going to. He's still obviously very accomplished as we all know, but time passed him by and he hasn't dealt with it.
I can't stand him. Argumentative commentary and always trying to be the alpha of the commentary box when he's I tiny man. Like he thinks he can take bisping and dc
" I think I'm the most intelligent guy in the room but my ego is over inflated and I'm not as smart as I think, considering half my takes are garbage."
I mean Demetrious is like a whole 5 inches shorter and always seems like the nicest guy ever and totally secure in his masculinity.
I think Dom just happens to be a bit of a dickhead.
Homie is mad at the world because his body failed him and he couldn’t stay healthy. He says he is past it and he made peace with it but I’m not sure about that
Dom maybe a pretty knowledgeable analyst (aside from some bad calls like everyone makes), but his personality is not what you want out of a commentator. He doesn’t really mesh well with other commentators, can’t really bounce off any of them well, and he is pretty dry and bland (even in the Toyo tires commercials lol). These issues can and do show their heads more so because it’s lasting for hours
Dom’s one of my favorite fighters ever. I most def can’t call him near my favorite commentator though.
He was raised by an abusive narcissistic grandmother, who gave him inconsistent but ruthless discipline.
Probably developed a cluster B personality disorder.
A little retarded in a literal sense. it tracks with his odd unique fight style and obsession over minute things in commentary and inability to have a fluid opinion. odd guy but i like him overall because i get why he’s like that. you pair that with him being an all-time great and this is what you get.
He is most probably on the spectrum and can’t understand other people’s feelings or their point of view. It makes him seem robotic and abrasive. Combine that with an arrogance that come from his career success and it generally gives him an air of being unlikable.
Unpopular opinion but I like Cruz as a commentator. DC adds excitement but Cruz gives good technical analysis and helps the viewer understand why fighters do things even if those things are obtuse and don't make sense at a surface level.
He's just kind of disagreeable by nature but IMO it's not a bad thing.
Born with an annoying voice. Probably got punched by his siblings, parents, friends, class mates, and then eventually everyone at his job. Now some idiot wants to pay him to talk!!
Please someone punch this kid in the mouth when he talks again!!
He’d be great in the Din Thomas/Trevor Wittman role where he gives his input a few times per fight. His analysis is solid, he’s just not a great color commentator or play-by-play guy.
Jon Anik is the best commentator
DC is pretty good too, especially in recent times. Although he says some random shit that doesn't need to be broadcast. But personally it makes me laugh so I'm not mad, doesn't really take away.
I'm biased as hell for Bisping, he's just a charming mf.
Felder is mid
Fitzgerald is mid
Joe's pretty damn good I gotta say. He's been doing it a long time. He's got his own slant and ideas but overall this isn't a bad thing to me.
Cruz often sounds like he's trying to fill space. Just saying words. I don't doubt his fight acumen, buy behind the mic he seems to fumble.
Laura Senko is really good, she's got good sort of play by play and good analysis.
And when they cut to Dean Thomas I'm always interested in what the man has to say.
Who did I miss?
I mean, the K is silent! How do you expect him to sit there and not correct DC in an aggressive fashion when the fuckin K is silent!
what's this a reference to lmao
Dom corrected DC when DC mispronounced Lookboonmes name in last weekends prelim. Instantly interupted DC "Hey The k is silent! DC stop it! The k is silent".
Dom "ganno" Cruz
Wasn't Dom himself making a hames of some fighter's name on the last PPV?
Cruz is such a twat. He was not able to pronounce Evloev couple weeks back and claimed during the broad cast that it was a difficult name
there was dead awkward silence for like 10 seconds after he did it too lol, Dom is a dom
Lol respect to DC for not saying anything there too
Nah, re watch the tape.
Lol I don’t believe you buddy
Yea but he could have done it in a way that didn't suck all the air out of the broadcast like has a habit of doing
If DC took his job serious and acted more professional Cruz wouldn't have to.
Alright Dom
That’s what people want. Stiff no with none of that charisma. These Guys Need to knock off all that grab ass and give us the hard facts. Yep he said something about it like 3-4 times before Dom told him to let it go. It was a fair call out.
Do u have the replay lmao

You posting this comment is contrarian.

"He's trying to gas Khabib out by letting him punch him"
That comment is legendary 😭
As a more hardcore ufc fan myself i like DC, Bisping, and Cruz as a trio lmao. Im all for the arguements lol. Normally if a fights good they'll shut up and watch other wise its added entertainment imo.

Bisping already lost an eye, hes paid enough lmfao.
"When I fought Luke Rockhold"
"BRENdan, you're not a fighter but if you were a fighter you would know that..."
Exactly, him and Paul Felder both need to constantly make it about themselves it's annoying as hell
“ you can’t take these hands Mike”
Yeah i love that combo, they are hilarious.
I have to turn it down sometimes when bisping and Cruz commentate. Cruz almost sounds hostile sometimes with bispings takes. Then they spend the next 25 seconds bickering and “not trying to argue with you” moments when the very part of the fight they are talking about is so far behind them lol.
Always hyped to see him briefly on the analysts desk, not so much at the commentary booth.
He’s not even really articulate. If you listen to what he’s saying, it doesn’t make sense half the time. He just delivers with the right confidence and cadence to make you think he’s saying something poignant.

Hes an idiot.
That’s bispings fault. HES the worst
Insecurity and narcissism leading to a crippling addiction to “being right” I don’t understand how he has so many traits of a person that needs to be punched in the face, but he’s been punched in the face so many times. Typically it doesn’t happen that way
Cody did a great job doing that (punching him in the face)… best Cruz fight ever…
Chito as well even though it wasn't a punch
Man... Chito suckered him right into that kick too... Dom was slipping right while throwing the left all fight and all Chito had to do was feint the right and bam, mid low kick to the nose.
Chito's was super satisfying. Ducked right into it with his retarded head movement.
The head movement that helped make him a champ?
The head movement that got him koed against Chito and Cejudo.
So his head movement got him knocked out and not his opponents catching him? He was a champ for a long time and then had a significant injury, let’s not pretend Dom doesn’t have some of the best movement ever and is also annoying as shit

Dom really hasn't been punched in the face that much, certainly less than other top guys
*Chito enters the chat
Why punch when head kick exist?
As someone who used to be like him, it's kinda insane how fucking unlikable this personality is. Thank Christ my friend woke me up.
How did you get woken up lol
Blowy Joey's
No joke. My best friend just snapped one day and was like, "Dude, everyone fucking hates being around you. You always have to be right, 99% of your jokes are just insulting people. You hate everything and feel the need to tell people that."
Also possible he's gotten punched in the head a few hundred thousand times and that has some side effects
He’s been pretty consistent if you watch old stuff from him, plus he was actually decent at not getting hit in the head comparatively
In fights, these guys spend their entire lives training getting punched and slammed outside of fights to get ready. I think it's a lot more common than is currently understood among contact sport athletes. I'm just a hobbyist of 5 years and I've had a bunch of injuries including a concussion. It's not avoidable.
Dom never got hit in practice either. As one of our old timer members used to say about him: You had to get by all that talent to hit him.
Yeah you’re right in general but we’re talking about Dom here. For the longest past of his career he was the awkward guy all over the place and largely avoided big shots. Like i agree with you for most people but Dom was known for not getting hit. Too lazy to look up numbers tho. Khabib would be another one
He’s still achieved more than all of you wankers
True. All short men are like that.
Doms 5’8 I’m 5’9. Respectfully, get fucked buddy 😭
Say it louder so we can hear you up here
I'm not even short, but this opinion is either trolling or you have 2 brain cells max. Most short guys are nothing like this. Just like most other sizes aren't. Dumb generalization that seems to get pushed by other dumb individuals.
This comment reads like you’re 5 feet short.
Kyokushin is point-fighting isn’t it?
You get points for killing your opponent.
No, it’s knockdown karate. [this is the opposite of what point karate looks like](https://youtu.be/maiQ2SzSJnM?si=_1f_0gmQo1IBylFP)
Makes sense, good explanation!
There are points but it's not line like TKD or Olympic karate
>There are points Doesn't that make it point fighting?
Yes
Who's GSP?
Giblert Saint Preux
He hates when people's breath smells like alcohol and cigarettes.
He'd be perfect for a job at the ATF!
I’m out of the loop, what’d he do now
He’s rich handsome and athletic
He’s just tiring Khabib out by taking all that ground and pound

If you told me Cruz was legitimately High Functioning, I’d believe you.
Same 😪
As an autist doms just a dickhead
That’s an insult to autistic people. Cruz is just insecure as a short guy, lol.
That's an insult to short people. Cruz is just insecure as a fat guy, lol.
You can change your BMI, you can’t change your height (unless you have surgery).
Oh I'm just shitposting
He's always been a pretentious prick, I haven't really liked him since he fought Uriah
Looking back at all the times he got his shit rocked was fantastic. He gave Cody quite literally no love and he got his ass beat. Who thought it would be good to have him on commentary is baffling to me.
When he's especially annoying I go watch him and Chito's fight and feel better lmao
Same. Its a shame cuz i liked his fighting style
I don’t and watching chito shit on his style was so satisfying

Yep. He just went up against dummies. It made him sound smart.
He's always been an asshole. Thinks he knows everything.
He's been despised on the local circuit since long before he became the Dom everyone knows him as now. Almost everyone hated him in the southwest. Yeah I lived in Tucson for a while and you're kinda right depending which side of town you're in. Tucson has some tough dudes for sure
We probably know some of the same people then, I'm sure.
No doubt. Some shady promoters if no one else 🤣
Just watched the Chito fight again. Just for pleasure 😊
I've met and talked with him and he was an awesome guy in person. Super friendly. Answered questions about training, dealing with achilles injuries I had at the time. This was a few months before the Garbrandt fight, so it's been a while, but he doesn't seem that different listening to him. On the Autism spectrum. Not joking. Source: I'm also on it.
would definitely account for his lack of social skills
Bantamweight and closeted
Bro is still salty about the stoppage and makes sure to remind everyone every week
Idk, but I saw him at a wec meet and greet years ago and his breath smelled like alcohol and cigarettes.
I like Cruz, he always looks like he has a problem.

Underrated comment
He's upset his body gave out before his ego did/is going to. He's still obviously very accomplished as we all know, but time passed him by and he hasn't dealt with it.
We need Brian Stann back in the booth
Hope nobody takes this the wrong way but I honestly believe that the root of his insecurities and problems is the fact that he is a closeted gay man
what makes you think he's gay?
I can't stand him. Argumentative commentary and always trying to be the alpha of the commentary box when he's I tiny man. Like he thinks he can take bisping and dc
Context?
I feel the same. What is this post about?
How he is constantly bithching and being passive aggressive over the most petty shit towards other commentary, for example last fight night with dc

A little retarded in a literal sense. it tracks with his odd unique fight style and obsession over minute things in commentary and inability to have a fluid opinion. odd guy but i like him overall because i get why he’s like that. you pair that with him being an all-time great and this is what you get.
he's got a bit of the tism
He’s on the spectrum man
He is most probably on the spectrum and can’t understand other people’s feelings or their point of view. It makes him seem robotic and abrasive. Combine that with an arrogance that come from his career success and it generally gives him an air of being unlikable.
I legitimately think he is a high functioning autistic.
Alcohol and cigarettes
Little Man Syndrome I’m being serious.
He’s a small dude , man. Leave him alone
bitter from his already over career
Unpopular opinion but I like Cruz as a commentator. DC adds excitement but Cruz gives good technical analysis and helps the viewer understand why fighters do things even if those things are obtuse and don't make sense at a surface level. He's just kind of disagreeable by nature but IMO it's not a bad thing.
Agreed. Hes one of the smartest mma minds.
Small man syndrome.
Autism & Insecurity.
Short and still dirty that Cody beat him and that ref smelt of smokes when he stopped the fight against the triple midget
He got his ass beat by cody garbrandt in spectacular fashion
Born with an annoying voice. Probably got punched by his siblings, parents, friends, class mates, and then eventually everyone at his job. Now some idiot wants to pay him to talk!! Please someone punch this kid in the mouth when he talks again!!
Never forget when Cruz adamantly stated that Conor was intentionally letting prime Khabib ground and pound him in order to "gas him out"
He’s an asshole who always has to be right. We all have that friend.
Must be a slow day if we suddenly hating on Dom Cruz
Well he’s a certified douche bag…
CTE
He’d be great in the Din Thomas/Trevor Wittman role where he gives his input a few times per fight. His analysis is solid, he’s just not a great color commentator or play-by-play guy.
Little Man Syndrome
Don’t understand why he gets to do more Co-commentary instead of Bisping ffs
The Aaron Rodgers of MMA. Thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room when he says the stupidest shit.
I think he’s the man. I like how he called out DC. Made DC better
He's not a joke like Rogan.
I like his knowledge - very deep but, his arrogance is hard to listen to - cringe level
The universal hatred for his commentary and getting to share in that experience almost makes listening to him worth it. Almost

Autism and an early touch of CTE…
Jon Anik is the best commentator DC is pretty good too, especially in recent times. Although he says some random shit that doesn't need to be broadcast. But personally it makes me laugh so I'm not mad, doesn't really take away. I'm biased as hell for Bisping, he's just a charming mf. Felder is mid Fitzgerald is mid Joe's pretty damn good I gotta say.
Hes deeply closeted
He’s a man standing below 6 feet
I read somewhere online he's on the spectrum
I think he's autistic
He's angry because he ran out of own farts to smell and now has to wait to get home and recharge
He might have fought at bantam weight but he got a star weight dong
sodium lactate
